The White Man’s Burden

A storm, methinks, is just over the horizon: The genetics of intelligence, perhaps of behavior. Geneticists know that intelligence is largely genetic. They know better than to say so. But research advances rapidly. Laboratories close in on the responsible genes. Things like genomic-sequence correlation proceed apace. Within ten or fifteen years, I will guess, the genetics of IQ will be firmly established. If the results turn out as seems likely…then what? What does a pseudo-democracy do when clearly stratified by intellectual capacity?

Merkel’s Bavarian allies get new party head who promises ‘new start’ for political union

Markus Soeder, the Bavarian prime minister, has replaced Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer as the head of the Christian Social Union – a Bavarian political force, which has long been allied with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The leadership change follows months of bickering between the allied parties over the German migration policy and other issues.

How Jared Kushner Tried to Stop Me From Running the Trump Transition (By Chris Christie)

We didn’t really know each other well by then, despite both of us being close to Donald and both of us working on the campaign. But given the role I had played more than a decade earlier as the prosecutor of his father, real estate developer Charles Kushner, of course there was an added something between us... “You and I are both burdened with things that are difficult for the other person to understand,” I said to him. “You’re burdened with a love for your father that I can’t possibly understand, because he’s not my father. And I’m burdened with facts about your father that even you don’t know, that I can never tell you, because if I did, I would break the law.” Then I turned away from Jared and looked back at Donald.

“I’ve made my decision,” Donald said. “Jared, I know you’re not happy about it, but Chris is the chairman of the transition. Corey, put out the press release.”

The National Security Agency Is A Criminal Organization

Unfortunately for Americans, there are many Americans who blindly trust the government and provide the means, the misuse of which is used to enslave us. A large percentage of the work in science and technology serves not to free people but to enslave them. By now there is no excuse for scientists and engineers not to know this. Yet they persist in their construction of the means to destroy liberty.

State Secrets and the National-Security State

I’ve got a better idea: Let’s just dismantle America’s decades-long, nightmarish Cold War-era experiment with the totalitarian structure known as a national-security state and restore a limited-government republic to our land.

Imagine if the Media Had as Much Sympathy for Small Business Owners as it Does for Federal Employees

This isn’t to say that the media never covers these topics. But it is fairly safe to say that beyond publications intended specifically for business readers, ordinary media outlets have rarely showed much interest in examining the plight of small business owners in a way similar to how they’ve been covering the effect of the current shutdown on federal workers. Rarely does mainstream coverage emphasize the daily problems that small business owners face in providing payroll for workers (and themselves), meeting customer demands, and keeping the lights on.

Eight House Democrats Break From Pelosi on Wall Funding

As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to deny President Trump border-wall funding that would end the ongoing government shutdown, eight House Democrats broke ranks with leadership Wednesday by voting against an amendment that would deny funding.

The amendment still passed 230-197, but here are the Democrats who voted against it:

New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Brindisi, South Carolina Democratic Rep. Joe Cunningham, Oklahoma Democratic Rep. Kendra Horn, New Jersey Democratic Rep. Andy Kim, Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Conor Lamb, Minnesota Democratic Rep. Colin Peterson, Michigan Democratic Rep. Elise Slotnik, and New Jersey Democratic Rep. Jeff Van Drew.

As special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s indictments and convictions pile up, people inside the orbit of President Donald Trump are turning on each other in ways that constitute “a prosecutor’s dream,” according to a new report in Politico.

The report talks about the “circular firing squad” of former Trump allies and aides that has opened fire on each other in an effort to dodge prosecution.

Let’s Expose Congress Members for the Warhawks They Are

As the nation continued to reel from President Donald Trump’s shock decision last month to remove all U.S. troops from Syria, news came Wednesday that an unknown number of US soldiers were among at least 15 killed in a bombing in northern Syria. Amid such continued violence, one would think the president’s withdrawal would have ever more urgency. And yet, just about everyone in Washington has attacked his decision to pull out.

The reflexive hatred for Trump that dominates the national conversation is bad for the US, especially when it comes to foreign policy. This is not to say that the president isn’t a flawed figure; after all, I’ve spent the better part of two years critiquing most of his policies. Still, when the man demonstrates prudent judgment—as in his recent calls to pull US troops out of Syria and Afghanistan—he should be applauded. But that’s unlikely to happen in a divided America, as long as an interventionist, bipartisan consensus runs the show in Washington.

Israel attorney general to meet Netanyahu’s lawyer over indictment timing

Israel’s Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s lawyer “to discuss Netanyahu’s request that Mendelblit not make any decisions in the cases against him prior to April’s election”, reported Haaretz.

Responding to attorney Navot Tel-Zur’s letter, Mendelblit’s aide, Gil Limon, “wrote that work on the cases won’t be influenced by the election”.

However, he added, Mendelblit would meet with Tel-Zur early next week, “so you can explain your client’s position about the timing” of the decision “in greater depth”.

According to reports, the Attorney General is expected to issue his decision next month.

War on BDS: How AIPAC-Israel agenda became US priority

The Israeli-US war declared on the Palestinian boycott movement is coming to a head, culminating in a well-orchestrated effort aimed at suffocating any form of tangible protest of the ongoing Israeli colonization of Palestine.

But an Israeli ‘victory’, even with blind US government support, is still too elusive if at all guaranteed. Killing unarmed protesters at the fence separating besieged Gaza from Israel is often whitewashed as Israel ‘defending itself’. However, legislating unconstitutional laws against the rights of ordinary people to boycott a state that practices war crimes might not be an easy endeavor.

The fact that 26 US states have already passed legislation or some form of condemnation of the civil act of boycott, as championed in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) should, in fact, raise more awareness of the iniquitous Israeli influence on the United States, rather than actually thwarting BDS.

Benghazi: Scandal 'Far Bigger Than Watergate' Still Haunts Clinton – Analyst

The recent ruling by US District Judge Royce C. Lamberth may become a breakthrough in the 5-year long Clinton email scandal, Wall Street analyst Charles Ortel told Sputnik, asking how it happened that the Obama administration, the CIA and FBI had apparently overlooked "one of the gravest modern offenses to government transparency".

"The 'Benghazi' scandal likely involves national security offenses, money-laundering, campaign-finance crimes, charity fraud, and public corruption", says Wall Street analyst and investigative journalist Charles Ortel, commenting on a US federal judge ordering former Obama officials to answer the conservative watchdog Judicial Watch's (JW) questions on Hillary Clinton's private email issue and the Benghazi scandal.

Shutdown standoff: Pelosi renews call to delay State of the Union, Trump says Dems 'hijacked' by 'fringe'

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi renewed her call Thursday to delay the State of the Union address, saying the date is not “sacred” and President Trump should wait to deliver his message to the nation until the partial government shutdown ends.

The president, for his part, fired back minutes later during a missile-defense speech at the Pentagon as he alleged the Democrats have been "hijacked" by the fringe and Pelosi is holding up talks.

"While many Democrats in the House and Senate would like to make a deal, Speaker Pelosi will not let them negotiate," Trump said. "The party has been hijacked by the open-borders fringe within the party. The radical left becoming the radical Democrats. Hopefully, Democratic lawmakers will step forward to do what is right for our country, and what is right for our country is border security at the strongest level."

FLASHBACK - A List Of 23 Famous Obama Quotes That Turned Out To Be Broken Promises Or Cold-Hearted Lies

How many lies can one president tell and still retain any credibility? What you are about to see is absolutely astounding. It is a long list of important promises that Barack Obama has broken since he has been president. If he had only told a few lies, perhaps the American people would be willing to overlook that. After all, pretty much all of our politicians our liars. Unfortunately, many of the lies that Obama has told appear to have been quite cold-hearted in nature. For example, Barack Obama repeatedly made the promise that “you will be able to keep your health care plan” under Obamacare. But now we are learning that he knew that this was a lie all along. Not only that, the Democrats in Congress knew that this was a lie all along too. In fact, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat, said the following when she was asked about Obama’s promise to the American people recently: “He should’ve just been specific.

Taxpayer-funded Pension and Perks of Former U.S. Officials

People don't typically get into U.S. politics for big bucks. Sure, there are a lot of other prestigious perks that come along with a high-ranking position, but government jobs aren't typically known to be the most lucrative employment opportunities. And let's be real: The true "value" of public service has seen better days.

Take the U.S. president, for example. While the annual salary ($400,000) dwarfs that of the median American income ($59,039), but it's not much more than a top-tier tech executive in the Bay Area ($316,763). So while a hefty paycheck may not be the most impressive piece of a politician's profile, aren't you a little curious what some government officials make? And how long do they have to work before they're paid for life (because that's a thing)? Wonder no more.

President Trump Responds to Pelosi: Cancels Overseas Trip, Tells Her to Fly Commercial

President Trump responded to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s effort to postpone the State of the Union address by canceling her planned overseas trip and suggesting she fly commercial instead.

“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address,” she wrote, “or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to Congress.”

FISA shocker: DOJ official warned Steele dossier was connected to Clinton, might be biased

When the annals of mistakes and abuses in the FBI’s Russia investigation are finally written, Bruce Ohr almost certainly will be the No. 1 witness, according to my sources.

The then-No. 4 Department of Justice (DOJ) official briefed both senior FBI and DOJ officials in summer 2016 about Christopher Steele’s Russia dossier, explicitly cautioning that the British intelligence operative’s work was opposition research connected to Hillary Clinton’s campaign and might be biased.

Ohr’s briefings, in July and August 2016, included the deputy director of the FBI, a top lawyer for then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and a Justice official who later would become the top deputy to special counsel Robert Mueller.

Report: DOJ’s Bruce Ohr Shared Unverified Dossier Intel with Prosecutors Now on Mueller Team

In 2016, DOJ official Bruce Ohr shared details from his meetings with anti-Trump dossier author Christopher Steele with his colleagues, including senior FBI officials and prosecutors now assigned to the Mueller investigation, according to Fox News.

In August, Ohr testified behind closed doors to the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees where he discussed details of his 2016 meetings with Steele. It was during that testimony that he confirmed he shared information from Steele with then-deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe, then-FBI attorney Lisa Page, then-FBI agent Peter Strzok and the man now known as Mueller’s “pit bull” Andrew Weissmann.

“Andy McCabe, yes and met with him and Lisa Page and provided information to him. I subsequently met with Lisa Page, Peter Strzok, and eventually (an FBI agent),” he testified. “And I also provided this information to people in the criminal division specifically Bruce Swartz, Zainab Ahmad, Andrew Weissmann.”

Key Justice Department officials, including Mueller deputy, knew about dossier

Testimony last year before a House task force investigating the Trump-Russia affair confirmed that top Justice Department officials knew about the Trump dossier earlier than first thought, and that among those who knew was Andrew Weissmann, who went on to become the top deputy of special counsel Robert Mueller.

Bruce Ohr, the fourth-ranking official in the Justice Department, told the House task force that he met with Christopher Steele, the former British spy who wrote the dossier, at a Washington hotel on July 30, 2016. At that point, Steele, recruited for the job by Glenn Simpson of the opposition research firm Fusion GPS, had completed a few installments of the dossier, including the salacious and never-verified sex allegation featuring Donald Trump and prostitutes in a Moscow hotel. Ohr testified that shortly after meeting with Steele, "I wanted to provide the information he had given me to the FBI."
