In torture we trust: Trump nominees Mike Pompeo & Gina Haspel signal return to medieval Bush days

Just when it appeared that orange jumpsuits and waterboarding were out of fashion, Trump called up fresh recruits from the dungeon to fill key posts in his administration. Needless to say, human rights groups are not impressed.
This week, in one fell swoop, Donald Trump announced to his 49.1 million Twitter followers a shakeup of epic proportions in his revolving-door administration.

Mike Pompeo, director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), is to replace Rex Tillerson as the secretary of state, while the seldom-seen CIA Deputy Director Gina Haspel got sent upstairs as director of the agency, an American answer to Britain’s M, if you will – James Bond’s female boss.

The Nuremberg judges rejected the Nuremberg defense, and both Jodl and Keitel were hanged. The United Nations International Law Commission later codified the underlying principle from Nuremberg as “the fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under international law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him.”

This is likely the most famous declaration in the history of international law and is as settled as anything possibly can be.

However, many members of the Washington, D.C. elite are now stating that it, in fact, is a legitimate defense for American officials who violate international law to claim they were just following orders.

Specifically, they say Gina Haspel, a top CIA officer whom President Donald Trump has designated to be the agency’s next director, bears no responsibility for the torture she supervised during George W. Bush’s administration.

British Scientists Balked at Pressure to Link Nerve Gas to Russia

"It is very carefully worded propaganda. Of a type developed by liars."

I have now received confirmation from a well placed FCO (UK Foreign Ministry) source that Porton Down (Ministry of Defense science laboratory) scientists are not able to identify the nerve gas as being of Russian manufacture, and have been resentful of the pressure being placed on them to do so.

Porton Down would only sign up to the formulation “of a type developed by Russia” after a rather difficult meeting where this was agreed as a compromise formulation>>>

US and UK Trying to 'Iraq' Russia - What's Really Happening

Whether Theresa May comprehends the situation, whether she resolves the internal issues, whether she's the person who's being pushed towards this decision, to blow up this scandal, it's a whole different question. Haley: World Must Punish Russia or They’ll Chemical Attack New York City Next

Most people may not draw an immediate connection between Salisbury and New York City. US Ambassador Nikki Haley sees a direct route from the one to the other as part of a Russian chemical weapons plot for which no real evidence exists.

Speaking at an “emergency” UN Security Council session, Haley demanded “immediate, concrete measures” against the Russians based on Britain blaming them for poisonings in Salisbury. She claimed they amount to a chemical weapons attack, and UN credibility is at stake if a permanent council member can do that.

Germany: CIA deputy Gina Haspel must face arrest on travelling to Europe

ECCHR’s legal intervention filed with the German Federal Public Prosecutor (Generalbundesanwalt – GBA) is aimed at securing an arrest warrant for CIA Deputy Director Gina Haspel. Haspel was appointed to the post by President Donald Trump in February 2017. The information submitted to the GBA by ECCHR on 6 June 2017 documents Haspel’s role in the torture of detainees in 2002 at a secret CIA prison in Thailand. In the dossier, ECCHR argues that Haspel oversaw the daily torture of detainees at the black site in 2002 and failed to do anything to stop it.

“Those who commit, order or allow torture should be brought before a court – this is especially true for senior officials from powerful nations,” said ECCHR’s General Secretary Wolfgang Kaleck. “The prosecutor must, under the principle of universal jurisdiction, open investigations, secure evidence and seek an arrest warrant. If the deputy director travels to Germany or Europe, she must be arrested.”

UN: US Attack On Syrian Civilians Violated International Law

Last week, war crimes investigators at the United Nations charged a U.S.-led coalition with violating international humanitarian law last year when it launched airstrikes on a school in Syria that killed at least 150 civilians.

The war crimes investigators reported that internally displaced families had been sheltering in the school since 2012. The investigators said that U.S.-led coalition forces failed to take proper precautions to avoid the loss of civilian life during the attack, which took place in al-Mansoura, near Raqqa.

The investigators disputed the claims of high-level U.S. military officials that 30 Islamic State (ISIS or IS) fighters had been targeted and killed in the attack.

Trump picks real-life Carrie Mathison to be CIA's first female boss after she ran a 'black site' where terrorist suspects were tortured and waterboarded

President Donald Trump's choice to be the first female director of the CIA, Gina Haspel, is a career spymaster who once ran an agency prison in Thailand where terror suspects were subjected to a harsh interrogation technique that the president has supported.

Trump tweeted Tuesday that he would nominate CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace Rex Tillerson as secretary of state and that he has selected Gina Haspel to replace Pompeo.

Haspel, 61, the current deputy CIA director, also helped carry out an order that the agency destroy its waterboarding videos.

That order prompted a lengthy Justice Department investigation that ended without charges.

Her nomination is already drawing opposition from Democrats, due to her role overseeing the torture of two terror suspects at a secret CIA prison in Thailand.

Allegations Of Torture Have Blocked The Rise Of Trump's Choice To Lead The CIA Before

Gina Haspel, who Trump named to replace Mike Pompeo as CIA director, ran a black site in Thailand where two suspected terrorists were tortured during the Bush administration.

Mar 13 12:58

The CIA’s new nominee director Gina Haspel once ran a torture site and destroyed evidence

As CIA director Mike Pompeo moves to become the United States’ secretary of state, deputy director Gina Haspel has been nominated to lead the agency. If confirmed by the Senate, she will become the first woman to run the CIA.

Haspel’s nomination will be controversial; she played a leading role (paywall) in running a US torture site abroad and later destroyed the evidence of it.

In 2002, she oversaw a secret prison in Thailand that tortured two terrorism suspects. That torture took place within the CIA’s “extraordinary rendition” program, in which suspected terrorists are sent to US allies, and interrogated in “black sites” on their soil.

One of the men, known as Abu Zubayda, was waterboarded 83 times in one month and was slammed into walls by the head. He was deprived of sleep and kept in a coffin-like box. Interrogators later decided he didn’t have any useful information.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My bet will be that her nomination will be accepted, because this is what the US government believes is needed right now in the head of the CIA; someone with unrestrained bloodlust, who, robotically and unfailingly, hates all the enemies of the American Deep State, without ever asking why they are enemies, and is absolutely fine with having them tortured and killed to appease her Warlord Masters.

She was reportedly involved in the rendition and torture programs ca. 2003-4 and actually was senior officer in charge of one of the overseas prisons located in Thailand, which was the epicenter of the “enhanced interrogation” program and the site where al-Qaeda prisoner Abu Zubaydah was waterboarded 83 times, “tortured so brutally that at one point he appeared to be dead.” In 2005 she also ordered the destruction of the video tapes made of the interrogations to avoid providing evidence to any congressional inquiry into what had gone on.

The chief inspector of prisons, Peter Clarke, says that some of the 537 detainees held in Harmondsworth at the time of the inspection last October had been in detention for too long, with 23 held for more than a year pending their removal. One man had been held for more than four and a half years.

Who Profits From Keeping Gaza On The Brink Of Humanitarian Catastrophe?

>>>As long as Gaza remains on the brink of collapse, international donors keep the flow of humanitarian aid money going. If the crisis were ended and the siege lifted, it is safe to assume that that the international donors would change the type of aid they provide and return to focus on the development of the Gazan economy (as they did from 1994—2000, until the outbreak of the Second Intifada). This type of aid would likely compete with certain branches of Israeli companies and therefore threaten the Israeli economy. Keeping Gaza on the verge of collapse keeps international humanitarian aid money flowing exactly to where it benefits Israeli interests.

New billboard campaign raises awareness about child prisoners held by Israel

Palestine Advocacy Project’s latest billboard ad campaign intends to raise awareness about Ahed Tamimi, the 17-year-old Palestinian activist who now faces up to 10 years in Israel’s military prison over an altercation with Israeli soldiers. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have called for Ahed’s immediate release.

On December 19 at 3AM, the Israeli military raided and ransacked Ahed’s home, arresting her along with her mother and cousin, and charged Ahed with 12 criminal counts, including assault and incitement.

During a protest, Ahed’s 14-year-old cousin was shot in the head at close range by an Israeli soldier. Israeli soldiers then invaded the Tamimi family’s home and threatened the entire family.

Ahed demanded the soldiers leave . After they refused, the unarmed Ahed slapped one of the heavily armed soldiers. It is clear from a video that later went viral, Ahed posed no actual threat to these soldiers.

West, silent on Damascus shelling, threatens Ghouta action

France has joined the US and Britain in threatening Damascus with possible airstrikes in the event of further chemical weapons use in Syria.

Their threats on Friday came as terrorist groups continued shelling a safe corridor declared by the Syrian government for civilians to leave Eastern Ghouta.

Takfiri terrorists have turned the enclave on the suburbs of Damascus to a launch pad for mortar attacks on the Syrian capital.

The Syrian army is currently in the midst of an operation to drive the terrorists out of Eastern Ghouta, but it is facing a hostile West threatening attacks on Syrian troops which it accuses of targeting civilians.

Western leaders were quick to point the finger at the Syrian government after reports of chlorine release in Eastern Ghouta last week.

For years, foreign-backed militants have appeared to release chemical substances in the areas close to the site of government airstrikes and capture the aftermath on videos.

The Pentagon’s “Ides of March”: Best Month to Go to War

Is it a coincidence?

In recent history, from the Vietnam war to the present, the month of March has been chosen by Pentagon and NATO military planners as the “best month” to go to war.

With the exception of the War on Afghanistan (October 2001) and the 1990-91 Gulf War, all major US-NATO and allied led military operations over a period of more than half a century –since the invasion of Vietnam by US ground forces on March 8, 1965– have been initiated in the month of March.

The Ides of March (Idus Martiae) is a day in the Roman calendar which broadly corresponds to March 15. The Ides of March is also known as the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC.

Lest we forget, the month of March (in the Roman Calendar) is dedicated to Mars (Martius), the Roman God of War.

For the Romans, the month of March (Martius) marked “the time to start new military campaigns.”

US Airstrike Kills 25, Including Children, in Eastern Syria: Slain were mostly women and children

A US airstrike in eastern Syria’s al-Shaafa region has killed at least 25 people on Monday, with more than half of the slain identified as women and children, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Details on the slain are still emerging, but US spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon attempted to downplay reports, saying the US takes “all allegations seriously,” and that if any civilians were killed they’d be included in the Pentagon’s monthly list. The Pentagon, of course, tends to ultimately count only about 10-15% of the deaths in their official lists.

The al-Shaafa area is believed to be one of the last strongholds of ISIS forces inside Syria, and that has made it a popular target for airstrikes by various anti-ISIS factions. So far, however, the strikes have appeared to kill mostly just random civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The murder of a country's children, via airstrikes, is an assassination against that country's future.

In its vicious and violent attempt to partition Syria, the American Government is completely unphased by its military commiting these war crimes; I do not blame the American military for this; it is their mission, and they can shake off civilian casualties by characterising them as "collateral damage."

It is simply another manifestation of the Trump administration's "OR ELSE!!" foreign policy, one to which I am afraid that the American people have become "comfortably numb", in order to avoid having to think about this, or discuss the moral rightness of these actions.

Trump's Budget Is a Bonanza for Hawks

The Trump administration released its budget for FY 2019 on Monday, and the reviews are in: military spending advocates are pleased and deficit hawks are dismayed. The top line steers $716 billion to various national security functions. The Pentagon will get $617 billion in its base budget, plus $69 billion to pay for the ongoing wars. Spending on nuclear weapons tucked away in the Department of Energy makes up most of the rest. Over the next five years, the Trump administration expects to spend $3.6 trillion on the nation’s military.

The Military’s ‘Readiness’ Scam Worked Again

The Donald Trump administration’s defense budget request for fiscal year 2019 is out, less than a week after Congress cut an overall deal on spending levels for 2018 and 2019. Unlike the domestic spending part of the administration’s budget request, the defense numbers aren’t dead on arrival — in fact, the military can count on getting every cent. The congressional deal set new levels for defense, agreeing to $700 billion for national defense in 2018 and $716 billion in 2019. That’s nearly $165 billion more than the military had anticipated prior to this year. The United States is back to defense spending, in constant dollars, that is higher than the peak spending levels under Ronald Reagan. Only in 2010, at the height of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, was defense spending higher.
The reason the Pentagon’s budget is now on a long-term upswing is because the military has spent years loudly lobbying for such an increase while complaining about an alleged “readiness crisis.” Complaining works,>>>

There is a government out there that may very soon acquire nuclear-weapons capabilities, and this country cannot be trusted to responsibly handle such a stockpile. The responsibility to protect the world from a rogue nation cannot be argued with, and we understandably have a duty to ensure the future of humanity.

However, there is one rogue nation that continues to hold the world ransom with its nuclear weapons supply. It is decimating non-compliant states left, right, and center. This country must be stopped dead in its tracks before anyone turns to the issue of North Korea.

McMaster Of War

A number of military experts – including the defense secretary, James Mattis – have warned that a U.S. war against North Korea would be hard, incredibly destructive and bloody, with civilian casualties in the millions, and could go badly for U.S. forces. But Lt. Gen. Herbert Raymond McMaster, President Trump’s national security adviser, is apparently insistent that ‘a military strike be considered as a serious option’.

One of Gen. McMaster’s claims to fame is a Silver Star he was awarded for a tank ‘battle’ he led in the desert during the so-called Gulf War of 1991. As a young captain leading a troop with nine new Abrams M1A1 battle tanks, McMaster destroyed 28 Iraqi tanks in 23 minutes without losing any of his own or suffering any casualties.

Trump said Obama's 'horrendous leadership' on Syria could start World War III. He's made things even worse.

Last year on the campaign trail, crowds roared when Donald Trump denounced his opponent as "trigger-happy" Hillary. But President Trump is rapidly incarnating the vice he condemned. Nowhere is this more evident than in Syria>>>

The United States plans to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on 14 May, the 70th anniversary of Israel's independence, a US official confirmed on Friday.

In December, US President Donald Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and signalled Washington's intention to relocate its embassy.

Is ‘Putin Regime’ The ‘Evil Empire’ Of Today?

One of Ronald Reagan’s greatest contributions to the overthrow of communism and the disintegration of the Soviet Union was his identification of the USSR as “the evil empire,” a term that outraged Moscow but inspired many within its borders and prompted those beyond its borders to talk about decolonization as something inevitable.

Now, Nikki Haley, the US permanent representative to the United States, has introduced a term that has outraged Russian officialdom every bit as much Reagan’s words did. She has referred the government in Moscow as “Putin’s regime,” a turn of phrase that lumps it together with those of Kim in North Korea and Asad in Syria.

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebemzya was outraged.>>>

A federal judge refused to dismiss a lawsuit brought against CACI Premier Technology for its alleged involvement in Iraqi torture at the Abu Ghraib prison.

“CACI personnel substantially aided the military personnel responsible for directly carrying out the abuses, including directing them on how to set the conditions of confinement, ordering them to employ various abusive tactics, and helping them conceal the abuses,” Judge Leonie Brinkema stated [PDF].

“Moreover, upper-level management at CACI substantially aided these continued abuses by refusing to inform the military of reports that CACI and military personnel were abusing detainees and by continuing to employ—and even promote—interrogators engaging in the abuses.”

Good on Judge Brinkema!!

Torture is counterproductive, in terms of creating actionable intelligence, and should be shunned by all civilized societies.

Although looking at the sorry state of the Unhinged Survielled States of America today, "civilized" would not be the first adjective I would use to describe it.

You would have thought armed conflict with Russia would be a bigger story

The relative lack of attention being paid to the news that U.S.-backed forces killed 200 to 300 Russian mercenary soldiers this month in Syria seems like a non-barking dog to me.

In many years, this might have been the most disruptive story, holding the headlines for weeks or maybe months. Circa February 2018, it didn’t command a single major news cycle.

What outsiders know about the event is still fragmentary, but it sounds pretty ominous. One Bloomberg account notes: “More than 200 contract soldiers, mostly Russians fighting on behalf of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, died in a failed attack on a base held by U.S. and mainly Kurdish forces in the oil-rich Deir Ezzor region.” It is described as the biggest clash between U.S. and Russian forces since the Cold War.>>>

The Trump Administration Wants a War America Cannot Win

Who knew that U.S. vice president Mike Pence would take a page out of activist athlete Colin Kaepernick’s playbook and refuse to stand for the host team’s entry at the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony on Feb. 8, 2018?

The games were being held in PyeongChang, Korea — and the team was composed of athletes representing what most people on the peninsula imagine to be their country, if only in their hopes and dreams — one nation, united North and South.
Now that the DPRK has entered the nine nation nuclear weapons club and mastered the missile technology necessary to deliver those weapons to the United States, what chance is there of such a final victory for the United States on the peninsula? Increasingly the most aggressive voices in the U.S. military policy establishment are pushing for a shift to offense against the DPRK, and since the election of Donald Trump, these voices are ascendant.

These voices are dangerous and wrong, and conscientious>>>

Failed British politician hired by leading Israel lobbyist

In between working for the weapons industry, Britain’s top pro-Israel advocate Stuart Polak is known to give charities a helping hand. Rivals can even benefit from his benevolent deeds, judging by one barely noticed addition to his entourage.

Although Polak has supported the Conservative Party for decades, he recently came to the “rescue” of a Labour Party politician who had been abandoned by voters.

Natascha Engel, the politician in question, lost her parliamentary seat in last year’s general election. Since then, she has been appointed to the advisory board of Polak’s consultancy firm TWC Associates.

The firm’s clients include Israel’s Elbit Systems, a manufacturer of drones and white phosphorus and other munitions which Israel has used while attacking Gaza.

War Crimes in America

The US military has killed, maimed and made homeless well over 20,000,000 people since the Vietnam War.

Let's bring the Vietnam War home...

Enough dead bodies to line up, head placed to feet, around the perimeter of Louisiana.[2]

Meanwhile all of New York City, and Chicago are refugeed.

Three Atlantas are filled with war orphans.

And 317 elementary schools are filled with children deformed from Agent Orange, unexploded cluster bombs, and landmines.

Our nation admits these are war crimes of the highest degree.[1]John Kerry, Secretary of State: "[the Vietnam War] was contrary to the laws of the Geneva Convention, and ordered as established policies from the top down." "The men who ordered this are war criminals."

DC shooter was ‘hearing voices’

Federal law enforcement authorities said Tuesday the gunman in the bloody mass murder at the Washington Navy Yard was a paranoid nutcase who had been hearing voices in his head.

Navy vet Aaron Alexis, 34, of Queens had been treated since August by the Veterans Administration for his mental problems, the officials told the Associated Press.

The Navy had not declared him mentally unfit, which would have rescinded a security clearance that Alexis had from his earlier time in the Naval Reserves.

MK-ULTRA Secret CIA Project MK-ULTRA on Mind Control

Dear friends,

Project MK-ULTRA was a top secret CIA program with the express mission to develop a variety of methods to control the human mind and behavior. Declassified documents prove that young women were hypnotized and trained to plant bombs, kill people, and much more, yet they showed no memory of having done this after completing successful training. They became effective "Manchurian Candidates" – spies and assassins who were not consciously aware of their actions committed in altered states.

Though Project MKULTRA was terminated in the late 1960s, numerous insiders have revealed that other even more sophisticated secret mind control programs continue to this day. Is there a deeper agenda behind all of this? Is it possible that factions of the world's power elite are secretly using MK-ULTRA tactics behind the scenes to manipulate global politics through the use of mind control? Read the excellent essay below and decide for yourself.

The US Wants the War in Syria to Continue

Last week Defense Secretary
James Mattis shot off a warning to Assad for alleged chemical attacks.
Washington had heard enough sob stories from partisan NGOs and anti-government forces that it reprimanded the Syrian government publicly.

On Wednesday, the United States followed through. After pro-regime forces assaulted the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the United States lead a counter strike, including airstrikes that reportedly killed over 100 people.

Americans are left to wonder why, now that ISIS is nearly eliminated and Assad is on his way to consolidating control, the United States persists is prolonging the conflict.>>>

For the next two years, at least, the American public should be spared the U.S. Defense Department’s wailing about “readiness.” After seven years of teeth-gnashing and garment-rending, the military is finally getting what it wants: more money than ever.

It’s worth thinking about why defense spending is about to explode. It’s not because of some revolutionary change in the global security environment>>>

400 dead Russians and Syrians, yet no one knows who ordered them to attack US forces in Syria

The United States is still unsure who directed a February 7 attack on US and US-backed forces in Syria, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Saturday, even as he acknowledged accounts that Russian civilian contractors were involved.
The US has estimated about 100 pro-Syrian government forces were killed by US strikes to repel the Febuary 7 attack.

Russian military officers told the United States during the incident that Moscow was not involved. The Pentagon has declined to comment on the exact makeup of the attacking forces and Mattis appeared at a loss to explain the incident 10 days later.

George W. Bush doesn't deserve the media's efforts at rehabilitation

“Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results,” former President George W. Bush declared in a presumably well-paid speech last week in the United Arab Emirates, a notorious Arab dictatorship. Bush is being exalted as if he is the second coming of George Washington thanks to his implied slams against the Trump administration. But Bush’s actions during his eight year reign did far more to ravage democracy at home and abroad than most people realize.

Thanks to gushing media coverage, Bush is enjoying one of the greatest comebacks in modern American history. In the summer of 2008, only 22 percent of Americans approved of Bush and 41 percent said he was the "worst president ever." Last month, a poll showed that 61 percent of Americans now approve of Bush, and his support among Democrats quintupled, from 11 percent in early 2009 to 54 percent now. If Americans want to understand current political challenges, they need to recall Bush’s forgotten debacles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A couple of weeks ago, I believe on Faux news, I was watching a very vaccuous interview of the Bush twins, Barbara and Jenna, who apparently have (ghost) written a book on what their years growing up in a highly political family were like, titled "Sisters First."

Were I the television interviewer (something which will never happen, so the Bush family can collectively breathe more easily), my first question would have been "How does it feel, being the daughters of a war criminal"?!?

The screen would have gone blank, with a banner reading "Technical Difficulties", and I would have been dragged off the set, and thrown out the door of the studio in complete ignominy.

But would it have been worth it?!? HELL, YES!! :-)

This country needs to never forget, that under the Bush era, this democratic republic moved from "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" to "The land of the surveilled and the home of the cowed."

Tillerson's Visit to Ankara Seen as Green Light to Turkey's Chemical Attack against Kurds

The attack was launched by the FSA militants who are backed by Ankara and at the end of Rex Tillerson's visit to Turkey, raising speculations that the attack was launched after a US green light.

Washington's silence on the attack that has reinvigorated speculations about its suspicious role in the incident comes as it has repeatedly accused the Syrian army forces of conducting chemical weapons against militants, a claim always rejected by Damascus.

Experts believe the US selective approach is yet another indicator of Washington's willingness to make an instrumental use of chemical warfare.

The Trump Peace Plan: As Gaza Dries Out, Israel Turns Off Fresh Water Spigot

Near the end of last month, Haaretz reported that, according to an expert hydrologist, 97 percent of Gaza’s drinking water has been contaminated by sewage and salt. The UN also confirmed that this was the case early last year, and clearly, the situation has remained unchanged even up until 2018. Robert Piper, the UN’s local coordinator for humanitarian and development activities, has called the situation “really very serious” and stated that “[w]e are falling far behind the demand for clean drinking water for Gazans.”

This kind of mistreatment is part and parcel of an overall package of deprivation that continues to plague the Palestinian people. There are some 2 million residents in Gaza affected by this egregious policy, famously one of the most densely populated areas on the planet. Gaza’s water resources are fully controlled by Israel and the division of groundwater is something that was provided for in the Oslo II Accord. However, despite the fact that under the Accord Israel is allocated four times the Palestinian portion of water resources

Great Place To Drop This Pro Trump/Fake NEWS Piece

(*originally left as a comment:)

ISIS is losing badly. Should Trump or Obama get the credit?

It is becoming increasingly clear that the Islamic State is on the ropes in Iraq and Syria, and its defeat is just a matter of time.

What is less clear is whose strategy produced the victory.
The president himself declared Thursday that more progress in the campaign to defeat Islamic State had been made in the last eight months than in "many, many previous years, all combined."

But former Defense Secretary Ash Carter, in a lengthy essay published by Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, argued the Trump administration is crowing about the results of what is essentially Obama's strategy>>>
But it is clear the military favored the Trump approach, as evidenced by the parting comments of Lt. Gen. Stephen Townsend as he prepared to relinquish command of the counter-ISIS operation in August.

"We don't get second-guessed a lot. Our judgment here on the battlefield in the forward areas is trusted. And we don't get 20 questions with every action that happens on the battlefield and every action that we take," Townsend said. "I don't know of a commander in our armed forces that doesn't appreciate that."

(*So , you see ? Fake NEWS doesn't just sprinkle The Democrats . And of course , Pat Buchanan is putting it out there that Trump is getting sucked into the Syrian thing , so I guess we get to chose the way it's going in Syria . The most optimistic is; Trump's policy has gotten us further into where we are in Syria today , then Obamas )
