SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 18, 2019: FURTHER ESCALATION IN SOUTHERN IDLIB

Over the past days, southern Idlib, southern Raqqah, northwestern al-Hasakah remained the main points of tensions in Syria.

On November 16, the Syrian Army repelled an attack by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies on the hill of Khaznah in southeastern Idlib. According to pro-government sources, at least 7 militants were killed in the clashes.

The Syrian Army, backed up by the Russian Aerospace Forces, liberated the Khaznah hill and the village of Luwaybidah on November 14 in an attempt to expand a buffer zone between militants’ positions and nearby civilian areas. Despite this, attacks in the area continued. If government forces want to remove the threat of shelling by militants to nearby villages, they will have to push deeper into southern Idlib.

America’s ‘deep state’ and Israel won’t allow Trump’s troop withdrawal from Syria

The crocodile tears have stopped now that the world has yet again forgotten about the Kurds following the deals between Russia, Turkey, Iran, Syria and, to some extent, US President Donald Trump. It’s a win-win situation for everyone: Turkey gets its safe zone allowing it to resettle Syrian refugees; Syria reclaims more sovereign territory and, critically, crosses the River Euphrates for the first time since 2012; Iran sees the Syrian government intact, imperative for its ally Hezbollah; Russia repositions itself as a powerful broker in the region with all the international prestige that comes with it; Trump is left to do the right thing by scaling back the US military presence. In doing so, he simultaneously sticks to his presidential campaign promise to “bring the troops home” from “endless wars”; he repeated this intention as President, in April last year.

That was the idea. Now, though, we are seeing an about-turn in Trump’s decision to withdraw US troops from north-east Syria.

FLASHBACK: President Morales Calls Out U.S. Foreign Policy as Trump Listens in UN Security Council Meeting

If the U.S. cared, it “would not have threatened with military intervention democratically elected governments as it has done with #Venezuela,” the Bolivian president continued in his denunciation of American violations of #InternationalLaw. “The United States could not care less about human rights nor justice. If this were the case, it would have signed the international conventions and treaties for the have protection of human rights.”

President #Trump wore a small earpiece to hear the English translation while others wear larger ones at the UN Security Council meeting.

“In no way is the United States interested in upholding democracy. If such were the case it would not have financed coups d'etat and supported dictators,” said Evo Morales, President of Bolivia.

“Morales was in a position to make the statements because Bolivia is one of the nonpermanent slots on the council. ” - The Hill, Justin Wise - 09/26/18

Trump Keeps Contradicting Pentagon on US Role in Syrian War

President Trump’s position on the Syrian War aims to further simplify matters. Turkey’s President Erdogan says he is worried about Turkey’s border with Syria, and President Trump sees an opportunity to contrast his own war, saying “we left troops behind only for the oil.”

In the context of US-Turkey relations, this seems very straightforward and avoids conflicts of interest. Admitting that the whole US war is for oil isn’t the panacea Trump thinks it is, however, and he’s running up against other US officials on this issue.

Lawmakers are couching the Syrian War as being about protecting the Kurds, while the Pentagon’s leadership sees it heavily built around fighting ISIS and continuing to work toward regime change in Syria. Some even suggest it’s about countering Russia.

Trump’s all-oil agenda directly contradicts everyone else, and gives the impression that the US is being deliberately evasive about its military agenda and where US foreign policy is going.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a classic demonstration of "foreign policy by dart board"; unfortunately, however, none of the agencies involved, from the White House, to the Pentagon, to the State Department, are working from the same dartboard!!!

Le Mesurier Gets Cross'd

Authored by Craig Murray,

Perhaps the only fact on James Le Mesurier about which I would agree with the MSM war cheerleaders is that he was a very busy man. It is remarkable therefore that he found the time and inclination to follow “Philip Cross” on twitter. Given that “Philip Cross” has virtually never posted an original tweet, and his timeline consists almost entirely of retweets of Nick Cohen, David Aaronovitch and openly pro-Israel propaganda accounts, why would Le Mesurier bother to follow him?

“Philip Cross” has never posted any news other than to retweet columnists. He has never given an insight into a story. In addition to James Le Mesurier, why then were all these MSM journailsts following “Philip Cross” from before “he” gained notoriety for his Wikipedia exploits?

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 15, 2019: SYRIAN ARMY KICKS OFF NEW OFFENSIVE IN SOUTHERN IDLIB

On November 14, the Syrian Army backed up by the Russian Aerospace Forces launched a limited offensive on positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its Turkish-backed allies in southern Idlib. Government forces liberated the town of Luwaybidah and the nearby Khaznah hill after a series of clashes with militants. Then, army troops supported by artillery and air strikes advanced on the town of Misherfah.

Clashes are now ongoing in the area.

HTS and its allies have been violating Greater Idlib ceasefire on a daily basis for months. The new ground operation is aimed at deterring these attacks or even expanding a buffer zone in order to push militants’ back from the government-controlled area and further.

Here's The Moment Erdogan's White House Visit Took "A Dark Turn"

It was clear in yesterday's press briefing during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to the White House, where he didn't actually receive much push back from either President Trump or the press (at one point Trump requested that only a "friendly" reporter from Turkey ask questions of Erdogan), that the touchy subject of Turkey's acquirement of Russia's S-400 anti-air system was front and center in closed door conversations.

But Erdogan appeared unmoved by whatever pressure he may have faced in the Oval, given he later told reporters while standing next to the US president that Turkey cannot possibly discard the S-400 due to its strategic ties wit Russia, but he also added, “I’ve told Mr. Trump that we’re ready to buy Patriots.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is painfully obvious, that Erdogan has begun a slow, but unmistakable, pivot toward Russia, in both in its economic choices, and the weaponry it chooses to use with which to defend Turkey.

US Drones Capture Footage Of Pro-Turkish Forces Engaged In Shocking War Crimes

Entirely to be expected, a new report in The Wall Street Journal has found that Turkish-backed Syrian forces currently fighting US-backed Kurdish groups as part of 'Operation Peace Spring' are guilty of war crimes, including summary executions of Kurdish civilians.

"U.S. military officials watched live drone feeds last month that appeared to show Turkish-backed Arab gunmen targeting civilians during their assault on Kurdish fighters in northeastern Syria, attacks the Americans reported to their commanders as possible war crimes, according to current and former U.S. officials familiar with the incidents," reports the WSJ.

What the report fails to mention, however, is the blatantly obvious and relevant recent history that the Islamist militants carrying out such atrocities are the very same militants which were a few short years ago funded, armed and trained by the CIA and Pentagon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This just makes me physically sick.

Can someone, please, identify that moment in time, when I signed on, as a citizen of the United States of America, to be a citizen of a country which either engaged in war crimes, or one which just allowed them to happen, and there were no repercussions against them?!?

I really need some help on this folks, because THIS is my moment... of "selective memory disorder", I absolutely cannot recall having done this, so if anyone wants to clue me in, you're due a profound "thank you."

Do you remember the codswallop we all got force-fed in public school, about how great and noble this country was, and that it was a country which could never, ever be in the morally wrong, at any time, and through any choices its leadership had made?!?

Well, for me, my "Buddha on the Road" came while I was a senior in High School, and the VietNam war was raging; it was great for the military/industrial complex, but pretty lousy for those conscripted to fight this war, and their families.

Many came home in a cheap metal casket; others came home maimed for life; and others may have physically present, but were suffering from any possible number of stress-induced traumas.

Then, those Veterans who DID come home, were not greeted with at least some compassion, but were abused, and humiliated for doing what their country's government directed them to do; it should have been those elements in the US government who perpetuated this immoral war, who should have been rightly reviled, tried, and convicted of their war crimes, and put away at a facility which was NOT a "Club Fed."

I cannot keep from thinking, that had that madness stopped sooner than it was, and the truly guilty were tried and convicted, we would not be in Syria; Afghanistan; Iraq; or Niger today.

But in looking at the current situations in the above-referenced countries, I am reminded of the phrase that "Those who do not learn from history...are doomed to repeat it."

US wants to create illegal quasi-state in eastern Syria: Russia

The United States is looking to illegally separate territories on the eastern bank of the Euphrates and create a separate, illegal, quasi-state there, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, speaking at the Paris Peace Forum on Tuesday.

“On the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, they are doing everything possible to create the structure for a quasi-state, and are asking the Gulf States for major investments in order to create a local administration on the basis of the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Kurds – the YPG People’s Protection Units and others, with the clear intention of breaking this piece of territory off from Syria, and controlling the oil fields located there,” Lavrov said.

At the same time, Lavrov accused the US of prohibiting its allies from investing in Syria’s reconstruction.

Trump says U.S. has eye on Baghdadi's third in command

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday the United States knows the location of the third in command to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who killed himself last month during a U.S.-led raid.

“We have our eye on his third,” Trump said during the question-and-answer session following a speech at the Economic Club of New York. “His third has got a lot of problems because we know where he is too.”

Since Baghdadi’s death, the United States and Turkey have targeted possible successors and sympathizers and arrested family members, seeking to prevent a resurgence of the militant group.

US Ramping Up Firepower in Syria to Match Syria, Russia: US general says redeployment to east Syria required more power.

Maj. Gen. Eric Hill, addressing the arrival of more armored vehicles at the US positions in eastern Syria, says it is part of the “resetting” of the US position further east, and required the US to have more “combat power here to sustain ourselves.”

Maj. Gen. Hill says that the goal is not simply to have power to match ISIS but “the militaries of the Syrian regime, the Russians, or even militias backed by fellow NATO partner Turkey.” The focus is on how everyone is carving up territory in eastern Syria, which was once controlled by the US and its Kurdish allies.

Though the Pentagon likes to brag about its ability to project power across the world, in Syria its ability to accomplish anything has historically hinged on getting the Kurds to do it for them. Though the deployment at the oilfields is no doubt capable of inflicting some casualties if control of the fields is challenged, it’s hard to imagine that the US believes it would truly hold this ground with a few hundred troops.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The troop strength here will have to be much larger than the number given by the US Military for public consumption; I would suggest a couple of thousand troops, at least, perhaps more.

I only know one thing about this on coming "war against Syria; Russia; and Turkey"; it has to start quickly, because there is zero public sentiment to pursue it, so the US government will have to have it kicked off with some horrific false flag (most probably engineered by the US's frenemies in Tel Aviv), and away we go.....

Such a war will, be again, extra-Constitutional, as only Congress has the power to declare war under our Constitution; but that being said, there is so little regard for the rule of law in this country, I sincerely doubt that more than just a precious few of us will actually notice we are in yet another illegal war of aggression; as was the Iraq war; the war against Afghanistan; and the war against Libya.

I would hope and pray that those who believe such a war would be "a good thing" for this country, are very, very careful about the outcomes they wish to have happen here, and that they remember the following; in classic Greek dramas, those who acted hubristically, wound up very, very punished and generally ultimately, destroyed.

SYRIA, OIL, AND THE EXCEPTIONAL, INDISPENSABLE KLEPTOCRATS

Instead of reducing the number of troops as promised, Trump approved an expanded “military mission,” supposedly to “secure” Syrian oil.

The Donald is completely irrelevant.

“At a US government-funded think tank at the forefront of shaping Washington’s interventionist designs, an American official succinctly laid out the continued-regime change strategy,” writes Ben Norton for The Grayzone.

The “think tank”—the neocon infested Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is funded by clueless American taxpayers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't know what kind of bets the bookies in Vegas are taking on some kind of "false flag" (most probably engineered by our Israeli Frenemies in Tel Aviv) against American troops on the ground in Syria, or against Russian troops on the ground here, but I have a feeling that such an event may well happen soon, and it will be horrifically nasty.

One of the most iconic holidays for Americans, is our upcoming Thanksgiving; one has to wonder if this is the weekend planned for such an event, to be thoroughly screamed about throughout Thanksgiving Day, and well washed in the 24/7 news spin cycle by the time the following Monday rolls around.

Overnight polls should start, right after the beginning of the event, to see how many people in the US see it as a "justification" for a war against Syria, and off we go.

There is, however, one slight complication to this scenario; that is the Russian military presence in Syria, and just how far its President Putin is willing to go, to scotch such a move.

Should a shooting war start between the US and Syrian military, I seriously doubt that Putin is going to lead the Russian Parliament in a stirring rendition of "Kumbyah", where everyone holds hands, and sways to the music.

As much as Russia's Putin may not want to do it, he may feel that his hand has been forced, and he has to act against the US theft of Syrian oil, and its invasion of a sovereign state, where it has absolutely not been invited.

The Russian military response here may well be.... intense.

BRITISH MI6 AGENT AND FOUNDER OF THE WHITE HELMETS GROUP DIES AFTER "FALLING OFF BALCONY" IN TURKEY

SOURCE: THE GUARDIAN
The British founder of the organisation that trained the Syrian rescue group known as the White Helmets has died in Istanbul.

A spokesman for the White Helmets confirmed on Monday afternoon the death of James Le Mesurier, but said further details were yet to be established.

Le Mesurier, 48, was found dead near his apartment in central Istanbul’s Beyo?lu neighbourhood at around 4.30am. Turkish media reports said he was found with fractures to his head and legs near the building on Monday morning and appeared to have fallen from the balcony of one of the apartments.

The office of Istanbul’s governor said it had commenced a “comprehensive” investigation into the death.

Top U.S. general says 500-600 American troops to stay in Syria

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says about 500 or 600 U.S. troops will remain in Syria to counter Islamic State fighters.

President Donald Trump recently approved an expanded military mission to secure oil fields across eastern Syria. His decision locked hundreds of U.S. troops into a more complicated presence in Syria despite his pledge to bring them home.

Gen. Mark Milley told ABC’s “This Week” that pressure must be maintained on IS fighters still in the region.

It’s unclear whether Milley’s prediction of keeping 500 to 600 American troops there includes the roughly 200 who are at the al-Tanf garrison in southern Syria.

TURKISH-LED FORCES RESUMED ADVANCE IN NORTHEASTERN SYRIA, WAR REPORT

Over the past days, Syria’s northeast has been the main point of instability in the war-torn country.

On November 10, the Turkish-backed coalition of militant groups, the Syrian National Army, announced that it was resuming it offensive in the area. The group justified this move by claiming that the Kurdish People Protection Units and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which are the core of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces, violate the safe-zone agreement reached by Ankara and Moscow. According to the Turkish version of the events, Kurdish rebels did not fully with draw from the border area and continued attacks on positions of Turkish-led forces and civilians.

Western sanctions on Syria only hurt the people in order to push regime change agenda – Assad to RT

The restrictions the EU and the US imposed against Syria initially targeted ordinary Syrians so that they would blame the government for their woes and eventually rebel, President Assad told RT’s Afshin Rattansi. Now, as the West has kept renewing the sanctions year by year for almost a decade, they serve another goal: to punish Syrians for refusing to bow to the pressure, the president said.

"Those people were expected to rise against their government during the different stages of the war but they did not. They were supposed to support the terrorists – the ‘moderate rebels’ and ‘angels’ of White Helmets – but the people did not and stood with their government. So, they have to suffer. They have to pay the price and learn their lesson that they should stand with the agenda [of the West]."

Pentagon’s East Syria Operation About More Than Taking the Oil

Whether to control the oil or flat out take the oil, US statements on the new military mission in Syria are heavily oil-themed. Other reports, however, suggest that the operation is a lot more complicated than that.

In reality, a lot of the goal is nation-building, with US forces meant to both keep the Syrian government out of this part of Syria, and try to “bring prosperity” to the region, propping up a potential territory of rebels.

This is again built around the assumption that the US can manufacture an autonomous, prosperous region, using the oilfields as the revenue source, and then steer that region toward hostility with the rest of Syria.

This will likely end up being a plan easier for the Trump Administration to sell than overt theft of oil, as it allows the US to retain its primary focus, military hostility toward Syria with an eye toward eventual regime change.

Webmaster's Commentary:

(Sigh) to those in the Pentagon who actually believe that this is a reasonable, logical way of moving forward in Syria; I really don't know if you need a hug, some calcium magnesium; some milk and a happy-ending bedtime story, or at least one American, a Christian pacifist activist, who never encourages violence (folks, that's me) to gently suggest to you that such an approach is completely, as in barking-dog mad, rubber-room-esque insane.

What homogeneous group are you going to give this region to, now that the Kurds have pledged fealty to the Syrian government?!?

The Kurds’ commander in chief explains why his forces are finally ready to partner with Assad and Putin.

My big question is, how long Russia's Putin will be willing to put up with this foolishness before Russian (plus Kurdish plus Syrian) troops uncork on US positions in Syria?!?

And folks, for me, that is the ultimate nightmare scenario. The two headlines right under this at antiwar.com, give me no comfort on this issue either.

Pentagon Claims US Authority to Shoot Any Syrian Govt Official Who Tries to Take Control of Syrian Oil and the headline under this, Erdogan: Turkey Won’t Leave Syria Until Every Other Country Does: Says Turkey will not let up on offensive against Kurdish militants

Does the US position here even remotely resemble a reasonable, sane, responsible, and moral moment of conflict resolution?!?

The short answer, of course, is: HELL, NO!!!

Pentagon: Revenue From Syrian Oil Will Go to Kurdish SDF, Not US

Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman told reporters on Thursday that while the US continues to expand its presence in and around east Syria with an aim of protecting and controlling the oil fields, the US won’t be keeping the money.

“The revenue from this is not going to the US, this is going to the SDF,” Hoffman said, suggesting the US-backed Kurds will get all the money. That’s still entirely speculative, however, because no US company has expressed any willingness to extract the oil in the first place.

It’s also not what has been sold to the US by President Trump. Trump has insisted that the US would be keeping some of the oil for itself, telling crowds recently that it would amount to $45 million a month and that it was always his intention to “keep the oil.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly think that the Pentagon is "shopping the scenario" of the Kurds getting the money from these oil fields, to try to compensate for the lousy "taste in the mouth" from smaller countries world wide, who are wondering right now; "OK, if the US has decided it can expropriate/steal Syria's oil with no backlash, and since we don't have much of a "standing army", when will the US invade our country for our resources?!?"

The question is absolutely legitimate, given the current US international policies right now.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 8, 2019: RUSSIA CAPTURED ADVANCED ISRAELI INTERCEPTOR MISSILE

On November 6, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, announced that the Kurdish-led group was resuming its “joint program of work” with the US-led coalition. According to him, the goal of this effort is to combat ISIS and secure “the infrastructure” of northeastern Syria.

The irony is that this “infrastructure” is the US-occupied oil fields. Therefore, the SDF declared its support to the US-led effort to exploit Syrian natural resources. Most likely, the group’s leadership sees this as a needed step to gain US support in its separatist efforts.

On November 7, an intense fighting between the SDF and Turkish-led forces erupted near the town of Ayn Issa in northern Raqqah. Initially, pro-Turkish militants seized the villages of Issa and Sharaqiq killing several SDF members. However, later, they were pushed back by a SDF counter-attack.

RUSSIA SETTING UP MILITARY BASES ACROSS NORTHEASTERN SYRIA, WAR REPORT

Syrian and Russian warplanes carried out more than 40 airstrikes on militants’ positions in southern Idlib, northern Lattakia and southwestern Aleppo. According to pro-government sources, the resumed airstrikes were a response to the recent offensive actions by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its Turkish-backed allies near the town of Kbani. Pro-militant media outlets as always claimed that the strikes hit civilian targets only.

Local sources report that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other radical groups are currently deploying additional artillery pieces and military equipment in northern Lattakia. So, a new round of escalation could be expected in the area soon.

The Russian military reinforced its positions near the town of Ayn Issa, where a coordination center with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had been established. The deployed reinforcements included several military vehicles and dozens of trucks loaded with ammunition and equipment.

‘Crucial’ Israeli missile technology handed to Russia by Syria forces

A crucial element of Israel’s defence system is at risk of becoming compromised after its advanced surface-to-air interceptor missile known as “David’s Sling” was found intact by Syrian forces and handed to the Russians to reverse engineer the technology.

Israeli sources reported that missiles fired in 2018 during what is believed to be its first known operational use, landed intact inside Syrian territory. One of the interceptor missiles failed to strike its target and another fell inside Syria. The interceptor landed intact in Syria and is believed to have been swiftly recovered by Syrian military forces and handed over to the Russians.

It’s reported that both Israel and the US asked Russia to return the missile, but there is no confirmation that the request has been met by Moscow.

TRUMP OKS WIDER SYRIA OIL MISSION, RAISING LEGAL QUESTIONS

Legal questions. That’s hilarious.

I just want to remember the good old days, when they felt the need to dazzle us with yellow cake uranium fraud before they stole the oil.

Via: Military Times – AP:

President Donald Trump has approved an expanded military mission to secure an expanse of oil fields across eastern Syria, raising a number of difficult legal questions about whether U.S. troops can launch strikes against Syrian, Russian or other forces if they threaten the oil, U.S. officials said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't know how many international treaties, to which the US is also a signatory, the US government has breached by taking this position, that they have every full, and legal right to control and sell Syria's oil, but I am betting that the number is potentially staggering.

My near-bet would be on Israel staging an horrendous false flag, causing many US service members to be killed or maimed for life, to be blamed on both Russia and Syria.

At that point, Trump will have his alleged "justification" for a war against both Syria and Russia; but Mr. President, if you allow yourself to be cornered into taking this action, it will be one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly idiotic things you could possibly do at this time.

I would like to suggest a scenario which has probably been war-gamed to death by the IDF, but let us look at the following; if Russia, the US, Iran, and Saudi Arabia are in hot conflicts around the world, and become broken by the conflicts, militarily and monetarily, who potentially gets control of the Mid-eastern oil, and I mean, all of it, once the dust settles?!?

Israel.

Mr. President, please do not consider Bibi Netanyahu your friend; at best, he, and Tel Aviv, are more like Frenemies.

Knock Knock. Who's There? Rightful Owner! Syrian Army Reportedly Reclaims Long Lost Oil Field

The majority of the country's oil fields are currently controlled by the US military, illegally stationed in the Arab Republic, and the Kurdish militia. Washington recently reaffirmed its intentions to "keep" the Syrian oil, despite objections from Moscow.

The Syrian Army started deploying its forces near the city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria, and specifically near the village of Mulla Abbas, claiming the Rumailan oilfield, which was lost to Damascus several years ago, during the civil war, SANA news agency reported. The area is located on the Turkish-Syrian border.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This illegal commandeering of Syria's oil fields by the US, may well mean that the current administration has its eyes on a shooting war with Russia over Syria's oil.

And if the US doesn't seem to be "aggressive enough" in its posture to suit its parasitic client state in the Middle East, (Israel) I am very certain that Israel's Shin Bet, would be delighted to create a false flag for us, insuring the deaths and woundings of many American service members, in order to "get the American people on board" for a nasty war against Russia.

And please remember; just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing for this administration to do, is utterly no guarantee that it won't do it.

US Constructing Two New Bases In Syria's Oil-Rich Region: Report

Turkey's state-run media is reporting the United States is planning two new military bases in Syria's oil-rich Deir ez-Zor province, which are currently under construction, after US special forces convoys were seen patrolling the area in the past days.

Anadolu Agency, citing local sources, said the bases were under construction as evidenced by the influx of heavy equipment:

While the footage captured by Anadolu Agency showed that much construction equipment is being put into action, it was learnt the U.S. has sent 250 to 300 additional soldiers, armored vehicles, heavy weapons and ammunition to the region.

The reported added: “The military bases are being built in the 113th Brigade area and near al-Sur region,” according to the sources.

Syria's largest oil fields, which historically account for most of its domestic energy needs, are located in Deir Ezzor, including Al-Omar, Conoco, and Rumeilan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF these reports are true, it appears that the US government is "digging down" against potential Russian attacks against US facilities.

Folks, we are headed, unfortunately toward a wild geopolitical ride, potentially including a shooting war with Russia over Syria, courtesy of this administration.

This would not be a bad time to make sure you have extra storable food; extra meds for yourself and your family; and potable water.

The blatant illegality of US interventions in Syria

President Trump has stated his intent to withdraw US troops from Syria on several occasions since March 2018. Each time politicians from both the Democratic and Republican parties, supported by the corporate-controlled media, have, based on US imperial interests, vehemently challenged the withdrawal proposal. These folks also based their opposition to withdrawal on their supposed concerns for the Syrian Kurds. Unfortunately, they have shown far less concern about the welfare of Iraqis, Libyans, Yemenis, Afghanis and Palestinians among many other populations suffering terribly due in part to US actions.

Syrian Forces Arrive at Oil Field Claimed by President Trump

The Syrian Arab Army has been dispatched around the northeast Syrian province of Hasakeh, aiming to shore up defenses in villages around the area to try to prevent invading Turkey from pushing deeper into Syria beyond the already-claimed safe zone.

While this is unsurprising given Syria’s priorities in security this area, it potentially complicates America’s new war for Syria’s oil, with Syrian troops now in Mulla Abbas, putting them near one of the oil fields claimed by President Trump as an American-held field.

On Tuesday, this was uneventful, with US and Kurdish YPG forces at the site not opening fire on the Syrian military. At the same time, no one from any side is trying to extract oil yet, so as yet any contesting is purely theoretical.

US Troops Not Sure Who They Are Supposed to Shoot At in Syria

The US war in Syria is undergoing a dramatic change in recent weeks. Simply looking at President Trump’s Twitter, the impression is the war ended, then restarted, and went from being about ISIS to about oil.

The Pentagon isn’t operating based off Trump’s Twitter, however, and that’s unfortunate for commanders, as they have been scrambling around to oil fields without any actual orders or clear missions of what they’re supposed to be doing.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 4, 2019: ‘WITHDRAWING’ US TROOPS SETTING UP NEW MILITARY BASES

The Syrian Army and Turkish-led forces are strengthening their positions on a contact line in northeastern Syria. A large convoy of Syrian Army reinforcements deployed in the towns of Abu Rasin and Umm Harmalah south of Ras al-Ayn. The convoy included T-72 battle tanks, BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles, Gvozdika self-propelled 122 mm howitzer and BM-21 Grad 122 mm rocket launchers. At the same time, the Turkish Army sent additional troops and equipment to the countryside of Ras al-Ayn.

On November 1, 2 and 3, clashes between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkish-backed militants were ongoing in a number of gray area villages, including Azizah, al-Jamilyah and Faysaliyah, in northwestern al-Hasakah. Pro-SDF sources claim that Kurdish fighters re-captured over 10 villages from Turkish-led forces. Pro-Turkish sources claim that SDF members are on retreat. In fact, a large part of the territory south of Ras al-Ayn remains a no-man land.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 5, 2019: ARMY PREPARES FOR ADVANCE IN NORTHERN LATTAKIA

In response to a recent escalation in northern Lattakia, the Syrian Army has deployed a batch of reinforcements south of the militant-held town of Kbani. According to pro-government sources, the Syrian military leadership is also considering to deploy units from the Tiger Forces to the area. If this is confirmed, the Syrian military may undertake offensive actions around Kbani in the near future. During the past few years, militants used Kbani as a foothold to shell and attack government-controlled areas. The liberation of this town may become a turning point in restoring security and defeating the terrorism in this part of Syria.

Turkish-backed forces shelled a US military column near Tell Tamer in northeastern Syria, Maj. Gen. Yuri Borenkov, the head of the Reconciliation Russian said on November 3. No casualties were reported. Nonetheless, such developments indicate that the situation around the Ras-al-Ayn-Tell Abyad zone still remain tense.

Kushner gave Saudi Crown Prince Bin Salman permission to arrest Khashoggi: report

Troops went back in and the story is out.

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner gave permission to his friend, Saudi Arabia’s de-facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) to arrest the dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi before he was brutally murdered last year, a whistleblower alleges.

Weekly British magazine The Spectator said investigators on the US House Intelligence Committee were aware of the whistleblower's claims and were planning to dig further into them.

According to The Spectator, the Turkish intelligence intercepted a call between Kushner and bin Salman, and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan then used it to force Trump to withdraw his troops from northern Syria.

Islamic State Exacts Revenge On Turkey For Selling Out Al-Baghdadi

Submitted by Nauman Sadiq, an Islamabad-based attorney, columnist and geopolitical analyst focused on the politics of Af-Pak and Middle East regions, neocolonialism and petro-imperialism.

A car bomb exploded in northern Syria killing 13 and wounding 20. The blast on Saturday ripped through a crowded market in Tal Abyad, a town recently occupied by Turkish-backed militant proxies. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the blast targeted pro-Turkey fighters and civilians were also among the dead.

Even though the Turkish Defense Ministry promptly laid the finger of blame on Turkey’s arch-foe, the Kurdish YPG militia, without conducting an investigation, car bombing as a tactic for causing widespread fear is generally employed by jihadist groups and not by the Kurds.

Rebuilding Syria... Without Syria's Oil?

Compare US pillaging with Russia-Iran-Turkey’s active involvement in a political solution to normalize Syria..

What happened in Geneva this Wednesday, in terms of finally bringing peace to Syria, could not be more significant: the first session of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.

The Syrian Constitutional Committee sprang out of a resolution passed in January 2018 in Sochi, Russia, by a body called the Syrian National Dialogue Congress.

The 150-strong committee breaks down as 50 members of the Syrian opposition, 50 representing the government in Damascus and 50 representatives of civil society. Each group named 15 experts for the meetings in Geneva, held behind closed doors.

This development is a direct consequence of the laborious Astana process – articulated by Russia, Iran and Turkey. Essential initial input came from former UN Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura. Now UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen is working as a sort of mediator.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This development has been conveniently left out of nearly all accounts in the West of what is going on in Syria, and yet, is one of the most significant developments of the last year.

The Real US Mission in Syria

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

US involvement in Syria has nothing to do with regional peace, stability and security, nothing to do with combating ISIS.

It’s all about killing a nation, destroying its sovereignty, partitioning it for easier control, removing its legitimate leadership, installing puppet rule, plundering it, exploiting its people, eliminating an Israeli rival, isolating Iran, and enriching the US military, industrial, security complex from endless aggression.

US troops back at military bases in northeast Syria

US troops are reportedly back in military bases in northeastern Syria which they had previously evacuated ahead of Turkey's military action against Kurdish forces in the area.

Turkey's Anadolu Agency has reported that American forces arrived in the west of Syria’s northern province of Raqqa on Saturday to rebuild their military base.

A US military convoy, including a personnel carrier armored vehicle, a mine flail and a utility vehicle, arrived in Jazira base located west of Raqqa via Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Color me completely unsurprised by this move.

No Ceasefire/Ceasefire in Northern Syria. The Pentagon Will Use Overwhelming Force to Maintain US Control over Syrian Oil

rom one or more illegally established airbases in Syria, as well as other other regional ones, Pentagon warplanes, attack helicopters, and drones continue terror-bombing Syrian sites at the discretion of its commanders.

US troops still occupy large parts of northern and southern Syrian territory indefinitely, including oil producing areas — looting them for private and CIA profiteering, as well as wanting Damascus denied revenues from its own resources. That’s what grand theft is all about.

All of the above are war crimes as defined under the UN Charter and other international law. The US and its imperial partners remain unaccountable for crimes of war and against humanity in all their war theaters.

The same goes for US economic terrorism against Iran, Venezuela, North Korea, Cuba, and other countries — high crimes gone unpunished.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are moments when I absolutely do not recognise the country of my birth; it appears that every ethical, reasonable, and moral qualities which made the US a good place to live, and a good neighbor to have, internationally, have been abandoned by this Government, and for quite some time now.

The American people are no longer in any kind of even symbolic control of their government; their government has morphed into some kind of a hydra-headed monster, feeding the unending, death-and bearing appetites of its military industrial complex, while telling what is left of Middle Class America, that they must do with less, so the government can have more.

RUSSIA CLAIMS U.S. WILL SMUGGLE $30 MILLION OF OIL OUT OF SYRIA EVERY MONTH UNDER TRUMP'S 'CRIMINAL' PLAN

Russia's foreign ministry spokesperson has accused the U.S. of "criminal activity" with regards to President Donald Trump's plan to deploy troops to guard oil fields in eastern Syria.

Maria Zakharova said Friday that the Trump administration was engaging in illegal smuggling, and estimated Washington stands to make tens of millions of dollars every month from the oil extracted in the region.

According to state news agency Tass, Zakharova said the U.S. was "bypassing its own sanctions" to take the oil—"worth over $30 million per month"—from Syria. She also suggested the U.S. forces deployed "are not going to leave these areas in the near future."

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly think that the Russian estimate, may be just a little too conservative.

But the on-going question, and one which I hope is keeping at least a few of our people in power in Foggy Bottom is, just how long is Russia going to allow this to continue, before it uncorks with its own military response to kick the US out of Syria?!?

We have invaded a sovereign country, into which we were not invited; funded and trained its enemy jihadists toward the goal of regime change in Damascus, and now... we're processing its oil?!?

What is wrong with this picture?!?

BLOODY EVERYTHING!!

Assad Calls Trump "Best US President" Ever For "Transparency" Of Real US Motives

Assad's commentary on the latest White House policy to "secure the oil" in Syria, for which US troops have already been redeployed to some of the largest oil fields in the Deir Ezzor region, was the biggest pressing question. The Syrian president's response was unexpected and is now driving headlines, given what he said directly about Trump, calling him the "best American president" ever – because he’s the "most transparent."

“When it comes to Trump you may ask me a question and I’ll give you an answer which might seem strange. I tell you he’s the best American president,” Assad said, according to a translation provided by NBC.

“All American presidents commit crimes and end up taking the Nobel Prize and appear as a defender of human rights and the ‘unique’ and ‘brilliant’ American or Western principles. But all they are is a group of criminals who only represent the interests of the American lobbies of large corporations in weapons, oil and others,” he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Al Assad gets how power politics get played in this country better, unfortunately, than many of its citizens do.

THE MISSING PIECES OF AL-BAGHDADI’S EXECUTION PUZZLE

Here, let me try to dispel a myth peddled by the corporate media and foreign policy think tanks that the Islamic State originated from al-Qaeda in Iraq. Many biased political commentators of the mainstream media deliberately try to muddle the reality in order to link the emergence of the Islamic State to the ill-conceived invasion of Iraq in 2003 by the Republican Bush administration.

Their motive behind this chicanery is to absolve the Obama administration’s policy of nurturing the Syrian opposition against the Syrian government since the beginning of Syria’s proxy war in 2011 until June 2014, when the Islamic State overran Mosul in Iraq and the Obama administration made a volte-face on its previous “regime change” policy of providing indiscriminate support to Syrian militants and declared a war against a faction of Syrian rebel groups, the Islamic State.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Whatever President Obama did, with regard to the Middle East, he generally did "on the sly"; this article places him at the very epicenter of attempts to take Syria's President Al Assad down with US trained, funded, and armed jihadists.

HOW CONTROLLING SYRIA’S OIL SERVES WASHINGTON’S STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES?

SOURCE: NAUMAN SADIQ, BLACKLISTED NEWS

Although Donald Trump claimed credit for expropriating Syria’s oil wealth, it bears mentioning that “scorched earth” policy is not a business strategy, it is the institutional logic of the deep state. President Trump is known to be a businessman and at least ostensibly follows a non-interventionist ideology; being a novice in the craft of international diplomacy, however, he has time and again been misled by the Pentagon and Washington’s national security establishment.

White Helmets plotting to stage new chemical weapons incidents in Syria – Russian Foreign Ministry

The White Helmets are coordinating their activities with terrorists, seeking to stage new chemical weapons incidents in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.

“Their goal clearly is to undermine the political process,” she said, citing data that the Syrian government provides to the UN on a regular basis.

The White Helmets, who call themselves a humanitarian organization, are currently active near Idlib, cooperating with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group, TASS quoted the spokeswoman as saying.

The United States’ decision to allocate $4.5 million to support the White Helmets is an example of Washington’s double standards in the war on terror, Zakharova said.

Trump Slides an American Foot in the Door in Syria: In a shocking reversal in Syria, President Trump has ordered the US military to occupy the oil field at Deir Ez Zor, in eastern Syria.

The US occupation of the oil production facility at Deir Ez Zor is strategic for the US, and EU foreign policy on Syria, which depends on sanctions to keep the Syrian civilians and government from importing any necessary supplies to repair and re-build Syria, now that the war is over. Syrians are prevented from importing oil due to the sanctions, and without oil, the country cannot re-build. If the Syrian oil production facilities were to be in the hands of the legal owners, the Syrian Ministry of Oil, then repairs could be carried out and Syria would no longer need to import oil, and they could go back to being energy sufficient, as they were before 2011.

Russian Defense Ministry, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov spoke about satellite images in Syria which show the extent of past US involvement in the oil smuggling business, which was conducted with the Kurds using a US company “Sadcab”, and the profits were funneled through US private military contractors.

Baghdadi raid video released as US general warns of Isis reprisal attacks: General Kenneth McKenzie says Isis will remain a threat as he shows footage of raid on leader’s Syria hideout

McKenzie said the US was under no illusions it had destroyed Isis, and warned the group would try to take revenge.

“They will be dangerous. We suspect they will try some form of retribution attack,” he said. “We don’t see a bloodless future because unfortunately this ideology is going to be out there.”

However McKenzie predicted that the campaign against Baghdadi would grind down Isis capabilities.

Webmaster's Commentary:

... And if ISIS doesn't provide a "retribution attack", one can be reasonably certain that the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika has something to cobble together to make it appear that ISIS has done a "retribution attack" against US forces in Syria, causing the US, of course, to have to bring in "yet more "troops and equipment" with which to "guard" (translation: steal) Syria's oil.

And were I a betting woman, I would suggest that such an attack may well happen sooner, rather than later, before the American public, with their intense, collective, and raging case of ADHD, forgets that it was US forces who finally "felled Al-Baghdadi" in Syria.

And would someone, still in their right mind, from this madness, explain to me what the hell we are still doing in Syria?!?

Were we invited by the Syrian Government?!? Uh....no.

Were we invited in by the Russian Government, assisting the Al Assad Presidency in fighting the US trained and equipped jihadis, who were desperately trying to take out his government?!? Uh.....no.

So folks, here is the butt-ugly truth of this situation; the Trump Regime has ordered our military to invade a sovereign country, with which the US government is not at all, technically, in any degree of war against, and it has decided that stealing, and selling, Syrian oil is the highest of all possible actions we can take here, while also protecting Israel's "divine right" to squash any alleged "Iranian forces" it imagines/believes are in the country, as they see fit.

What's wrong with this picture?!? Why, absolutely nothing, if putting US troops into harm's way for no lawful, legal purpose, and wanting to engender unending war in the region are this government's goals, there is absolutely nothing wrong here; nothing to see; just don't pay attention.

But I just have to wonder how long Russia's Putin will allow this nonsense to fester, before making it crystal clear that US troops will have to vacate Syria, and permanently.

And please remember; just because a scenario is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing President Trump could do right now, like ordering our troops to attempt to clobber Russia in Syria for its oil, is utterly no guarantee that he will not do it; God only knows, he needs some distraction from the "Impeachment Frenzy", which culminated yesterday (Halloween) in the passage of the the Dementocrat's ginned-up rules for presenting evidence in this process.

Mr. President, I must strongly caution you; please don't do this, as in sending our troops to fight both Russian and Syrian troops for Syria's oil; this would be a really bad choice, sir, one one that would permanently, even further, stain the reputation of this country as a force for good, and for peace.

‘Americans will RESPAWN al-Baghdadi’: Assad casts doubt on ISIS leader’s death, draws parallels with Bin Laden’s killing

Take any words from US politicians with a grain of salt, Syria’s Bashar Assad has urged, as he cast doubt on the story of the Islamic State leader being killed in US a raid, and compared it to the shady killing of Osama Bin Laden.

The widely publicized US special forces raid that allegedly killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group, left more questions than answers and it should not be taken at the face value, the Syrian President cautioned, during a lengthy interview with state media on Thursday.

Damascus did not participate in the raid by any means, Assad stated, adding that he'd learned about the claim only through media reports.

Fake Narratives as Cover For High Crimes

Western stories about Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi are meant to confuse, to distract, and to strengthen fake narratives.

First, the West supports Daesh in Syria (and beyond). It isn’t a secret.

Finally, it fortifies the fake “War on Terror” myth which inverts the truth, which is that the West supports terrorism in all its forms as it commits war crimes as policy.

The political spectacles, the transparent war lies, the fake narratives, obscure foundational issues. The Right to Self-Determination is foundational to International Law.

Syria has every right to take any and all necessary measures to regain ITS OWN OIL FIELDS. Washington has ZERO rights to steal the oil.Second, it provides a distraction from what is really happening in Syria. Whereas the West has been destroying Syria and stealing its resources throughout the war, now Washington is basically admitting that it is stealing Syrian resources.

The USA’s History Of Controlling The OPCW To Promote Regime Change

You wouldn’t know it from today’s news headlines, but there’s a major scandal unfolding with potentially far-reaching consequences for the entire international community. The political/media class has been dead silent about the fact that there are now two whistleblowers whose revelations have cast serious doubts on a chemical weapons watchdog group that is widely regarded as authoritative, despite the fact that this same political/media class has been crowing all month about how important whistleblowers are and how they need to be protected ever since a CIA spook exposed some dirt on the Trump administration.

Retired General: Trump's Syria Oil Plan Turns US Troops Into "Pirates"

After President Trump suggested on Sunday that he would like to make a deal with Exxon Mobil or “one of our great companies” to go into occupied Syria and take the oil, one of the few former top defense officials to explicitly condemn the plan which clearly smacks of naked US imperialism was retired General Barry McCaffrey.

Referencing Trump's comments, an outraged McCaffrey posed the question on Twitter, "WHAT ARE WE BECOMING... PIRATES?"

He further stressed that the oil "belongs to Syria" and that ultimately "we lack Congressional authority to stay" in the country at all.

US Military Envisions Broad Defense of Syrian Oilfields: Esper says US will keep Syrian government away from Syrian oil.

The Pentagon intends to retain control of Syria’s oilfields going forward, and says they will repel anyone else trying to take that oil with “overwhelming force.” This has become the chief, and materially only, military goal of the US military operation in Syria.

Since President Trump announced his intention to control the oil, and conceivably to try to take some of it on behalf of the US, the Pentagon has been revising the Syria mission around controlling the oil. This has included sending more troops and tanks.

Pentagon officials have tried to build this narrative around keeping ISIS from reclaiming the oilfields, since they held them once. With ISIS barely existing anymore, that’s not a realistic threat, and Defense Secretary Mark Esper conceded on Monday that the deployments of US forces are meant to “deny access” to the oil to either Russia or the Syrian government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sec Def Esper and President Trump, a word, please: have you collectively gone barking mad, to have made this statement>?!?

This.... is brigandry writ large, and completely against all logic, and all international norms. I don't know how many international treaties we are ditching by doing this, but I would almost bet, quite a few.

And Mr. President, now long do you think you have before Putin makes a decision that the theft of Syrian oil will not be allowed to stand, after taking such care to bring a positive outcome to Bashir Al-Assad;'s government, against US trained, armed, and funded jihadis?!?

Mr. President, I am no politician; just a composer with a little bit of logic.

I don't know who is advising you on this issue, but all the legalistic codswallop they have been feeding you, to justify the unjustifiable, is nothing short of thoroughly, as in soft rubber-room to prevent self-harm, insane.

I would very much like you to reconsider this, Mr. President; at this point in our military's existence, we don't have the troop strength; the weaponry; the money; or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia over Syria's oil.

Please; the naked irrationality of this act, gives the US government the well-deserved moniker "unhinged"; and I feel that I must strongly caution you, that if you push Russia hard enough, I can almost guarantee you a push back; can that really be the design objective of this lunatic move?!?

War with Russia over Syria's oil?!? Let's not go there.

Russia casts doubt on US operation to kill Baghdadi

The Ministry of Defence in Moscow has expressed doubts about US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Sunday that Daesh leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi was killed in a “daring night-time raid” in north-west Syria. Trump went on to thank Russia, Turkey, Syria and Iraq for their support.

“We are unaware of any alleged assistance to US aircraft using the airspace of the Idlib de-escalation zone during this operation,” Major-General Igor Konashenkov told state-run RIA news agency.

Something Stinks in Syria’s Oil Fields

When the US “withdrew” from Syria, Donald Trump announced that he had secured Syria’s oil from ISIS and was protecting it.
Further announcements indicated the US was leaving 500 troops there and would be moving in heavy armor, this being done well outside the purview of agreements with Russia and certainly in violation of Syria’s sovereignty.

Behind it all, we have the very long history of oil theft in the region but first we are going to touch on recent statements made by President Assad who asserted that Turkey, under Erdogan, had stolen billions in Syrian assets, entire factories, oil, wheat, antiquities, and more.

President Trump Understands What Congress Does Not: Syria Is Not America’s War

Congress wouldn’t declare war or even approve presidential troop deployments in Syria. But sanctimonious legislators now are preening for the cameras, demanding that U.S. military force remain entangled in that tragic nation, seemingly forever. They show greater concern for foreign fighters acting in their own interest than for American soldiers, as well as civilians who have suffered from blowback to Washington’s succession of Middle Eastern wars.

It needs to be said bluntly: Syria doesn’t matter for U.S. security. The Assad family has ruled Syria since 1971. The regime was allied with the Soviet Union during the Cold War but never attacked America. After steady losses, the Assads even abandoned war with Israel. Rule by father and son has been brutal — like those of assorted American friends: Mubarak, el-Sisi, the Saudi royal family, Bahrain’s al-Khalifas, Iran’s Shah Pahlavi, and even Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, when he was fighting Tehran.

“The Russian Ministry of Defence does not have reliable information on the U.S. servicemen conducting in the Turkish-controlled part of the de-escalation zone of Idlib an operation on yet another ‘elimination’ of the former IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi,” Major-General Igor Konashenkov was quoted by RIA as saying.

Where is the proof? We’ve been here before, Al Baghdadi’s been reported dead or fatally injured many times

The Guardian had him paralyzed with a severe spinal injury after an airstrike in April 2015, Syrian state TV reported him dead in June 2017, Iranian TV said he was “definitely dead” and the Russians claimed as much again, all in the same month.

In July 2017 he was pronounced dead once more, then alive and then, to clear the matter up, a year later, he emerged from obscurity with a new propaganda video.

Secret Pentagon Report Reveals US "Created" ISIS As A "Tool" To Overthrow Syria's President Assad

That may all have changed now when a declassified secret US government document obtained by the public interest law firm, Judicial Watch, shows that Western governments deliberately allied with al-Qaeda and other Islamist extremist groups to topple Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad.

According to investigative reporter Nafeez Ahmed in Medium, the "leaked document reveals that in coordination with the Gulf states and Turkey, the West intentionally sponsored violent Islamist groups to destabilize Assad, despite anticipating that doing so could lead to the emergence of an ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According to the newly declassified US document, the Pentagon foresaw the likely rise of the ‘Islamic State’ as a direct consequence of the strategy, but described this outcome as a strategic opportunity to “isolate the Syrian regime.”

Neither in international law, nor in American law itself — there has never been and there will never be a single legitimate task for the American troops — to protect and defend the hydrocarbon accumulations of Syria from Syria itself and its people.

Therefore, what Washington is doing now, the seizure and armed control of oil fields in Eastern Syria, is, put it simply, an international state banditry.

ISIS ALREADY HAS A NEW LEADER, BUT BAGHDADI MAY NOT HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE GROUP ANYWAY

Back-to-back U.S. operations Saturday and Sunday have resulted in the deaths of Islamic State militant group (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and spokesperson Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir in Syria, but the organization has already designated a successor, Newsweek has learned.

Abdullah Qardash, sometimes spelled Kardesh and also known as Hajji Abdullah al-Afari, was said to have been nominated by Baghdadi in August to run the group's "Muslim affairs" in a widely-circulated statement attributed to ISIS' official Amaq news outlet, but never publicly endorsed by the group. Though little is known about the former Iraqi military officer who once served under late leader Saddam Hussein, one regional intelligence official asking not to be identified by name or nation told Newsweek that Qardash would have taken over Baghdadi's role—though it had lost much of its significance by the time of his demise.

US Armored Convoys Filmed Entering Syria's Oil Fields

In confirmation of the Pentagon announcement Friday saying American troops and mechanized units would deploy to "secure" the oil-producing area of Syria, despite Trump's much touted and debated "withdrawal," multiple local videos have appeared online early Saturday showing large American convoys headed back to the region they only days ago departed.

Russian Military Releases Satellite Images Confirming US Smuggling of Syrian Oil

The Russian Defense Ministry published satellite intelligence images proving that oil from Syria was sent abroad under the guard of US servicemen before and after the defeat of the Daesh terrorists, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said Saturday.

The ministry spokesman said that “the space intelligence images showed that oil was actively extracted and massively exported for processing outside Syria, under the reliable protection of US troops, before and after the defeat of the Daesh* terrorists.”

Pro-U.S. militants torturing residents in Syria's Rukban camp: NGO head

A Survey and dozens of interviews have showed that pro-U.S. militants are present in the Rukban refugee camp in southeast Syria and have been torturing the residents, an NGO head said here Thursday.

At an event organized by Russian United Nation (UN) mission, Maxim Grigoriev, director of the Moscow-based Foundation for the Study of Democracy, presented the findings of a survey of 248 people who had left Rukban as well as 50 detailed interviews.

The former residents said militants had prevented people in the camp from leaving for areas controlled by the Syrian government and that those with a positive attitude toward the government were subjected to pressure, including beatings and torture, destruction of property, and threats to relatives.

US Drone Program May Have Helped Turkey Kill Kurds for Over a Decade

Donald Trump is justifiably condemned for approving Turkey’s assault against the United States’s Kurdish allies in the war against ISIS. What is not widely known is that the U.S., in a largely secret program dubbed Operation Nomad Shadow, appears to have been using drones for over a decade to help Turkey stalk and kill Kurds.

Although the U.S. is now publicly opposing the Turkish push into Syria, is Nomad Shadow continuing to be used secretly to support Turkish attacks on Kurdish forces there, given, among other things, the apparent U.S. desire to continue operating from Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base and to maintain its nuclear weapons there?

VIDEOS EMERGE FROM REPORTED SITE OF ISIS LEADER AL-BAGHDADI’S DEATH

As he walks through piles of brick rubble, he says US forces have totally destroyed the compound.

As first reported by Newsweek, al-Baghdadi blew himself up using a suicide vest. Sources told the magazine that an airstrike was conducted to prevent the location from becoming a shrine for extremists. US President Donald Trump has confirmed the results of the raid.

In another video, a large crater is seen where al-Baghdadi’s hiding place was likely located.

US TRIES TO REVERSE SYRIAN FORTUNES WITH “BAGHDADI RAID”

SOURCE: NEW EASTERN OUTLOOK

Timing is Everything

The supposed military operation – unfolding just miles from the Syrian-Turkish border – comes at a time when the prospects of America’s proxy war in Syria have reached all time lows.

First – US proxy forces jointly armed and aided by Turkey as well as other US allies – have been all but eliminated from the battlefield with their remnants residing in Idlib, increasingly encircled by Syrian forces.

Attempts by the US to intervene in Syria directly to oversee the overthrow of the government in Damascus was also thwarted by Russia’s military intervention beginning in 2015.

To whoever wrote this, (who must have "male attributes" of titanium, which click mightily when they walk),an industrial strength, major congrats for calling this what it most probably is; an elaborate hoax, to forward a US corporate/governmental agenda.

TRUMP’S PLAN TO TAKE SYRIAN OIL SLAMMED AS ‘CLEAR VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW’ AND ‘IMPERIAL LOOTING’

President Donald Trump announced plans to violate several longstanding tenets of international law on Sunday morning during a controversial press conference celebrating the death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, legal experts say.

“We are leaving soldiers to secure the oil,” Trump said. “And we may have to fight for the oil. Maybe somebody else wants the oil, in which case they have a hell of a fight.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

(Sigh) To the legal-eagle minions surrounding President Trump who have advised him that this is a completely reasonable; lawful; and moral; why the hell are you feeding the man this codswallop that this is a perfectly legal thing to do, under international law?!?

Can Trump's real supporters who actually care about Trump's "legacy" as President, PLEASE, gently remove these people from Trump's presence, and put them into the " Rubber Room Wing" of the White House (it's GOT to have one, by now), feed them brilliantly, keep them comfortable and healthy, but primarily safe from expounding upon any position on international law for, oh...let's say... the next one hundred years or so?!?

Because my big question on this planned US move, is to ask Russia's President Putin and Foreign Minister Lavrov, precisely what they are going to do about this, to disabuse President Trump from this notion that it is perfectly swell to do this to a sovereign country with which we are not (at the moment) at war?!?

Lord, PLEASE tell me that Trump is not ready to march into Syria for its oil, only to encounter a shooting war with the Russians; the US military does not have the money; the manufacturing; the weaponry; or the troop strength, to bring a successful outcome to a conventional war with Russia over Syria's oil.

FLASHBACK: How many times has Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi been declared dead or injured?

My Gosh! Al Bagdaddy has more lives than a cat! LOL!
Baghdadi, who rarely appears in public, often declared dead or injured since inception of Isis in 2014.

Russia is investigating whether one of its air strikes killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of Isis. The ministry of defence said that an air strike hit a meeting of Isis leaders in Raqqa, Syria, on 28 May.
In the most recent instance, Syrian state TV said on 11 June that Baghdadi had been killed after being caught in a heavy artillery barrage in Raqqa, which Isis captured in 2014.

In October 2016, reports claimed Baghdadi was in critical condition after he and three other Isis senior leaders had been poisoned.

Russian defense ministry says has no proof of Islamic State leader’s extermination

MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Russia’s defense ministry has no reliable proof that Islamic State (a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed in a US raid and doubts that such a raid has ever taken place, the ministry’s spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, said on Sunday.

He said that the fact that the number of those who say about their participation in al-Baghdadi’s extermination and share contradictory details of the operation make one doubt that such an operation ever took place.

"We know nothing about any assistance to the flight of US aircraft to the Idlib de-escalation zone’s airspace in the course of this operation," Konashenkov said.

Stupid is as Stupid does? Or a stroke of genius?

Is the supposed killing of Al Baghdadi an operation designed to save Trump from impeachment and take a lot of bad news off the front page or is it what Trump needed to set up the complete withdrawal of US forces from Syria including the oilfields and bread basket of Syria.
On the one hand a rather cynical political scam designed to pull Trump's nuts out of the impeachment fire or......
A show of political genius. If it is a show of political genius it will save him from impeachment and get him re-elected while at the same time getting US troops out of Syria and handing the oil and farming areas of Syria back to the Syrian Nation. And the dems and neocons will have to keep their mouths shut!

Russian MoD doubts Trump’s announcement of killing ISIS chief al-Baghdadi, rejects claims it assisted US forces in op

Trump's domestic troubles, the stories of the US stealing Syrian oil,a slumping economy are what led to this tremendous lie. He needed a victory and something to take the bad news off the front pages here in the US.
Overseas he is a laughing stock. And he has made our country the laughingstock of the entire Planet with this huge Whopper! The Trump syncophants have taken the hook!

There’s no credible data to prove a successful American raid took place against Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Russia’s Defense Ministry said. The US coalition didn’t even carry out any airstrikes in Idlib recently.

But the Russian Defense Ministry insisted that “there were legitimate questions and doubts about the very fact [of the US operation] and, especially, its success.”Moscow pointed out that it recorded no US coalition airstrikes in the Idlib area in northwest Syria on Saturday when the raid was held.

Russian MoD Does Not Have Reliable Information on US Operation in Syria to Neutralize Baghdadi

Trump is in big trouble. The Russians have pointed out the US theft of Syrian oil in the last few days. Oil which the Russians are contractually supposed to be producing. They have no knowledge of any US raid, didn't give permission for one and have stated there have been no American air operations over or near Idlib in quite a while.
Russian radars can see a gnat flying over Syria. Trump has been caught in one huge whopper.

"Russia treated us great. They opened up - we had to fly over certain Russia-held areas. Russia was great," Trump said.

The Russian Defence Ministry, however, stated that they are unaware of providing cooperation to US air units entering the airspace over the Idlib deescalation zone during that mission.

"No airstrikes performed by US aircraft or aircraft belonging to the so called 'international coalition' were detected on Saturday or during the following days," a statement by Maj.Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

Russian MoD Does Not Have Reliable Information on US Operation in Syria to Neutralize Baghdadi

Trump has been caught in a tremendous lie. He is finished!

"The Russian Defence Ministry has no reliable information about US servicemen conduction an operation to 'yet another' elimination of the former Daesh leader Abu Bark al-Baghdadi in the Turkish-controlled part of the Idlib deescalation zone", ministry spokesman Maj.Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

Earlier, Trump declared that al-Badhgadi allegedly "died after running into a dead-end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way", and boasted that the US personnel involved in the mission "were incredible".

He also thanked Russia, claiming that the US forces had to fly through certain Russian-controlled areas to reach their target.

"Russia treated us great. They opened up - we had to fly over certain Russia-held areas. Russia was great," Trump said.
