Iran Falling to US PSYOPS?

Paul Craig Roberts
June 22, 2009President Obama called on the Iranian government to allow protesters to control the streets in Tehran. Would Obama or any US president allow protesters to control the streets in Washington, D.C.?

We are now witnessing in Tehran US "attempts to foment a popular revolution" in the guise of another CIA-orchestrated "color revolution".

The brief moment of hope that housing had hit a bottom and that both the rate of home sales and prices would improve is slipping away. Unemployment crisis grips US states

Obama's economic advisers predicted in January that with passage of the economic stimulus package, the US unemployment rate this year would not exceed 8 percent in 2009. It has already hit 9.4 percent, rendering meaningless the stimulus package's modest promises of job creation. Most economists now believe that the US unemployment rate will top 10 percent by year’s end, and that it could rise to 11 percent at some point in 2011.

There is general agreement, moreover, that employment levels and conditions of labor will not return to those that prevailed prior to the financial crisis. This is no accident. The ruling elite, led by the Obama administration, has seized on the crisis as a long-awaited chance to restructure class relations to its advantage for decades to come.

Obama's (Latest) Surrender to Wall Street

In reaching across the aisle for Republican support – and no doubt future campaign contributions from the financial sector Pres. Obama is morphing into Joe Lieberman. There also is a touch of Boris Yeltsin in his sponsorship of a financial “reform” ominously similar to what advisor Larry Summers backed in Russia – relinquishing government power to a banking elite. The Financial Regulatory Reform proposal promotes Wall Street’s “product,” debt creation, at the expense of the economy at large, and lets financial chieftains continue to self-regulate the debt industry – and to keep scot-free all their gains from the past decade’s worth of fraudulent lending.

Don't blink, history is in the making again in Iran

You might think the year is 1979. The world watched in amazement — and some horror — as the Iranian Revolution began in earnest. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi left the country and a mysterious figure, the Ayatollah Khomeini, a stranger to most Westerners, returned to Tehran in a homecoming that attracted millions of Iranians. The average American didn’t place much interest in those events until November 1979, when 52 American were held hostage. The ordeal lasted 444 days and the saga virtually cut Iran off to any American influence.

What Actually Happened in the Iranian Presidential Election?

Since the June 12 Iranian presidential elections, Iran "experts” have mushroomed like bacteria in a Petri dish. So here is a quiz for all those instant experts. Which major country has elected more presidents than any in the world since 1980? Further, which nation is the only one that held ten presidential elections within thirty years of its revolution?

The answer to both questions, of course, is Iran. Since 1980, it has elected six presidents, while the U.S. is a close second with five, and France at three. In addition, the U.S. held four presidential elections within three decades of its revolution to Iran’s ten.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Even though the original article was a hoax with regard to Ban Ki Moon, the facts regarding Israel's membership in the United nations are accurate and true. Under General Assembly Resolution 273, Israel was admitted on the condition that it grant all Palestinians the right to return to their homes and receive compensation for lost or damaged property, according to General Assembly Resolution 194, paragraph 11.

Suffice to say, Israel has never lived up to these terms.

Israel's membership in the UN is therefore null and void.

The winds of American military rhetoric have shifted again. Last week, Gen David Petraeus repeatedly hammered home the idea that the US army had little do with the Pakistan military’s war against militants in the Frontier province and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

Although the US has delivered 100,000 rounds of ammunition and four cargo helicopters to Pakistan, allocated $700m dollars for the Pakistan Counterinsurgency Capability Fund (PCCF), and millions more in humanitarian aid, Gen Petraeus insists that the ongoing military operation is ‘a Pakistani operation’.

Obama Closes Doors on Openness

As a senator, Barack Obama denounced the Bush administration for holding "secret energy meetings" with oil executives at the White House. But last week public-interest groups were dismayed when his own administration rejected a Freedom of Information Act request for Secret Service logs showing the identities of coal executives who had visited the White House to discuss Obama's "clean coal" policies. One reason: the disclosure of such records might impinge on privileged "presidential communications." The refusal, approved by White House counsel Greg Craig's office, is the latest in a series of cases in which Obama officials have opted against public disclosure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is no practical "change" from the Bush era to the Obama era; the agenda is absolutely the same, with more wars, an ever more muscular foreign policy, and more financial hardship on We the People.

What we have here is an infinitely more telegenic, charismatic and apparently intelligent pitchman, selling us precisely the same agenda as did the Bush administration: Obama just looks better doing it.

FTC to monitor blogs for 'false claims,' payola

What some fail to realize, though, is that such reviews can be tainted: Many bloggers have accepted perks such as free laptops, trips to Europe, $500 gift cards or even thousands of dollars for a 200-word post. Bloggers vary in how they disclose such freebies, if they do so at all.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As the blogs become the new mainstream media, mainstream-style corruptions are starting to sneak in, and the issue of payola has become a major problem. For the record, WRH does not accept gifts from advertisers.

There is another problem with the blogs still unaddressed by the FTC and that is the practice for public relations companies to create hundreds of fake identities on popular review blogs and use them to skew the online opinions. A typical example is for popular movie review blogs to get "front loaded" with fake positive reviews for a movie as a form of covert advertising.

Saturday saw some of the worst violence since the election after, according to officilas, some 'terrorist elements' infiltrated the rallies.

The rallies, which have been staged in defiance of a governmental warning, have provoked unprecedented mayhem in the country's capital over the past nine days.

Supreme Court ends Plame case against Cheney, Libby

Outed CIA agent Valerie Plame will not get her day in court.

Valerie Plame first became a household name when her identity was disclosed by conservative columnist Robert Novak on July 14, 2003. The column came only a week after her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, had written an op-ed for the New York Times asserting that White House officials twisted pre-war intelligence on Iraq. Her outing was seen as political retaliation for Wilson’s criticism of the Administration’s claim that Iraq sought uranium from Niger for a nuclear weapons program.

In February of 2006, RAW STORY’s Larisa Alexandrovna broke the news that “the unmasking of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson by White House officials in 2003 caused significant damage to U.S. national security and its ability to counter nuclear proliferation abroad.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Cheney and Libby never cared about the consequences of what they did to Plame, and the organization she worked for; they just wanted revenge against Wilson for having told the truth about Iraq, and this was how they got it.

This is a travesty; Plame should have had her day in court. The absolute, undeniable harm this action did to this country's intelligence will have repercussions for years to come.

Confidential memo reveals US plan to provoke an invasion of Iraq

Jamie Doward, Gaby Hinsliff and Mark Townsend
The Observer, Sunday 21 June 2009

A confidential record of a meeting between President Bush and Tony Blair before the invasion of Iraq, outlining their intention to go to war without a second United Nations resolution, will be an explosive issue for the official inquiry into the UK's role in toppling Saddam Hussein.

The memo, written on 31 January 2003, almost two months before the invasion and seen by the Observer, confirms that as the two men became increasingly aware UN inspectors would fail to find weapons of mass destruction (WMD) they had to contemplate alternative scenarios that might trigger a second resolution legitimising military action.

Color Revolution in Iran?

Posted: June 21st, 2009 | Author: johan | Filed under: Originals, World News |

We all know that the CIA has been involved in several coup d’etats ever since President Harry S. Truman spawned this creature. Hell, they’ve even done it once before in Iran, in 1953. And I think we also know that Iran has been in the crosshair’s of the neocons, neoliberals and other policy makers for quite a while. Even the RAND Corporation has been lobbying for another world war to “save the U.S. economy”.

And that, I think is reason enough to concider the possibility that the spooks might have their dirty little hands in this one as well. It is of course their modus operandi.

What Bush Told Blair Could End the Wars

In May 2005 we launched AfterDowningStreet.org to publicize the Downing Street Minutes. By June we'd had great, if fleeting, success. During the following months and years, mountains of new memos and statements emerged on the Iraq War lies, many of them more damaging than the Downing Street documents. But increasingly nobody cared, because evidence of crimes was less interesting once Congress had dropped the pretense that it might take action. The single most powerful, and yet largely ignored, document yet to emerge, might, now in 2009, finally, produce results. And, of course, it is our friends over in England who are, as always, two steps ahead of us.

Jun 21 22:33

For the right-wing Western media it is really unimportant who won the election in Iran; the important thing is that the resulting turmoil, chaos, and deaths works against the ruling Mullah’s and in favour, no matter how little, of the right-wing of Israel and the US and their supporters in Iran. Greg Sheridan, a Murdoch propagandist with The Australian newspaper, sums it up: “In many ways, a savagely weakened Iranian regime is the best result Israel and the US could have wished for.” Democracy per se, as far as the right-wing are concerned, actually has very little to do with it as long as it’s a good ‘result for Israel and the US’.

A Colonizing Project Built On Lies

The chief moral asset of the Zionists in their makeover of Israel was the Holocaust. This had created a vast fund of sympathy born of guilt. The Zionists conserved this sympathy capital through endless commemoration - in movies, media and museums. Better yet they augmented the Holocaust capital by arguing that Jews had suffered horrors that were unique in history. Never before had a people been targeted for total extermination; never before had they faced death through incineration. Fortified with the shield of Holocaust capital and the sword of uniqueness, the Zionists have argued that their actions should be exempt from the moral scrutiny of concerned world citizens. They should be given a free pass.

Dishonest Money

It’s important to remember, we’re in this mess not just because of the “unscrupulous but highly intelligent” individuals who conspired to gain control of our nation’s money supply, but also because of our elected officials who handed it over and continue to support (and benefit from) the arrangement.

The name Hedy Epstein is a household word among those of us involved in the Palestinian cause. She is a Jewish woman, a holocaust survivor, yet despite her age being 84 she has tirelessly lived the mantra of ‘Never Again’….. TO ANYONE!

Suppressed report raises questions about drug policy

The report notes, for instance, that health problems from "the use of legal substances, particularly alcohol and tobacco, are greater than health problems from cocaine use."

If that weren't enough, it states that "few experts describe cocaine as invariably harmful to health," and that problems "are mainly limited to high-dosage users." Indeed, "occasional cocaine use does not typically lead to severe or even minor physical or social problems . . . a minority of people start using cocaine or related products, use casually for a short or long period, and suffer little or no negative consequences, even after years of use."

Down the Cosmic Toilet into the Fires of Hell.

I go away for twenty four hours to a solstice celebration with actual humans who can cook and make music… eat and dance the night away around an enormous bonfire to celebrate the point of the fact that there are people who can do these kinds of things and have the capacity to honor, love and regard each other as equals in the freedom of their spirit and I return to a computer monitor that shows me the work of some collection of tireless liars, frothing at the mouth for the blood of others; making shit up as they go along, doing shit and then blaming it on the people they want to invade; conquer, rob, rape and… I stand in awe of the capacity of the world to put up with and believe in it.

They say that history repeats, and therein lies a motive for the US Government to want a new war. after all, the US Government got out of the depression that resulted from the crash of 1904 by getting into WWI. The US Government got out of the depression that resulted from the crash of 1929 by getting into WWII. Now we are seeing the aftermath of the crash of 2008. If you see an obvious pattern here, rest assured, so does the US Government, which has a long history of using wars to correct, or at least to distract the people from , economic turmoil. From the point of view of Washington DC, it is far better that the taxpayers believe Iran and North Korea are the threat to our way of life, rather than Wall Street and of course, Washington DC itself.

Spaceport construction begins in New Mexico

Workers in New Mexico have broken ground in the construction of a terminal and hanger facility for the world’s first rocket spaceport for sending wealthy customers to the edge of space.

Members of the general are being tempted with the ‘most incredible experience of their lives’ for $200,000 from as early as 2010. Called Spaceport America, the $200 million taxpayer-funded project will launch spacecraft off the 10,000-foot runway attached to an airplane.

The spacecraft will then break free and rocket 62 miles into space for a total of two hours including five minutes of weightlessness before coming back down to Earth.

I now realize my father was a hero

I have vivid memories of a chili supper they had one night when I was three or four. I remember our car climbing up into the mountainous part of our county and being so scared of the curves and the bluffs. I remember running around screaming with a crowd of miners' kids and feeling that joy that never comes again in adulthood. (When grown-ups run around in circles screaming, it is never good. Part of me just doesn't understand why that is.)

US Treasuries = Sub-Prime Debt

Since this recession has been compared to the Great Depression of the 1930s, let's see what happened to the stock markets then. The Dow Jones peaked in Sept 1929 and then fell 48% by November.

It then rose 50% in a bear market rally off that November bottom. The rally lasted till April 1930.

The rally generated expectations that the worst was over. President Herbert Hoover told a group that had come to ask for a stimulative public works program in June 1930, "Gentlemen you have come sixty days too late. The Depression is over."

He was wrong. By June 1932, the Dow Jones had lost 89% of its value from the 1929 peak and the Depression lasted until 1939 when World War II began.

Hypocrisy towards Iran

The U.S. has laid economic siege to Iran for 30 years. Recently, Congress voted $120 million for anti-regime media broadcasts into Iran and $60-75 million in funding for opposition, violent underground Marxists and restive ethnic groups such as Azeris, Kurds and Arabs under the "Iran Democracy Program." Pakistani intelligence sources put the CIA's recent spending on "black operations" to subvert Iran's government at $400 million.

While the majority of protests we see in Tehran are genuine and spontaneous, western intelligence agencies are playing a key role in sustaining them and providing communications, including the newest method, via Twitter.

The panopticon economy

America’s top spy agency has taken over the former Sony microchip plant and is transforming it into a new data-mining headquarters — oddly positioned directly across the street from a 24-hour Walmart — where billions of electronic communications will be sifted in the agency’s mission to identify terrorist threats.

The American hand in Iran

Dipping two fingers in red paint, Corsi waved a peace sign in solidarity "with the blood of oppressed Iranians" and called on "the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King". He declared, "I love the Iranian people. America does not hate the Persian people. We love the Persian people. We want peace and we love the Persian people." Corsi's voice then dropped to a whisper; "We stand here today and we pray in the name of the gods. I embrace Jesus Christ as my savior - and we also pray in the name of Allah, Zoroaster and the B'hai."

Proposed Law Allows AG Holder to Block Gun Sales to Over a Million Americans

New Jersey Democrat senator Frank R. Lautenberg plans to introduce legislation designed to cancel the Second Amend rights of well over a million U.S. citizens this coming week, according to the New York Times. “Mr. Lautenberg plans to introduce legislation on Monday that would give the attorney general the discretion to block gun sales to people on terror watch lists,” the newspaper reports.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And yet we know the majority of people on the terror watch list are there by mistake, and with the ever-looser definition of "terror" (public protesters, for one example) almost anyone can wind up on that list without having done anything illegal.

After Deadly Attacks, No Finding of Blame

A military investigation into American air strikes in western Afghanistan on May 4 that killed dozens of Afghan civilians calls for additional training of United States air crews and ground forces. But the inquiry does not hold any military personnel culpable for failing to follow strict rules devised to avoid civilian casualties.

Analysis of Iran's presidential elections

Iran’s presidential elections held on June 12 in which the incumbent, President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, retained his post with a wide margin over his nearest rival Mir Hussain Mousavi has provided the Muslim-hating West another opportunity to spout its anti-Islamic venom. Through its corporate-controlled media mouthpieces, they had already declared Mousavi the winner even before the people of Iran had had an opportunity to cast their vote. When the result turned out to be contrary to their perceived wisdom, it was immediately denounced as “rigged”. It seems even Mousavi had fallen for this propaganda because as soon as the polls closed, he told a press conference in Tehran that he had “won”. How he could make such a claim when no results had come in?
