Retired FBI agent guilty of sex abuse Was bureau's chief of internal affairs

The alleged bomber Mark Anthony Conditt makes remarks on social media in 2012 about how a sex offender should not have to register after he has done his time.
Is this person related to former FBI official John H. Conditt?

By Associated Press | February 18, 2004

WASHINGTON -- The former chief internal watchdog at the FBI has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl and has admitted he had a history of molesting other children before he joined the bureau for what became a two-decade career.

John H. Conditt Jr., 53, who retired in 2001, was sentenced last week in Tarrant County Court in Fort Worth to 12 years in prison after he admitted he molested the daughter of two FBI agents after he retired. He acknowledged molesting at least two other girls before he began his law enforcement career, his lawyer said.

Conditt sought treatment for sex offenders after his arrest last year, said his attorney, Toby Goldsmith.

Israel needs to kick out 450 elderly people to make room for new US embassy

Israeli authorities would need to relocate some 450 USSR immigrants, many of whom are in their 80s, from a plot of land to facilitate the construction of a new US embassy. And there is no solution in sight.

The plot in Jerusalem’s predominantly Jewish Arnona neighborhood is owned by the United States and currently accommodates an American consulate, which will soon be promoted to embassy status. This is scheduled to happen on May 14, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Israel’s declaration of independence, although red tape may force a postponement, according to local media.

Erdogan tells US to end ‘deception’ on Syria

TURKISH President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today told the US to stop "deceiving" Turkey and start cooperation after Washington said it was concerned by the Turkish-led offensive on the Syrian city of Afrin.

Erdogan's typically abrasive comments came after the US State Department reacted to the capture by Turkish forces of Afrin from Kurdish militia by sounding alarm over the fate of civilians and looting.

"If we are strategic partners, you must respect us and you must work with us," Erdogan told Turkey's NATO ally during a speech to ruling party lawmakers in parliament.

Pompeo and Haspel are Symptoms of a Deeper Problem

President Trump’s recent cabinet shakeup looks to be a real boost to hard-line militarism and neo-conservatism. If his nominees to head the State Department and CIA are confirmed, we may well have moved closer to war.

Before being chosen by Trump to head up the CIA, Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo was one of the most pro-war Members of Congress. He has been militantly hostile toward Iran, and many times has erroneously claimed that Iran is the world’s number one state sponsor of terror. The truth is, Iran neither attacks nor threatens the United States.

At a time when President Trump appears set to make history by meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong-un face-to-face, Pompeo remains dedicated to a “regime change” policy that leads to war, not diplomacy and peace. He blames Iran – rather than the 2003 US invasion – for the ongoing disaster in Iraq. He enthusiastically embraced the Bush policy of “enhanced interrogation,” which the rest of us call “torture.”

Reminder: Liberal hero Robert Mueller lied about Iraq’s non-existent WMDs

The 15th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq has evoked many inconvenient memories for America – including the fact that Russiagate heartthrob Robert Mueller lied about Iraq’s WMDs, paving the way for war.

Currently serving as the head of an “independent” investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, Mueller wasn’t always hailed by liberals as a brave crusader for democracy and truth. Actually, the liberal love affair with Mueller is a rather recent phenomenon.

Paul Craig Roberts: War Is On The Horizon

How else do we interpret the announcement by General Sergey Rudskoy, chief of the Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, that

“we have reliable information at our disposal that US instructors have trained a number of militant groups in the vicinity of the town of At-Tanf, to stage provocations involving chemical warfare agents in southern Syria. They are preparing a series of chemical munitions explosions. This fact will be used to blame the government forces. The components to produce chemical munitions have been already delivered to the southern de-escalation zone under the guise of humanitarian convoys of a number of NGOs.

The provocations will be used as a pretext by the United States and its allies to launch strikes on military and government infrastructure in Syria.”

Don’t expect to hear anything about this in the totally discredited Western presstitute media, which is a propaganda ministry for war.

China Is Days Away From Killing the Petrodollar

China is rapidly displacing the US as the dominant global power. This shift is inevitable. China’s economy will be twice as large as the US economy by 2030.

This leaves the US with limited options…

It could kick back and let China displace it as the most powerful country in the world.

It could start a military war with China.

And it could push the current trade battle into an all-out economic war against China.

I think a full-blown economic war is the most likely. Under President Trump, it’s all but certain.

California Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu predicted Monday there will be “widespread civil unrest” if President Donald Trump fires special counsel Robert Mueller.

“If the president does go ahead and fire Robert Mueller, we would have people take to the streets,” Lieu told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes. “I believe there would be widespread civil unrest because Americans believe the rule of law is paramount.”

Trump’s Last-Minute Play To Defund Sanctuary Cities

President Donald Trump is hosting a roundtable at the White House Tuesday for federal officials, members of Congress and state attorneys general to ramp up pressure on cities that don’t comply with federal immigration laws.

Conservatives in Congress, along with the president and administration officials, spent the entirety of last week lobbying leadership to stop funding sanctuary cities in the upcoming must-pass spending bill. Despite their efforts, Republican leadership is including funding for sanctuary cities in the bill, as The Daily Caller News Foundation previously exclusively reported, dealing a huge blow to both the administration and conservatives.

The president is looking to use Tuesday’s White House meeting to highlight the problems he has with funding these cities and pressure cities to conform with federal immigration laws.

Mr. Trump then seemingly tried to confirm the accusations with a Twitter fusillade hailing Mr. McCabe’s firing and escalating without cause to attack special counsel Robert Mueller. Which triggered another round of claims that Mr. Trump’s days in office are numbered, or should be.

Parkland Survivor To Trump: 'Show Us That You Aren't Owned By The NRA'

Two student survivors of last month’s deadly shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school are urging President Donald Trump to break his ties with the National Rifle Association and live up to his pledge to push for stricter U.S. gun laws.

In a Monday interview with CNN, David Hogg and Alfonso Calderon expressed disappointment over the White House’s new gun and school safety proposals, which include arming teachers to help prevent future on-campus shootings. But dropped from the plan was Trump’s call to raise the legal age for buying certain firearms ? including semi-automatic rifles ? from 18 to 21 years old.

Trump endorsed changing the age requirement last month during a bipartisan meeting with lawmakers at the White House in the wake of the Florida shooting in which the suspected gunman used a semi-automatic rifle. The NRA, however, quickly came out against the age proposal.

Assessing Russia's Military Strength

There is a popular point of view in some of Russia’s political circles, especially among those who profess monarchist views and cling to a famous meme of 1913 Tsarist Russia development statistics, that WW I was started by Germany to forestall Russia’s industrial development which would inevitably challenge Germany’s plans on domination of Europe. A somewhat similar argument could be made for the WW II, but, in general, preventive wars are nothing new in human history. While “preventive” argument may or may not be a valid one regarding WW I, there is no doubt that it could be used, among others, when explaining the origins of a war.

While European nations are still trying to placate the Trump Administration about the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran, US officials aren’t optimistic. Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) says he believes Trump will withdraw from the pact in May anyhow.

Corker told reporters that, barring any surprise moves by the Europeans, Trump will not extend the sanctions waiver beyond the May 12 deadline. This will effectively put he US in violation of the treaty, with Trump clear he intends to withdraw.

Whether the deal survives beyond that is anyone’s guess. Russia and China had both been courting Iran about keeping the deal going without the US. Recently, however, Iran has suggested that they don’t see the pact surviving a US withdrawal.

Report: Trump asked Saudi king $4bn for Syria goals

US President Donald Trump asked Saudi King Salman for $4 billion to spend on advancing Washington’s objectives in Syria, which Riyadh also shares, a report says.

US military newspaper Stars and Stripes carried the report on Friday, saying the demand was made by the US chief executive during a phone call with the Saudi monarch last December.

The money, it said, would be spent towards preventing the empowerment of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Syria’s allies, Iran and Russia. Washington would further the goal as far as bringing about “a political settlement of the war that ultimately includes the exit of both Assad and Iran,” it added.

It cited hawkish US Senator Lindsey Graham as reminding Gen. Joseph Votel, head of US Central Command earlier in the week of “the negative long-term impact that a win for Iran, Russia and Assad would have on US allies such as Israel and Jordan.”

President Trump’s Debt Increase Half that of Obama’s – US Debt Surpasses $21 Trillion

The US Debt surpassed $21 Trillion for the first time in history this week. What the MSM won’t tell you is that President Trump’s debt increase is half of Obama’s at the same time in their Presidencies.

President Trump took over in 2017 with nearly $20 trillion of debt and the related interest payments on the debt. He faced headwinds from the Federal Reserve (FED) which had increased interest rates by a full one percent since the 2016 election. In spite of this, President Donald Trump’s debt is half that of Obama’s.

The US Debt since President Trump was inaugurated on January 20th, 2016 through March 1, 2018, increased by slightly more than $1 trillion. On inauguration day the debt was at $19.9 trillion and on March 15, 2018 the debt stood at $21.0 trillion.

Although $1 trillion is a lot of money added to the debt, it is half of what President Obama added during the same time frame in his first year plus in office.

Nikki Haley Makes Good on Threat: No Aid For Voting Against Jerusalem

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley is making good on her threat to cut US aid to countries that vote against the US in the United Nations.

In December, 128 countries voted in the United Nations General Assembly against the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. At the time, President Trump and Haley threatened that there would be grave repercussions for recipients of US aid who failed to stand by their benefactor on such issues.

On Thursday, Foreign Policy reported on a 53-page memo issued by Haley. Titled “America First Foreign Assistance Policy”, the new policy will make good on that threat.

“It is the opinion of the U.S. mission to the U.N. that all U.S. foreign assistance should be reevaluated to ensure that taxpayers dollars are spent to advance U.S. interests, not to fund foreign legacy programs that provide little or no return on investment,” the memo read.

EU powers propose new Iran sanctions to keep Trump in nuclear deal

France, Germany and the UK have proposed new sanctions targeting Iran in an apparent attempt to keep the US within the 2015 nuclear agreement with Tehran. New restrictions would target Iran’s missile program and activity in Syria.

The sanctions would be particularly imposed against Iranian nationals involved in the development of the country’s ballistic missile progam, Reuters reported, citing a document it obtained.

"We will therefore be circulating in the coming days a list of persons and entities that we believe should be targeted in view of their publicly demonstrated roles," the document said, referring to the people involved in the Iranian missile program and support of the Syrian government, as reported by Reuters.

EU Powers Push Iran Sanctions to Placate Trump

With the deadline President Trump’s ultimatum to “fix” the Iran nuclear deal rapidly approaching, EU parties to the deal Britain, France, and Germany are proposing new sanctions against Iran. The move is seen as an attempt to keep Trump satisfied.

The new sanctions proposed are EU-wide sanctions that would target Iran for conducting missile tests, something President Trump has complained about. Getting the sanctions imposed would require unanimous EU approval.

The assumption among the EU nations is that the sanctions would show President Trump that there are alternative ways of going after Iran that don’t involve withdrawing from the P5+1 nuclear deal, and that this will convince Trump that such actions are continuing during the deal.

No One Mentions That The Russian Trail Leads To Democratic Lobbyists

Boris Johnson Accuses Putin of Murder, Kremlin 'Puzzled' (Video)

"Our quarrel is with Putin’s Kremlin and with his decision - and we think it overwhelmingly likely that it was his decision - to direct the use of a nerve agent on the streets of the U.K., on the streets of Europe, for the first time since World War II,”

Kremlin spokesman Peskov:
" ... Russia has nothing to do with this story" ... "any references to our president is nothing but shocking and unforgivable diplomatic misconduct."

He added that the Kremlin was "puzzled" by the behavior of British officials.

British Scientists Balked at Pressure to Link Nerve Gas to Russia

"It is very carefully worded propaganda. Of a type developed by liars."

I have now received confirmation from a well placed FCO (UK Foreign Ministry) source that Porton Down (Ministry of Defense science laboratory) scientists are not able to identify the nerve gas as being of Russian manufacture, and have been resentful of the pressure being placed on them to do so.

Porton Down would only sign up to the formulation “of a type developed by Russia” after a rather difficult meeting where this was agreed as a compromise formulation>>>

US and UK Trying to 'Iraq' Russia - What's Really Happening

Whether Theresa May comprehends the situation, whether she resolves the internal issues, whether she's the person who's being pushed towards this decision, to blow up this scandal, it's a whole different question. However, the fact that the UK and the US share the opinion that Russia basically posts a chemical weapon threat to practically the entire world is truly incredibly disturbing. Why? Because it's obvious they're trying to create a brand-new model for the demonization of Russia. They're trying to take the pressure on Russia to a whole new level, trying to convince the world that Russia is dangerous not just because of how they've "wronged Ukraine," or because they've "annexed Crimea," but because they threaten the world with chemical weapons.

Paris, Berlin, DC Rescue May From Having to Prove Her Accusations

Imagine an investigation for attempted homicide by gunshot without the gun, bullet, ballistics match, fingerprints, powder burns, witnesses, shooter, intention, motive. You can’t imagine? Neither could the French foreign minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian.

On Wednesday Le Drian announced France’s “full confidence in the investigations that our British partners are carrying out” on the March 4 nerve agent incident involving Sergei and Yulia Skripal and a local police detective in Salisbury.

The Neocon Full Court Press For War Is Here

The events of the past two weeks have been stunning. Since Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled new ‘doomsday’ weapon systems at his State of the Union address, the West has gone completely bonkers.

In the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, “I simply don’t have any normal terms left to describe all this,”

With the U.K. expelling Russian diplomats over the poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury last week, the push to isolate Russia and create conditions for a World War is here.

The questions are Who is behind this? And Why?

Theresa May’s response is a joke. This is a woman who can’t stand up to EU shakedown artists over the mildest of disagreements in Brexit talks but can grandstand to high heaven over an incident with no evidence of Russian action.

Trump To Fire McMaster As National Security Adviser, WaPo Reports But White House Denies

Bloomberg reports that an official has said that Trump has not decided on McMaster's removal. And now Sarah Sanders tweets that she spoke to the president and there are no changes at the NSC...

Confirming the "purge rumblings" reported earlier, moments ago the Washington Post reported that President Trump has decided to fire H.R. McMaster as his national security adviser, delivering the latest jolt to the senior ranks of his administration.

This latest termination from Trump's administration makes it 25 departures in Trump's first 419 days, or on average one every 17 days.

US Pacific Command ‘Fully Supports’ Arming India With F-35s

In welcome news for Lockheed Martin and its shareholders, a high-ranking US military official has said the US armed forces support selling the F-35 aircraft to India, a country that has not yet agreed to pay for the expensive jets.

While the extent of New Delhi's interest in acquiring Lockheed Martin's stealthy aircraft is not yet clear, the head of US Pacific Command (US PACOM) nonetheless supports the sale in theory, which is one of the more important preliminary steps for a deal actually happening.

"At the moment, India is considering a number of US systems for purchase, all of which US PACOM fully supports." The systems include F-16s, F/A-18s and MH-60 Seahawks, "and [the] F-35 Joint Strike Fighter," Admiral Harry Harris told the US House Armed Services Committee last month.

As Trump Moves Toward War, "The Resistance" Refuses To Resist

Tuesday’s post, It’s Impossible to Overstate How Terrible Mike Pompeo Is, laid out the view that Trump’s firing of Rex Tillerson represents a major shift toward war footing for the Trump administration, with Iran the specific target. This pivot was easily predictable, and I wrote numerous articles doing just that during 2017. Nevertheless, forecasting it and then seeing the disastrous pieces being moved into place are two different things.

Trump’s push to install Mike Pompeo as U.S. Secretary of State is a crystal clear indication that he’s begun the process of building his war cabinet. The next steps, likely to begin over the course of 2018, is to walk away from the Iran deal. I suspect relentless war propaganda to be unleashed simultaneously as the neocon/neoliberal/mass media war-monger alliance plays its well established role in selling the American public on another pointless and destructive war.

Report: McMaster Out, But White House Denies

National Security Adviser Gen. H.R. McMaster will depart the White House, following months of indications that President Donald Trump was seeking to replace him.

The Washington Post broke news of Trump’s decision Thursday night, citing five administration sources.

Strong evidence points to George W. Bush’s ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton as a leading candidate to replace McMaster. Bolton canceled his appearance on Breitbart News Daily Thursday morning, just hours before news broke of the decision to dismiss McMaster.

Sources with knowledge of the job search told Breitbart News that others in consideration include retired U.S. Army general and Trump National Security Council member Joseph “Keith” Kellogg and current White House Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert.

"I think you can see from the actions we've taken up until this point we're going to be tough on Russia until they decide to change their behavior," White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters. Her statement was in response to a question about whether Russian President Vladimir Putin was "playing" President Donald Trump.

Haley: World Must Punish Russia or They’ll Chemical Attack New York City Next

Most people may not draw an immediate connection between Salisbury and New York City. US Ambassador Nikki Haley sees a direct route from the one to the other as part of a Russian chemical weapons plot for which no real evidence exists.

Speaking at an “emergency” UN Security Council session, Haley demanded “immediate, concrete measures” against the Russians based on Britain blaming them for poisonings in Salisbury. She claimed they amount to a chemical weapons attack, and UN credibility is at stake if a permanent council member can do that.

Mueller subpoenas Trump Organization, requesting documents on Russia - report

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed the Trump Organization for documents, including some related to Russia, according to a new report.

It marks the first time that Mueller, who is investigating alleged collusion between Trump and Russia, has demanded documents directly related to President Donald Trump’s business. According to the NYT report, the subpoena was delivered in “recent weeks” and Mueller asked the organization to “hand over all documents related to Russia and other topics” that he is investigating.

Trump Suggests Withdrawing Troops From South Korea Over Trade Issues

President Trump’s Wednesday fundraiser in Missouri is raising eyebrows in the news, as he suggested to donors that he is considering withdrawing US troops from South Korea if he can’t get a better trade deal out of their government.

Trump didn’t go into tremendous details about whether this meant a full withdrawal or a drawdown, and a lot of analysts were very dismissive of the report, suggesting it was an empty threat and just a negotiating tactic.

White House Blames Russia For "Abhorrent" Attack, As Haley Warns Of Russian Chemical Weapons In New York

The fearmongering then quickly escalated, with Haley next telling the UN Security Council that aying next that "if we don't take immediate concrete measures to address this now, Salisbury will not be the last place we see chemical weapons used. They could be used here in New York, or in cities of any country that sits on this Council. This is a defining moment."

The specter of more Russian attacks - when there still isn't actual proof of the first one - was raised during an emergency council meeting, held at the request of British officials who have accused Russia of using “a military-grade nerve agent” to target a former military intelligence officer who committed treason. Russian diplomats have denied responsibility for the incident, but British investigators say they have identified the poison as a chemical weapon produced by the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

Christopher Steele As Seen By the New Yorker

The latest salvo in the Russiagate saga is a 15,000 word New Yorker article entitled “Christopher Steele the man behind the Trump dossier: how the ex-spy tried to warn the world about Trump’s ties to Russia” by veteran journalist Jane Mayer. The premise of the piece is clear from the tediously long title, namely that the Steele dossier, which implicated Donald Trump and his associates in a number of high crimes and misdemeanors, is basically accurate in exposing an existential threat posed to our nation by Russia. How does it come to that conclusion? By citing sources that it does not identify whose credibility is alleged to be unimpeachable as well as by including testimony from Steele friends and supporters.

Nation Trying to Figure out Gun Violence to Hold Military Parade Glorifying War

Every time a mass shooting rocks the United States, Americans demand their government do something. Whether it’s confiscating guns, arming teachers, or turning schools into prisons, neither politicians or the public can agree upon a solution to the ongoing violence, but they know their government should act.

With last month’s Valentine’s Day shooting in Parkland, Florida, most Americans are consumed with outrage targeted at guns, and conversely, those who want to ban guns. They have largely forgotten about the massive celebration of gun violence — and worse — that their president is planning one in the capital city for later this year.

Rand Paul to oppose Pompeo, Haspel

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said on Wednesday he would oppose President Trump's nominations of CIA Director Mike Pompeo to be secretary of State and CIA Deputy Director Gina Haspel to lead the spy agency.

Paul said that he will oppose the nominations and "do everything I can to block" them.

"My announcement today is that I will oppose both Pompeo's nomination and Haspel's nomination," Paul said.

Paul is the first Republican to come out against the two nominations, which were announced by Trump on Tuesday. Last year, he was the only Republican to vote against Pompeo for CIA director.

US imposes new sanctions on Russia over 2016 election meddling

The Treasury Department on Thursday slapped new sanctions on two dozen Russian entities and individuals for interfering in the 2016 election and conducting a series of damaging cyberattacks.

“The administration is confronting and countering malign Russian cyber activity, including their attempted interference in U.S. elections, destructive cyberattacks, and intrusions targeting critical infrastructure,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement. “These targeted sanctions are a part of a broader effort to address the ongoing nefarious attacks emanating from Russia.”

Mnuchin added that Treasury is planning to impose additional sanctions “to hold Russian government officials and oligarchs accountable for their destabilizing activities by severing their access to the U.S. financial system.”

BEX ALERT - ‘Looks like Russians were behind spy poisoning’ - Trump

Speaking in the Oval Office, US President Donald Trump has said it appears that Russia was behind the attack on former double agent Sergei Skripal.
Trump made the comments while speaking to the press during a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar. A member of the press corps asked the president if he thinks Russian President Vladimir Putin was behind the attack, prompting Trump to respond that “it looks like it.”

“I’ve spoken with the [British] prime minister and we are in deep discussions. It’s a very sad situation,” he continued. “It certainly looks like the Russians were behind it. Something that should never, ever happen and we’re taking it very seriously as, I think, are many others.”

Germany: CIA deputy Gina Haspel must face arrest on travelling to Europe

ECCHR’s legal intervention filed with the German Federal Public Prosecutor (Generalbundesanwalt – GBA) is aimed at securing an arrest warrant for CIA Deputy Director Gina Haspel. Haspel was appointed to the post by President Donald Trump in February 2017. The information submitted to the GBA by ECCHR on 6 June 2017 documents Haspel’s role in the torture of detainees in 2002 at a secret CIA prison in Thailand. In the dossier, ECCHR argues that Haspel oversaw the daily torture of detainees at the black site in 2002 and failed to do anything to stop it.

“Those who commit, order or allow torture should be brought before a court – this is especially true for senior officials from powerful nations,” said ECCHR’s General Secretary Wolfgang Kaleck. “The prosecutor must, under the principle of universal jurisdiction, open investigations, secure evidence and seek an arrest warrant. If the deputy director travels to Germany or Europe, she must be arrested.”

Commentary: Tillerson's kick out the door damages Iran deal, but not North Korea talks

As far as firings under President Donald Trump go, Rex Tillerson's is not the most humiliating. That dishonor would have to go to former chief of staff Reince Priebus. He learned he was fired through three Trump tweets and soon after was decoupled from the president's motorcade.

But Tillerson's departure is nonetheless a slap in the face to a former CEO who advised and quarreled with a man who used to play one on TV. As Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy Steve Goldstein said in a statement Tuesday, "The secretary did not speak to the president this morning and is unaware of the reason, but he is grateful for the opportunity to serve." Ouch.

Britain’s presumption of guilt towards Russia invites conflict and chaos

Britain’s abandonment of due process has taken a dangerous and reckless leap, with Theresa May declaring economic sanctions and diplomatic expulsions for Russia’s “failure” to respond to allegations over the Skripal poisoning.
Provocatively, Moscow was given a 24-hour deadline to “answer” charges leveled by the British government that it was responsible for the attempted murder of a Russian double agent, Sergei Skripal, who had been living in England since 2010 after a spy-swap deal.

Skripal (66) and his 33-year-old daughter Yulia were apparently stricken with a deadly nerve agent in his adopted hometown of Salisbury on March 4 while strolling through a public park. The pair have been receiving treatment in intensive care ever since.

BEX ALERT - France, Germany, US, UK say Salisbury incident a violation of UK’s territorial integrity by Russia

A joint statement by the UK, US, France and Germany says the poisoning of ex-double agent Sergei Skripal was a violation of Britain’s sovereignty by Russia and was the first offensive use of a chemical agent since World War II.

The incident, in which Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned in Salisbury on March 4, involved “a military-grade nerve agent, of a type developed by Russia,” said the statement issued on Thursday. The four countries said the incident constituted “the first offensive use of a nerve agent in Europe since the Second World War.”

White House backs UK decision to expel Russian diplomats over Skripal saga

“The United States shares the United Kingdom’s assessment that Russia is responsible for the reckless nerve agent attack on the British citizen and his daughter,” the statement, issued in the wake of the UN Security Council meeting called by the UK over the issue, reads.

The statement then proceeds to allege that there is a "pattern of behavior in which Russia disregards the international rules-based order, undermines the sovereignty and security of countries worldwide, and attempts to subvert and discredit Western democratic institutions and processes."

Further Signs of More War: A Most Dangerous Game

Donald Trump’s days of playing the passive/aggressive host of a reality-television game show are coming to an end. Either he fires all the apprentices who might slightly hesitate to wage a much larger world war and lets the bombs fly, or he will be replaced by one who will. Signs are that he has learned what his job entails and the world will suffer more death and destruction as a result.

Back in the days of the first Cold War – the late 1950s to early 1960s when our little world came close to extinction – my very large family appeared on many American television shows. Their names told the story of those times: “Who Do You Trust,” “To Tell the Truth,” “Charades,” “Play Your Hunch,” and “Beat the Clock,” to name a few. It was as if those silly game shows were unconsciously suggesting we probe a little deeper behind the headlines to discover what was really going on before the Doomsday Clock ran out.
