Israel is nervous about the Syria ceasefire deal

Israeli leaders are worried about the ceasefire deal in southern Syria signed last weekend between the U.S., Russia and Jordan. That's because the deal will allow Iranian-backed forces to position themselves as close as 3.5 miles from the Israeli border in the Golan Heights. But they also think it sends an alarming signal about the Trump administration's policies.

The big picture: Israeli officials see the deal as a sign that the Trump administration is too eager to pull out of the Middle East, and not willing to back up its rhetoric about confronting Iran's negative regional behavior with action.

The back story: Since June, Israel has been following the negotiations between the U.S., Russia and Jordan on a deal to create “de-escalation" zones in southwest Syria — one of them on its northern border in the Golan Heights.

Warehouses Full of US-Made 'Lethal Weapons' Found by Syrian Army (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

The Syrian Army has liberated new quarters of Deir ez-Zor from Daesh terrorists. During the operation the army found large warehouses with a huge number of lethal weapons. The Syrian military source told Sputnik Arabic what exactly these warehouses were storing.

According to the Syrian military source there were a lot of US-made weapons and military equipment of Western European and Israeli production. Apart from M-16 automatic rifles there were TOW anti-tank missile systems and 155 mm US field guns.

“There were also Hummers, which were either used to transport people or were stuffed with bombs inside ready to explode. Israeli intelligence reconnaissance aircraft and a modern Israeli protective suit for conducting sapper work have also been found,” the source told Sputnik Arabic.

Russian bombers hit Islamic State targets near Syria’s Abu Kamal

Six long-range bombers Tupolev-22M3 of Russia’s Aerospace Force on Friday hit targets of the Islamic State (terrorist group outlawed in Russia) near Abu Kamal, in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"On November 17, 2017 six long-range bombers Tupolev-22M3 left an airbase in Russia, crossed Iranian and Iraqi airspace and carried out a massive air strike against facilities of the terrorist organization Islamic State near Abu Kamal, in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province, such as strongholds, manpower and armored vehicles. Monitoring equipment confirmed that all of the designated targets were hit," the Defense Ministry said.

Pentagon Says It's Staying In Syria, Even Though ISIS Appears Defeated

ut the recapture of ISIS-held territory in Iraq and Syria is only a partial win for U.S. policy. After seven years of civil war, the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad remains in power. The other U.S. objectives — the end of Assad, a new Syrian constitution and democratic elections — remain unfulfilled.

Despite the defeat of ISIS, Defense Secretary James Mattis told reporters this week that U.S. forces will remain in Syria.

Lavrov slams Haley’s remark about impossibility to reach Russia's envoy as fake diplomacy

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday branded US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley’s comment about the impossibility of reaching Russia’s UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya as ‘fake diplomacy.’
According to him, Haley was not telling the truth when she said that she was unable to get Nebenzya on the phone to agree on a draft resolution. Son Of Sally Jones ‘Still Alive’ After ‘White Widow’ Killed In US Drone

Syrian sources claim the son of British jihadist Sally Jones, dubbed the ‘White Widow’ by the media, is alive and well. Joe ‘Jojo’ Dixon, 12, was thought to have been killed alongside his mother in a CIA Reaper drone strike in June.

Initial reports suggested the British woman used her indoctrinated son as a human shield while trying to flee the Syrian city of Raqqa. The Kent mother took her son and travelled to Syria in 2012 to join her new husband Junaid Hussein and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). She quickly rose through the ranks of IS to become a top recruiter, and is said to have recruited hundreds of UK women to become jihadi brides.

The Syrian Army says it discovered warehouses filled with US military equipment left behind by ISIS militants who are retreating back to northern Iraq.

Weapons found include US-made TOW missiles, American artillery and M16s, all of which would be difficult to procure in mass quantities unless the US was directly sending munitions to the Middle East.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 16, 2017: FIERCE FIGHTING ERUPTS IN EASTERN GHOUTA

On November 15, Ahrar al-Sham officially declared a start of the operation to capture the Armored Vehicle Base and the nearby area from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in Eastern Ghouta near Damascus.

Ahrar al-Sham, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and Faylaq al-Rahman launched their advance on November 14. Since then, an intense fighting has been ongoing in the area.

However, the official Ahrar al-Sham offensive declaration means that this is not a limited effort. The ceasefire region in Eastern Ghouta collapsed.

On November 15, the SAA and its allies captured the villages of Hazm, Kikiyah, al-Arfa and Rabdah from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in northern Hama.

Mattis Distorts UN Resolutions Meaning to Justify US Presence in Syria

On Monday, Mattis said that US presence in Syria was legitimate because it was authorized by UN authorities to fight the Daesh terrorist group.

"By Mattis’ logic it would seem, the US military would be authorized to invade any country on earth, so long as we claimed there was one or two self-identified IS members in the country," former Army lawyer Major Todd Pierce told Sputnik. "So he’s claiming license for US military action anywhere in the world, basically at our own discretion, regardless of the human cost in collateral damage."

Pierce, who previously served as a lawyer in the US military’s Judge Advocate General (JAG) office pointed out that Mattis had distorted the clear meaning and specified authorization in the UN resolution.

"Without United Nations authorization to be in Syria, the United States has no legal authorization to be in Syria, as Syria certainly didn’t give the US permission," he said.

Netanyahu: Israel Will Act Alone to Force Iran Out of Syria

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the most recent ceasefire announcement did not involve any commitment for Russia to force Iran out of Syria, saying that Iran can maintain a legitimate presence in Syria.

This isn’t sitting well with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who urged the world to unite and force Iran out of Syria at all costs. Now, he’s saying Israel is prepared to act alone to ensure Iran has no permanent presence there.

The narrative of Iran even wanting a “permanent” presence in Syria seems to be more or less wholly an Israeli creation, based on reports of building at a Syrian military facility somehow being extrapolated to it being an “Iranian base.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel's Netanyahu has just declared war on Syria.

But of course, in light of the reality that Netanyahu's corruption trial is about to move forward,
Netanyahu to see bribery charges, what can one reasonably expect him to do, sit down and hum "Kumbiya"?!?

He is a politically wounded animal at this point; and politically wounded animals are highly dangerous.

Do not rule out some incredibly brazen Israeli military actions against Iran, Lebanon, or Syria, at this point, and rather immediately.

Al-Jaafari: Saudi Arabia Collapsed in Syria

Syrian representative at the UN Bashar Jaafari while speaking at the General Assembly in New-York stated that Saudi Arabia and its allies collapsed in Syria due to heroism and steadfastness of the Syrian nation.

Jaafari also marked that the draft resolution, which had been proposed by the United States, Great Britain, France, France, Israel and Saudi Arabia contained fabricated information and data about the current situation in Syria.

The diplomat underlined that the draft resolution is extremely politicized and meaningless, and the countries that prepared the draft were repeatedly involved in financing and supporting terrorist organizations in Syria, Iraq, Libya and other Middle Eastern countries.

SYRIA WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 15, 2017: SYRIAN ARMY TURNS MILITANTS BACK IN NORTHERN HAMA

On November 14, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) repelled a joint advance of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, Ahrar al-Sham and Faylaq al-Rahman in the Eastern Ghouta de-escalation zone, near Damascus.

The militants attacked the Armored Vehicle Base near the village of Harsta from the northern and eastern directions and used a car bomb to break the SAA defense there. They failed to achieve their goal. SAA Major General Walid Khawashqi was killed during the clashes.

The so-called opposition sees the expected defeat of ISIS as a threat to its security because it would allow the SAA to focus on the militant-held pockets across Syria.

Former Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) spokesperson Talal Sillo, who earlier today defected after crossing into territory in Syria held by the Turkish military and its jihadist allies as reported by FRN, has made his first announcement. "The SDF project will collapse in a few months," the former spokesperson of the Kurdish-led forces said after defecting. Lost in reverie: Mattis claims UN let US intervene in Syria, although it never did

US Defense Secretary James Mattis has recently claimed that Washington received a mandate to operate in Syria from no less than the UN itself. The problem is the UN never did any such thing as it does not even have any legal capacity to do so.

State Dep’t Travel Warning Admits Nusra, Tahrir al-Sham Used Chemical Weapons In Syria

By Brandon Turbeville

For years, the United States government stuck to its nonsensical claim that the Syrian government was the only party in Syria using chemical weapons despite their being no evidence that the SAA has ever used such weapons. Finally, the State Department was forced to admit that ISIS had indeed used chemical weapons but it still stuck to the claim that, out of the anti-Syrian “rebel” forces, only ISIS was dastardly enough to use them.

Now, however, a revised travel warning from the State Department’s own website has expanded the admission of Western-backed terrorists’ use of chemical weapons just a little further to include Jobhat al-Nusra, Jobhat Fatah al-Sham, and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham...

Damascus: Uninvited US Presence in Syria Constitutes Act of Aggression

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has commented on the remarks by the Pentagon chiefs who said that the presence of the United States in Syria had been approved by the United Nations as Washington is fighting Daesh terrorists.
On Tuesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry commented on US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis' statements about the US presence in Syria, who said that US forces won't leave the Middle East country until they achieve their goals there.

"Syria once again declares that the presence of American forces or any other military presence in Syria without the consent of the Syrian government is an aggressive violation of Syria's sovereignty and a flagrant contravention of the UN's foundations," the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in response to Mattis.

Bombshell Report Confirms US Coalition Struck A Deal With ISIS

At a moment of widespread acknowledgement that the short-lived Islamic State is no longer a reality, and as ISIS is about to be defeated by the Syrian Army in its last urban holdout of Abu Kamal City in eastern Syria, the US is signalling an open-ended military presence in Syria. On Monday Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon that the US is preparing for a long term military commitment in Syria to fight ISIS "as long as they want to fight."

Mattis indicated that even should ISIS loose all of its territory there would still be a dangerous insurgency that could morph into an "ISIS 2.0" which he said the US would seek to prevent. “The enemy hasn’t declared that they’re done with the area yet, so we’ll keep fighting as long as they want to fight,” Mattis said. “We’re not just going to walk away right now before the Geneva process has traction.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is apparent that, in Sec Def Mattis' weltanschauung, there is no such thing as a sovereign country whatsoever, and the US government and military have the "divine right" to build military bases where ever it sees fit, never mind the political will of the government which actually runs that country.

Has Al Assad gotten the memo on this, and almost as importantly, has Russia's Putin received the memo on this?!?

Israel issues Syria warning after concern over Iran-backed forces

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalled Monday that Israel would take military action in Syria when it sees fit as it seeks to ensure Iran-backed forces stay away from its territory.

Israel has long accused Iran, its main enemy, of taking advantage of Syria's civil war to send its Revolutionary Guard and its Lebanese Shiite ally Hezbollah into southern Syria, close to the border with the Jewish state.

It has sought to avoid being dragged into the fighting but has carried out dozens of air strikes to prevent arms deliveries to Hezbollah, which fights alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces.

Israel was reportedly seeking a buffer zone in southern Syria near Israeli territory of some 50 kilometres (30 miles), but an agreement reached last week between the United States, Russia and Jordan fell sh ort of that demand, Israeli media said.

Did Al Qaeda Dupe Trump on Syrian Attack?

A new United Nations-sponsored report on the April 4 sarin incident in an Al Qaeda-controlled town in Syria blames Bashar al-Assad’s government for the atrocity, but the report contains evidence deep inside its “Annex II” that would prove Assad’s innocence.

If you read that far, you would find that more than 100 victims of sarin exposure were taken to several area hospitals before the alleged Syrian warplane could have struck the town of Khan Sheikhoun.

Still, the Joint Investigative Mechanism [JIM], a joint project of the U.N. and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons [OPCW], brushed aside this startling evidence and delivered the Assad guilty verdict that the United States and its allies wanted.

Russia blows UN lies out of the water

The recent report of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the United Nations accused the Syrian government troops of being responsible for the Khan Sheikhoun chemical attack, without providing any evidence.

The fact that the OPCW has not properly acknowledged the possibility that sarin gaas was in the possession of the rebels in Khan Sheikhoun, on April 4, 2017, is yet another major issue with regard to the veracity of the OPCW report and its findings.

There have been multiple sources of evidence in the past that the terrorists in Syria were getting toxic substances the same way they were getting many of their arms - from Saudi Arabia through Turkey.

Tel Aviv signals Israel will continue striking Syria with no respect to de-escalation zone agreement

The Israeli regime has signaled that Tel Aviv would continue with military strikes across the Syrian border to thwart any alleged encroachment by Iranian-allied forces, including the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, even by violating a de-escalation zone designated by Russia and the US in the southwest of the Arab country.
Back on July 7, Russia, the US and Jordan agreed to back a ceasefire in southwestern Syria and to establish a de-escalation zone in the Syrian provinces of Dara’a, Suwayda and Quneitra, which borders the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The truce came into force two days later and proved to be helpful in reducing fighting in the designated area.

Israel has already said that it refuses to abide by the July 7 truce deal. Later in the month, the regime’s Minister of Military Affairs Avigdor Liberman affirmed that “Israel reserves its complete freedom of action, regardless of any understandings or developments” in the region.

Permanent Iranian military base being built in Syria - reports

A western intelligence source has claimed to the BBC that Iran is building a new permanent military base in Syria just to the south of Damascus.

This came as Israel claimed it will not tolerate an Iranian military base in Syria as the country borders the Zionist entity.

"Israel will not let that happen," he said in September.

Although the BBC acknowledged it was difficult to verify if Iranian troops were present and that there were no signs of heavy weaponry, western intelligence have emphasized to the BBC that it is a military installment.

"ISRAEL WILL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN": IRAN IS REPORTEDLY BUILDING A MILITARY BASE IN SYRIA

On Friday, the "western press" started to set the stage for war between Lebanon (and Iran) and Saudi Arabia (and Israel).

Just a few hours later, a far more provocative report was published by the BBC, according to which Iran is establishing a permanent military base inside Syria, citing a Western intelligence source. The report, predictably, comes amid growing tensions over Iranian influence in Syria and across the region, and as the Saudi-Israel "alliance" is desperate to find a pretext to begin war.

As the BBC adds, the Iranian military is said to have established a compound at a site used by the Syrian army outside El-Kiswah, 14 km (8 miles) south of Damascus.

Needless to say, for Israel this would constitute the crossing of a "red line" by Iran: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu recently warned that Iran wanted to establish itself militarily in Syria. "Israel will not let that happen," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get this straight; Israel intends to go in, guns blazing, to invade a foreign country (Syria) to get rid of the presence of another foreign country (Iran) with absolutely zero credible proof as to what the purpose of these buildings are, other than some dodgy half-claims, convenient to Israel's case for invasion, which utterly cannot be backed up by facts?!?!?

Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please; if the IDF goes forward and attacks, Israel will never, ever have any credibility in the world, ever again. That might not particularly matter to you, but it will matter to future generations of Israelis.

SYRIA WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 9, 2017: GOVERNMENT FORCES LIBERATE AL-BUKAMAL FROM ISIS

On November 8, pro-government forces successfully advanced northeast of the T2 pumping station, liberated Ratka oil field, Suwayyah, al-Hiri, Huwayjat Baghuz and entered the city of al-Bukamal at the Syrian-Iraqi border.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the National Defense Forces and Hezbollah, supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces, participated in the operation from the Syrian side of the border. Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units participated from the Iraqi part of the border. Military advisers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps assisted the advancing troops on the both sides of the border.

By November 9, the SAA and its allies are still in need to consolidate their recent gains in the area and to secure and demine al-Bukamal. ISIS terrorists control some points in the desert area north of the city and could use a wide network of underground tunnels to conduct counter-attacks.

Syria endgame forces Saudi Arabia’s hand

The Syrian conflict is rapidly coming to a conclusion, as demonstrated by the government’s retaking of the strategic Deir Ez-Zor province. The Syrian government has pressed home its advantage by wresting control of the border town of Abu Kamal away from Daesh.

The retaking of Abu Kamal is critically important at many levels, not least because it points to passive acquiescence by the United States to the eastward march of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies. Previously the US had appeared to be committed to denying Syria the opportunity to retake the eastern part of the country.

Israel in Contact With Russia on Syria as 'Moscow's Role in Expanding' - Analyst

Commenting on a recent statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Tel Aviv would not tolerate Tehran’s military presence in Syria, Kedmi emphasized that the country wants neither Iran nor pro-Iranian Shiite groups’ present on Syria’s soil. At the same time, according to the analyst, this rhetoric also serves the domestic agenda.

"The goal is to find a threat to distract public attention from domestic issues and from the complicated situation Netanyahu and his supporters have found themselves in. But Tel Aviv really doesn’t want Iranian military bases in Syria. But I think there is a little chance that it is possible despite Tehran’s intention to do so," Kedmi told Sputnik Serbia.

Trump: Year One – Justin Raimondo

Trump is neither monster nor savior, and that is surely evident on this first anniversary of the Trump victory

As the one year anniversary of Trump’s triumph approaches, the pathetic remnants of American liberalism still haven’t recognized its meaning, or reconciled themselves to their loss of State power. They dream of impeachment, or even an outright coup: their contempt for the Great American Middle – “the deplorables!” – defines their politics, which, by now, are almost entirely negative: anti-Trump, anti-Russia, anti-bourgeois.

President Bashar al-Assad: U.S. and Its Western Allies Are to Blame for Failure of Latest Ceasefire

President Bashar al-Assad asserted that the United States and its Western allies are to blame for the failure of latest ceasefire, because terrorism and terrorists are for them a card they want to play on the Syrian arena.

In an interview given to the Serbian newspaper Politika, President al-Assad said that Russia is very serious and very determined to continue fighting the terrorists, while the Americans base their politics on a different value as they use the terrorists as a card to play the political game to serve their own interests at the expense of the interests of other countries in the world.

Expert: Hariri's resignation is a sign that Saudis and U.S-Israel are pursuing a disastrous 'Plan B'

To contextualize the resignation of Hariri in Lebanon, we must understand the ongoing development of the liberation of Syrian land as a result of the work of the Syrian Arab Army and their allies especially that of Hezbollah, where their elected leadership has already said that soon enough there would be the total liberation of Syria from ISIS, and we have already seen it this week in Iraq now in Iraq, and we are supposed to see it again between today and tomorrow when the SAA and allies reach Al Bukamal, which is a border area between Iraq and Syria.

So all of these events happening inside of Syria which indicate that the Saudis have indeed lost their war, especially with their proxies being a total failure inside of Syria, it has shown that now it's time for 'Plan B'.

SYRIA WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 7, 2017: SYRIAN ARMY PULVERIZES AL-QAEDA POSITIONS IN NORTHERN HAMA

While the Syrian Tiger Forces and their allies are preparing for a final push towards the ISIS-held town of al-Bukamal, important developments are also taking place in the area west of the Ithriyah-Khanaser road.

Since October, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have been conducting a military operation in the area against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in order to expand the buffer zone near the Ithriyah-Khanaser part of the Ithriyah-Aleppo highway and to shorten the frontline in northeastern Hama.

Some pro-government sources even speculate that the SAA and the NDF may seek to reach the Abu Duhur Military Airbase, but this would take a large-scale advance, which would require deployment of additional reinforcements.

ISIS’ SELF-PROCLAIMED “CALIPHATE” IS WITNESSING ITS LAST DAYS IN SYRIA AND IRAQ

The self-proclaimed caliphate of ISIS has suffered a double blow in Syria and Iraq. While US-backed forces were democratically negotiating with ISIS-linked Arab tribes in the Omar oil fields and nearby areas, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) Tiger Forces and the Republican Guard supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces undemocratically crushed the ISIS defense inside Deir Ezzor city. On November 3, Syrian forces liberated Deir Ezzor after they had retaken all neighborhoods which were controlled by ISIS terrorists in the northern part of the city. On November 4, the SAA secured Kati’ Island north of Deir Ezzor and secured the recent gains.

The SAA lifted the three-years long ISIS siege from Deir Ezzor city on September 5 and from Deir Ezzor Airport on September 10. Government troops needed less than a month to liberate the entire area.

Syria deal may be on agenda for Putin-Trump Asia meeting: report

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump may discuss a Syria settlement at an Asian economic summit in Vietnam next week, the RIA news agency reported on Saturday.

Relations between Moscow and Washington have soured further since Putin and Trump first met at a G20 summit in Hamburg in July when they discussed allegations of Russian meddling in the U.S. election, but agreed to focus on better ties..

Tensions have risen over the conflict in Syria, after Russia vetoed a United Nations plan to continue an ongoing investigation into chemical weapons..

A Syria settlement “is being discussed” for the agenda of a possible meeting between the two presidents, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by RIA, adding it was in their common interest to have enough time to discuss the issue.

“Somehow or another it requires cooperation,” Peskov said.

Trump told Fox News this week that it was possible he would meet Putin during his Asia trip.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that this happens; a positive result from such a meeting could do much to ratchet down tensions in the entire region.

WMD in Syria just like Iraq in 2003?

Supposedly the Syrian government decided to use a banned chemical weapon which they gave up in 2013-2014. Despite advancing against the insurgents, the Syrian government supposedly put sarin in a Russian chemical weapon canister and dropped this on the town Khan Shaykhun which has been under the control of Syria’s version of Al Qaeda for years. To top off the stupidity, they left paint markings on the canister which identify it as a chemical weapon. Supposedly the Syrian government did this despite knowing there are many “White Helmet” activists in the town along with with their cameras, videos, computers, internet uplinks and western social media promoters. Supposedly the Syrian government did this despite knowing that neo-conservatives, neo-liberals and zionists are keen to prolong the conflict and drag the US and NATO into it.

ISRAEL CONSIDERING SYRIA OPERATION IN GOLAN HEIGHTS

The Israeli military said on Friday it was ready to protect the Druze village of Hader on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights after a car bomb killed nine people in a Druze town.

The statement was an unusually explicit Israeli pledge to intervene in the war in Syria, where Israeli officials are voicing deeper alarm at the role of Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah, which are fighting alongside the Syrian government.

Syrian state media said Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly the Nusra Front, was responsible for the bomb which killed nine people and injured 23 in southwestern Quneitra.

Rockets and gunfire followed the bomb, the report said, adding the number of casualties was expected to rise.

Syrian rebel groups launched an attack on Syrian government-held areas in Quneitra on Friday, with the aim of connecting two insurgent-held areas. The attack included the car bomb in Hader.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The primary operative question here, is just how long, and to what degree, will Russia allow this before turning on the Israeli force and blowing it, ultimately, to kingdom come.

The Russian government is not going to be very tolerant of any force in the region which attempts to further destabilize the Al Assad regime, and can be expected to respond forcefully to anything which appears to be a significant step in that direction.

Libya, Syria, Ukraine – Same Playbook, Same Puppet Masters

Geopolitics becomes a lot easier if we can discern repeating patterns. Is Trump Planning Escalated US Aggression in Syria?

According to Major General James Jarrard, head of US special operations in Syria and Iraq, 4,000 Pentagon troops are in Syria. Trump claimed 500.

It’s an open secret that far more US military personnel are deployed in combat and other theaters, Pentagon commanders suppressing what’s vital to know.

Trump claimed around 5,300 US troops in Iraq. The actual force may be double or triple this number. Their regional presence has nothing to do with combating ISIS, a scourge Washington supports, along with al-Qaeda, its al-Nusra offshoot and other terrorist groups, used to advance America’s imperium.

Russia and Washington submitted separate Security Council resolutions on extending the OPCW/UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM), investigating use of CWs in Syria, falsely blamed on Damascus despite no evidence proving it.

Russia wants the JIM extended until May 16, 2018. Washington proposed another 24 months.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What confounds me about this Presidency, and the people President Trump has around him is an appalling lack of imagination regarding any way to resolve any geopolitical situation, other than war.

Video From Recent Syria Attack Shows Israel Assisting, Opening Border Gate For Terrorists

By Brandon Turbeville

It has long been known that Israel is acting in direct support of terrorists in Syria by virtue of routine aerial assaults, intelligence, and medical care. However, if there was any doubt regarding this support, recent video evidence should easily do away with that doubt entirely.

On November 3, Israel acted in direct military support of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the Free Syrian Army by providing artillery cover as the two terror groups assaulted the Syrian government-held and predominately Druze town of Hader. The move was an attempt to break the siege of Beit Jinn, an area controlled by terrorists...

US resolution on chemical attack in Syria permits use of military power

The US resolution on chemical attack in Syria developed for the UN permits application of military power, reports TASS news agency.

The text, presented by the US delegation, contains threat of taking measures under the chapter VII of UN statute (permits sanctions and military force-KazTAG) for attacks with application of poisoning substances," reads the message.

Damascus Calls Israel 'Agent of Terrorism' After Airstrike on Syrian Factory

Tel Aviv and Damascus that have been in the state of war since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, have repeatedly exchanged tit-for-tat attacks.
BEIRUT (Sputnik) — The Syrian Foreign Ministry has sent a letter to the UN Security Council over an Israeli airstrike on a copper factory in Hassia area in Syria's Homs province, according to the ministry's documents published on Thursday.

"Yet another aggression of Israel… shows that Israeli authorities are not satisfied with the state terrorism against the Arab population in occupied Palestine, Syria and Lebanon. They want to play the role of the official agent of terrorism," the ministry's document read, as quoted by the SANA news agency.

Damascus' statement comes a day after a Lebanese security service source told Sputnik that Israeli aircraft had carried out an attack on targets in Syria from Lebanon's airspace.

Israeli warplanes have flown over Lebanese airspace into Syria where they carried out an airstrike, a Lebanese security official said Thursday.

SYRIA WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 2, 2017: GOVERNMENT FORCES CLEARING NORTHERN DEIR EZZOR FROM ISIS

The ISIS-held area is rapidly shrinking in the city of Deir Ezzor. On November 1, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) Tiger Forces and the Republican Guard liberated Jubaliyah neighborhood, the central park area, the school of law and education area and the southern part of Hamidiyah neighborhood.

Thus, over the last few days, ISIS has lost over 40% of the area that it had been controlling in the northern part of the city.

On November 2, the Tiger Forces and the Republican Guard advanced deeper in Hamidiyah engaging ISIS in an intense fighting. If the ISIS defense there collapses, the terrorist group will have no chances to resist further attacks of government forces any notable amount of time.

As soon as Deir Ezzor is liberated, the SAA and its allies will focus on clearing the rest of the western bank of Euphrates from ISIS.

Israel Attacks Syria’s Homs Province, Syria Fires Anti-Aircraft Missiles

The latest in a growing number of Israeli airstrikes against Syrian territory appears to have been one of the most ambitious yet, striking deep into the Homs Province, near the Lebanese border and destroying what was said to be a weapons depot for the Syrian military.

The attack destroyed the site, and provoked retaliatory fire from Syrian air defense, who fired a number of surface-to-air missiles at the Israeli warplanes. Israeli officials say none of their planes were hit in the incident.

Where this is all leading is another matter, however. Israel has been very public about being upset that the Assad government is winning the Syrian War, and with ISIS and al-Qaeda both on the ropes, Syria may not feel so overwhelmed by existing fights that they feel incapable of retaliating. Likewise, Russia’s patience with Israeli attacks has always been tentative, at best, and could quickly dry up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the Israeli government believes that it can continue to bomb Syria with impunity (due to the alleged "growing Iranian influence" there)will not be taken lightly by either the Syrian government, or the Russian government, which has been invited to get rid of all jihadists in the country.

Israel is probably more in danger if Russian patience snaps, because at that point, their military initiating these attacks could run into some very unpleasant surprises.

Pentagon: US General ‘Misspoke’ When Reporting 4,000 US Troops Deployed in Syria

Leading a video briefing from Baghdad October 31, Maj. Gen. James Jarrard, head of the US special operations task force against Daesh, said 4,000 US forces were on the ground in Syria, Stars and Stripes reports. Moments later, Jarrard corrected himself and stated there were only 503 US service members in Syria.

Senator Marco Rubio (R, Florida) criticized the Trump administration for its lack of any evident strategy in regard to the conflict between Iraq and the Kurds.

SYRIA-IRAQ WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 1, 2017: ISIS DEFENSE COLLAPSED IN DEIR EZZOR CITY

On October 31, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) Tiger Forces and the Republican Guard liberated the neighborhoods of Kanamat, Khassarat, Badr and Old Airport from ISIS in Deir Ezzor city. Government troops also advanced al-Hamidiyah, Sheikh Yassin and al-Ardhi.

Earlier, the SAA and its allies liberated liberation of worker 1, worker 2 and Afri neighborhoods. Thus, government forces retook about third of the area, which was controlled by ISIS in the northern part of the city.

On the same day, the Russian attack submarine ‘Veliky Novgorod’ launched 3 Kalibr cruise missiles on terrorist targets near the ISIS-held town of al-Bukamal. The missiles destroyed several fortified command points, where militants and vehicles were deployed, and a large weapons depot.

Russian submarine strikes ISIS command in Syria with Kalibr cruise missiles from Mediterranean

A Russian submarine has fired a barrage of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Mediterranean Sea at targets in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor governorate, destroying Islamic State command posts, fortifications and arms depots, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

On Tuesday, the ‘Veliky Novgorod’ attack submarine of the Varshavyanka class targeted positions of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group, said the ministry’s statement cited by Russian media.

The targets included several command points and a large weapons depot near the village of Abu Kemal, both of which were destroyed by the strike, the ministry said. A large group of militants was also successfully targeted.

UN Sarin Attack Report Goes Hand in Hand with US Militarization of Syria

For obvious reasons the Syrian government has rejected a bogus report sent to the United Nations Security Council that blamed it for a chemical attack on the opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhoun in April in which dozens of people were killed.

As maintained by Syrian government officials, the bogus report was compiled under instructions from the United States and other Western countries “to place more political pressure” on Syria. The report claims President Bashar Assad’s government was responsible for the release of Sarin at Khan Sheikhoun on April 4. The attack prompted an American missile strike against a Syrian air base that Washington claimed was used to launch the chemical attack.

It seems, however, more is at play here than meets the eye:

FORMER QATAR PRIME MINISTER: QATAR, SAUDI ARABIA, TURKEY, AND USA COLLUDED AND COORDINATED TO FUND AL QAEDA AND DESTROY SYRIA

Via Zerohedge…

A television interview of a top Qatari official confessing the truth behind the origins of the war in Syria is going viral across Arabic social media during the same week a leaked top secret NSA document was published which confirms that the armed opposition in Syria was under the direct command of foreign governments from the early years of the conflict.

And according to a well-known Syria analyst and economic adviser with close contacts in the Syrian government, the explosive interview constitutes a high level “public admission to collusion and coordination between four countries to destabilize an independent state, [including] possible support for Nusra/al-Qaeda.” Importantly, “this admission will help build case for what Damascus sees as an attack on its security & sovereignty. It will form basis for compensation claims.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So.... the US/Qatar/Saudi Arabian/Turkish war against Syria.... had absolutely zero basis in fact, only in propaganda: why am I not surprised?!?!?

And to those in the US alphabet soup agencies reading this, please understand: the American people now know that they are lied to, on a consistent basis, by their government, so they have stopped believing... and stopped listening to... the corporate presstitutes, dutifully regurgitating government propaganda, engineered to further the US Deep State Agenda.

This, primarily, is about engineering complete, hegemonic control of planetary resources; expropriating those resources to which this government, and the corporations which own them, have absolutely no moral right; and insure that those resources are only sold to American-approved governments, and only for US dollars.

However, the development of the PetroYuan, set to come about in the next couple of months, may well shatter the US dollar hegemony, and without China having fired a single shot.

A UN commission concluded that the Syrian government is responsible for a widely discussed incident in Khan Sheikhoun. An alleged gas attack by air happened in April in an al-Qaeda controlled area in Syria. It was used by the White House to justify its bombing of a Syrian airbase.

The now released report was made to fit the narrative. The details below show that it was not the result of a serious investigation. This explains why Russia blocked the extension of the mandate of the reporting commission.

On October 26 Reuters reported: Syrian government to blame for April sarin attack: U.N. report

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad is to blame for a chemical attack on the opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhoun that killed dozens of people last April, according to a report sent to the United Nations Security Council on Thursday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Timing of the release of such a report, is never accidental.

So one has to wonder; just what are the US and Israel going to do, collectively, to Syria, to "punish" its leadership for a chemical attack it does not appear the Syrian government actually did?!?

The Israeli government has been very public in stating that as long as there is any Iranian presence in Syria, they will continue to bomb it.

Israel is going to war in Syria to Fight Iran.

US backed rebels gain foothold on large oil field in Syria, and refuse to give it back to the Syrian government. US Backed Syrian rebels capture huge, formerly ISIS-controlled oil field, refuse to give it back to the Syrian government

So, the US government now has a small "beachhead" in Syria, from which Israeli military can maneuver.

It is only a matter of time before both countries, working in concert, will try a decap strike against Damascus, pushing both countries into a potential military confrontation with Russia in Syria.

This is a coming collective "you can't fix stupid" moment, for both the US and the Israeli government, if they think, for a moment, that Russia will not counter them militarily, and soon.

Another Military Column of Turkish Army Enters Northwestern Syria

Another long convoy of the Turkish Army vehicles arrived in the Northwestern province of Idlib amid dispatches of more Ankara troops to Northwestern Idlib, dissident-affiliated websites reported. The websites said that a long convoy of the Turkish army entered the town of Kafar Lusin in Northern Idlib. The websites said that the Turkish convoy included several trucks, personnel carriers and armored vehicles, adding that the convoy further headed towards Western Aleppo. Ex-Qatari PM Discloses S. Arabia's Role in Syria Crisis

Former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani revealed that his country, alongside Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United States, began shipping weapons to the terrorists in Syria from the very moment events started in 2011. "Saudi Arabia had entrusted Qatar with overthrowing Assad's government, and weapons and ammunition were supplied to the armed groups (terrorists) in Syria, including al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board), in coordination with Turkey and the US army," al-Thani said in an interview with Qatari TV. He also underlined the Arab regimes' willingness to establish friendly ties with Israel, adding that no one speaks of freedom of Quds any more and everyone just speaks of normalizing relations with Tel Aviv.

US Trying Hard to Prevent Syrian Army from Capturing ISIL-Held Albu Kamal

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are getting ready to march towards the ISIL-held town of Albu Kamal at the border with Iraq amid the Syrian Army troops' advances to capture the strategic town. The army men and their popular allies are now in rush towards the ISIL-held town of Albu Kamal after capturing the town of al-Mayadeen and many more regions in the Southeastern territories of Deir Ezzur province. According to field reports, the US-backed SDF have also started to advance towards the strategic border town of Albu Kamal in the Southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzur province, as Kurdish units have reportedly expanded their control over new sites located South of the Al-Umar Fields.

Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists possess depots contain toxic material in Idleb

Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization possess depots and hideouts which contain toxic weapons in a number of villages and towns, particularly in Ma’arat Misrin , 9km north of Idleb city, local sources said Sunday. The sources told SANA that al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization possesses a number of depots which contain toxic materials in Idleb Province, asserting that the Takfiri organization stores shells filled with toxic materials in the towns of Ghazleh and Ma’arat Misrin. On 19 October, The US Department of State admitted that Ahrar al-Sham terrorist organization possesses chemical weapons in Idleb. The sources added that part of the toxic substances possessed by the terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra is locally made, while the other part is manufactured in private factories, likely Americans.

Guarantor stats: Work of de-escalation zones in Syria positive

Russia, Iran and Turkey, the guarantor states of the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria, have assessed as “positive” the work of the de-escalation zones in Syria. Russian Interfax News Agency on Monday quoted a source close to Astana-7 meeting as saying that the de-escalation zones showed noticeable effectiveness over the past period as they all enjoy peace and everything in these areas goes well. The guarantor states signed the Russian memorandum on de-escalation zones during the plenary session of the Astana 4 meeting held in Kazakh’s capital of Astana with the participation of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic headed by Bashar al-Jaafari and other delegations.

The source added that the quick calls by the US and the alliance for rebuilding Raqqa is an act of scam and fraud on the public opinion seeking to cover up the destruction they caused in Raqqa. “Reign of the Assad Family Is Coming to an End” – US Secretary of State Tillerson

The U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, stated on Thursday that the reign of the Assad family is coming to an end, contrasting his previous comments in March declaring that the Syrian President’s removal was not a priority for the U.S. regime.

“The reign of the Assad family is coming to an end,” Tillerson stated after his meeting with the head of the UN Envoy of Syria, Stephan de Mistura, in Geneva.

Tillerson stated he is unsure of how to bring about Assad’s end, but remained confident this would happen.

The Secretary of State would then take a shot at the Syrian Army, claiming they are only successful because of Russian airstrikes.

“The only reason Syrian forces have been successful has been because of the air support they have received from Russia,” Tillerson concluded.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has only to observe Tillerson's body language in the picture here, to understand precisely about what he is thinking; look at the clenched fists, and the expression on his face.

Are we potentially looking at a US decap strike on Damascus to take Al-Assad out?!? And has Russian President Vlad Putin gotten the memo?!?

I think the real question we need to ask here is, what is Russia prepared to do, militarily, in Syria to prevent this from happening?!?

I am hoping we are not looking at a war between Russia and the US government over the fate of Syria; unfortunately, both countries appear slouching toward such a confrontation, and potentially very soon.

ISIS Shores Up Defenses at Key Border Stronghold

The main border crossing between Iraq and Syria, the city of Abu Kamal on the Syrian side and al-Qaim on the Iraqi side, is the last major territorial possession of ISIS, and the next big target for both Syria and Iraq’s militaries.

With those offensives likely to happen soon, ISIS is building up its defenses around the area, pushing more forces into the area while, according to US officials, ISIS leaders are being evacuated to smaller towns inside Syria that they still control.

ISIS still holds substantial territory in Syria, mostly in Deir Ezzor Province. They’ve been losing all the big cities and towns, along the Euphrates River, with Syrian military pushing on the river’s south shore, and Kurdish fighters taking the north shore.

US officials are suggesting an attack on Abu Kamal would be up to the Kurds to decide, but the Syrian military is likely to get there first.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This suggestion comes at a time when the Kurds are seeking more autonomy in Iraq; perhaps they believe that in uniting with the US and Iraqi military, to continue fighting ISIS, the Kurds will have an easier time in negotiating just how that autonomy shakes out for them.

Potential showdown in eastern Syria over IS-held territory

As U.S.-allied fighters hurtle down the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, a showdown could ensue between the U.S. and Russia, whose allies are racing to take over the same strategic oil-rich territory from the Islamic State group.

While the two sides will likely avoid a direct confrontation, the capture of Raqqa by the U.S.-backed forces, followed by their swift seizure of Syria's largest oil field from IS, has irked Damascus, which needs the oil to boost its flagging economy.

As the rival international coalitions compete to defeat the militants and snap up oil and gas fields, the Russian military has issued a stream of angry statements, accusing the U.S. of colluding with the Islamic State and other extremist groups in a bid to stymie the government's advances.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think, at this point, it is only a matter of time before we see Russian/Syrian and US-backed jihadists tangling militarily.

The potential for a US strike has been escalated by Israeli threats (and the carrying out of those threats) to strike Syria as long as there is any Iranian military presence there.

Israel is going to war in Syria to fight Iran

The situation in Syria looks as though it is heading into a very volatile place, and I hope Russia can ratchet down the tensions.

BEX ALERT - UN-OPCW investigators ‘confident’ Damascus is to blame for April sarin attack

The new UN-sponsored report by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), conducted by the Joint Investigation Mission (JIM), supported the initial findings which blamed Syria’s Air Force for deploying sarin in the Syrian town, according to media reports.

JIM said it “is confident that the Syrian Arab Republic is responsible for the release of sarin at Khan Shaykhun,” AP and AFP reported citing key findings and conclusions they have "seen." The report’s authors also allegedly asserted that the “sarin was delivered via an aerial bomb that was dropped by an airplane.”

Russia's Permanent Mission to the UN voiced concern that cherry-picked details of the findings, which are yet to be made public, were already circulating in the media.

SYRIA-IRAQ WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 26, 2017: US-BACKED FORCES WON OIL RACE ON EASTERN BANK OF EUPHRATES

On October 26, US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued their successful operation on the eastern bank of the Euphrates and entered the oil fields of al-Tanak and Galban, according to pro-Kurdish sources. Earlier, the US-backed force reportedly established control over the oil fields of Azraq and Jarnof, Saban, Northern Omar, Maleh and Mqaat.

Thus, the SDF de-facto won the race for the oil and gas infrastructure located in the area with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Pro-opposition sources reported that ISIS just handed over the al-Tanak oil field to the SDF within the framework of the previously reached agreement. No more details were provided. Most likely these reports are linked to the alleged SDF-ISIS deal reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on October 22. According to this report, ISIS was set to surrender the entire area including Hajin village to the US-backed force.

Tillerson: Assad family reign coming to end, only issue is how to bring it about

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says the “reign of the Assad family” in Syria is coming to an end, and the “only issue is how that can be brought about.”

Tillerson's comments were made following a meeting with UN envoy Staffan de Mistura in Geneva.

“The United States wants a whole and unified Syria with no role for Bashar al-Assad in the government,” Tillerson said, as quoted by Reuters. “The reign of the Assad family is coming to an end. The only issue is how that should that be brought about.”

Israel Now Threatening Military Escalation with Neighboring Syria

As 21WIRE reported earlier this week, Israel’s violation of Lebanese airspace (supposedly to bomb a Hezbollah convoy driving from Syria to Lebanon) prompted the Syrian Arab Army to launch a SA-5 (S-200) ground to air missile, towards the Israeli jets flying over Lebanon, which then prompted the Israeli Air Force to retaliate by flying over the occupied Golan Heights and target a Syria Army ground position.

The total number of Israeli attacks against Syria since 2011 could number as high as 20, however, as veteran Middle East correspondent Elijah J. Magnier points out, this exchange marked an important new shift in Israel’s rules of engagement against Syria and Hezbollah in Syrian and Lebanese territory.

Israel’s response has been rather bellicose to say the least, as the US-backed rogue state continues to thwart the “rules-based international community” through its systematic violation of international law under the elastic guise of ‘defending itself.’

SYRIA WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 25, 2017: US-BACKED FORCES SEIZE MORE OIL FIELDS IN DEIR EZZOR PROVINCE

Late on October 24, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accused the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) of attacking its units on the eastern ban of the Euphrates, near Deir Ezzor city.

The incident allegedly took place at Jubaylah.

According to the SDF Press Office, ISIS forces attacked the SDF at the Jafra train station at the same time, but lost 9 fighters and were forced to retreat.

The US-backed force allegedly “repelled” both the attacks and lost no ground in the area. No photos or videos confirming the clashes were provided.

Meanwhile, pro-government sources reported no clashes with the SDF.

Just another neocon in Israels pocket!

Stephen K. Bannon joined other Republican grandees such as Sen. Tom Cotton at a packed event in Washington on Monday.

Bannon, who has sometimes been cited as “Trump’s dove,” has emerged as one of the harshest critics of Iran in Trumpworld, collaborating extensively with former UN ambassador John Bolton, as I’ve reported. Bolton thinks the current move on the JCPOA is essentially for show: the deal is unsalvageable. His plan, backed by extreme hardliners like Frank Gaffney, calls for discussing military options with Israel against Iran and backing Kurdish national aspirations, which is a nonstarter for Iran, Turkey and the Shia-dominated government in Iraq; Bolton was spotted entering the White House on Monday.

Are Our Mideast Wars Forever?

As their U.S. allies watched, the Kurdish peshmerga fighters were run out of Kirkuk and all the territory they had captured fighting ISIS alongside the Americans. The Iraqi army that ran them out was trained and armed by the United States.

The U.S. had warned the Kurds against holding the referendum on independence on Sept. 25, which carried with 92 percent. Iran and Turkey had warned against an independent Kurdistan that could be a magnet for Kurdish minorities in their own countries.

But the Iraqi Kurds went ahead. Now they have lost Kirkuk and its oil, and their dream of independence is all but dead.

More troubling for America is the new reality revealed by the rout of the peshmerga. Iraq, which George W. Bush and the neocons were going to fashion into a pro-Western democracy and American ally, appears to be as close to Iran as it is to the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The American people have grown infinitely more war-weary and more war-sceptical than at any other time I have observed them, since the Vietnam War era.

I seriously doubt that they will support more wars, when our existing ones in places like Iraq; Niger; Somalia; Afghanistan; Syria; and Yemen are going so generally horribly badly.

That Iran should become politically dominant in Baghdad, Beiruit, or Damascus, is one of the unintended consequences of a number of poorly thought out and ill conceived war scenarios, dating back to the Bush era, which did not account for for the potential hazards of getting involved militarily in the region the first place. And despite all the cheerleading from Israel's Netanyahu and Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman regarding regime change in Tehran, such a move would most likely box the US government into another no-win situation, as is the current US/NATO occupation of Afghanistan.

The primary charactarization of US foreign policy over the last 16 years has to be that of magical thinking, which had absolutely zero basis in reality, but the horrific costs, in American blood and money, have been all too real.

In looking at the corporate US-presstitute demonization I am seeing of both Russia and Iran, it looks as though President Trump is ultimately looking to wage wars against both these countries; I just hope he understands that our military cannot fight both at the same time, although that is what will happen if he attacks Iran, because Russia's mllitary and civilian leadership have long pledged to defend it if it is attacked militarily.

I would like to politely point out that as a result of assisting Syria against its jihadis, Russia has earned the envy of the world in terms of its weaponry, and how well it has functioned in real-world combat conditions; the US has the Lockheed-Martin F-35 to offer, which is still incapable of working as advertised, no matter how many billions of dollars the DOD has thrown at it.

The Occupied, Unhinged Surveilled State of Amerika, at this moment the 21st century, has become a true rogue nation, and one that no nation in its collective right mind could possibly trust to keep its word; look at what President Trump has just done with the P5+1 agreement, as an example. The only way it seems to get its way, is through hubristic bellicosity, lies, and war, rather than hard-won, moral negotiations.

I would like to hope that the White House, Congress, State Department and Pentagon have the capability to think through their next moves in the in the Middle East through very thoroughly, and carefully; The next moves here, if not done with extreme care and caution, could well spark a Third World.

US Airstrike Kills 14 Civilians in Eastern Syria

US warplanes attacked the Qusur District of Syria’s city of Deir Ezzor, a government-held area in the nation’s far east, killing at least 14 civilians and wounding 32 others, according to reports.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 22 civilians had been killed in the attack. The US has not commented on the incident yet, but spokesman Col. Dillon promised to “check the reports.”

He said there would be “no reason” for the US to attack the city, as neither the US nor its Kurdish allies are operating in the area. That, of course, is not exactly a denial, and it’s unclear if we’ll hear about it again soon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not know what the Vegas odds are of the US and Russian engaging in direct military conflict in Syria; but my guess is, we are right on the keening edge of this happening, if the US keeps attacking this sovererign nation, against which the US government has not declared war, and which has not invited this country to assist them in getting rid of their jihadist rebels.

US MERCENARIES, IRAQI HIGHWAYS AND THE MYSTERY OF THE NEVER-ENDING ISIS HORDES

Maps of the conflict stretching over the last several years show clear corridors used to reinforce IS positions, leading primarily from Turkey’s southern border and to a lesser extent, from Jordan’s borders.

However, another possible vector may be desert highways in Iraq’s western Anbar province where US military contractors are allegedly to “provide security” as well as build gas stations and rest areas. These highways contributed to the current conflict and still serve as a hotbed for state–sponsored terrorism. Whether these US-controlled and -improved highways pose a significant threat for a reorganized effort by the US and its regional allies to divide and destroy Iraq and Syria seems all but inevitable.

The Islamic State’s de facto invasion of Syria and Iraq was a more massive and dramatic replay of an earlier surge of foreign militants into the region, following the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.

Press review: Iraq, Russia to deepen ties and Syrian opposition, Damascus eye direct talks

Moscow will host a meeting of the Russian-Iraqi intergovernmental commission on Tuesday. The parties are expected to discuss the energy projects in Kirkuk whose implementation came into question after the province was put under the control of the central government in Baghdad, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes. For one, Russia’s Rosneft oil company had reached an agreement with Erbil on several projects, including the construction of a gas pipeline in the autonomous region, according to media reports. The Russian energy giant, Gazprom, was likewise eying joint energy projects with Erbil. Now Russia will have to conduct negotiations on these deals with Baghdad rather than Erbil.

CNN Caught Creating Fake News Again: Adding Words To Syrian Witness’ Statement To Fit Western Narrative

The CNN reporter predictably attributes the horrors facing the civilians as a result of the eastern part of Aleppo “being under siege by the Syrian military,” not the fact that terrorists had seized east Aleppo and were fighting to the death to keep it. Still he quotes an older man who paints a less than typical CNN-style portrayal of the “rebels.” The man says, “I wanted to leave with my kids fifteen days ago but the rebels shot at me and said ‘Hey you bastard! Do you want to join the regime?’”

The only thing surprising about the man’s statement was that it was actually aired on CNN.

US NOW ADMITS SYRIAN "REBELS" HAVE USED CHEMICAL WEAPONS

rom the first moment chemical weapons were used on the Syrian battlefield, the American public was led to believe that only one side could possibly be responsible. The constant refrain in the echo chamber of US government officials and the mainstream media was that only the Assad government possessed chemical stockpiles and the technological capability of deploying such heinous weapons, therefore blame for each and every chemical attack from Ghouta to Khan Sheikhoun was laid at the feet of Assad and the Syrian military.

And yet last Wednesday, for the first time, the US State Department casually dropped an important admission into its official Syria travel warning for American citizens: that the core rebel group currently operating in northwest Syria not only possesses but has used chemical weapons - to the point that the State Department considers it a major enough threat to publicly warn citizens about.

The goal was to see the country in person, get a sense of what life is like in Syria today, talk to the Syrian people and hear their side of things; i.e. their opinions on the government and the “rebels/terrorists,” their living conditions, Syria before the war versus Syria now, and whatever else they wanted to share. We wanted to see the areas formerly under control of the terrorists and talk to the residents there. We also wanted to visit the areas firmly under government control and speak to the residents living in these areas as well.

Russia says the US has wiped the Syrian city of Raqqah "off the face of the earth" with carpet bombing in the same way the United States and Britain bombed Germany's Dresden in 1945.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry accused the West of having rushed to provide aid to Raqqah to cover up its own crimes.

"Raqqah has inherited the fate of Dresden in 1945, wiped off the face of the earth by Anglo-American bombardments," said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenko.
