Government Swine Flu Advisor On Vaccine Maker Payroll

Many people seem genuinely baffled that western governments are hyping the arrival of a swine flu pandemic as if it’s the greatest threat to humanity since the bubonic plague, despite the relatively low number of deaths from the virus, unaware that the pharmaceutical industry has been intimately joined at the hip with the state for decades.

Another illustration of that fact is the revelation that one of the UK government’s top advisors on swine flu also happens to be a sitting board member of GlaxoSmithKline, the company selling dangerous and untested swine flu vaccines, as well as anti-viral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza, to the NHS.

Credit card crisis to grip Britain, IMF warns

Britain’s credit card debt crisis will get significantly worse in the coming months with a wave of consumer payment defaults, the International Monetary Fund has warned.

The organisation expects £1.5bn of consumer debt across Europe will not be repaid, much of it in Britain which has the highest number of credit card borrowers on the continent.

Analysts say failure to pay credit card bills is likely to increase as unemployment rises and the number of personal insolvencies, which reached 29,774 in the first quarter of the year, continues to rise.

The 545 People Responsible For All Of U.S. Woes

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 235 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

Saving the Bankers With a Make-Believe War

Pakistanis and Americans have a common problem, which is also shared by every other country on the planet–corruption in high places. The world is made to fret over the impending loss of the entire capitalist system by the overlords of the Western media, even though, the only loss for the common man will be the chains that bind him. We are all supposed to be grieving deeply for the collapse of the money system which has made so many people rich, people whom the media tells us we all want to be just like.

Bernanke: "I Had To Hold My Nose" Over Bailouts

07/26/09 10:34 PM

WASHINGTON — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Sunday that he had to "hold my nose" over last year's taxpayer-financed bailouts of big financial companies but argued that the action had to be taken to avoid a major meltdown of the U.S. financial system and the broader economy.

Bernanke's comments came during a town-hall style meeting in Kansas City, Mo., where he was peppered with several questions about government decisions last year to rescue so-called "too big to fail companies" like insurance giant American International Group, whose collapse would have wreaked havoc on the global economy.

Bill Gates quits Facebook over 'too many friends'

Sat Jul 25, 10:02 am ET
NEW DELHI (AFP) – Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said he was forced to give up on the social networking phenomenon Facebook after too many people wanted to be his friend.

Gates, the billionaire computer geek-turned-philanthropist who was honoured Saturday by India for his charity work, told an audience in New Delhi he had tried out Facebook but ended up with "10,000 people wanting to be my friends".

Gates, who remains Microsoft chairman, said he had trouble figuring out whether he "knew this person, did I not know this person".

"It was just way too much trouble so I gave it up," Gates told the business forum.

Suicide: Kuwaiti Charged With Fraud In The US Kills Hiimself

KUWAIT CITY — A Kuwaiti businessman linked to Citigroup and charged in the United States with fraud committed suicide Sunday, a security official said.

Hazem al-Braikan was found dead in his bed with a gunshot wound to the head and a handgun at his side, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he did not have the full details.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charged al-Braikan last week with scheming to make millions by manipulating the stock of certain U.S. companies. The SEC said it was freezing more than $5 million in profits believed to have been made off the questionable deals by al-Braikan and three companies with whom he is associated.

Amazon Faces a Fight Over Its E-Books
By BRAD STONE
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/27/technology/companies/27amazon.html?p...

SAN FRANCISCO — Last week, Jeffrey P. Bezos, chief executive of Amazon, offered an apparently heartfelt and anguished mea culpa to customers whose digital editions of George Orwell’s “1984” were remotely deleted from their Kindle reading devices.

Though copies of the books were sold by a bookseller that did not have legal rights to the novel, Mr. Bezos wrote on a company forum that Amazon’s “ ‘solution’ to the problem was stupid, thoughtless and painfully out of line with our principles.”

An apology was not enough for many people.

Herbal remedy really does cure a cold

Fans of echinacea have long sworn that it can ward off the common cold, a claim that has been dismissed this as a matter of faith. Now scientists say that the herbal remedy really works, giving believers the pleasure of watching the cynics swallow their words. An analysis of the evidence has found that taking the remedy more than halves a person’s chances of catching a cold and shortens the length of a cold by an average of 1.4 days.

Garlic 'prevents common cold'

People who take a garlic supplement each day are far less likely to fall victim to the common cold than those who do not, research suggests.

Although garlic has been traditionally used to fight off and treat the symptoms of the common cold, this is the first hard evidence of its medicinal properties.

However, more research will be needed to corroborate the data.

The study found that a daily garlic supplement containing allicin, a purified component of garlic considered to be the major biologically active agent produced by the plant, reduced the risk of catching a cold by more than half.

The Toughest Decision: Should my loved one be placed in an Assisted Computing Facility?

The Path Forward for Honduras

by Roberto Micheletti

In recent days, the rhetoric from allies of former President Manuel Zelaya has also dominated media reporting in the U.S. The worst distortion is the repetition of the false statement that Mr. Zelaya was removed from office by the military and for being a “reformer.” The truth is that he was removed by a democratically elected civilian government because the independent judicial and legislative branches of our government found that he had violated our laws and constitution.

Fast-tracked swine flu vaccine will be safe, officials insist

To ensure the vaccine is available as soon as possible, the EMA is allowing companies to bypass large-scale human trials. Amid concerns about bird flu several years ago, the EMA designed a protocol to fast-track the approval of a vaccine. It let companies submit data for a "mock-up" vaccine, using H5N1 avian flu. The idea was to do most of the testing before a pandemic, so that when it hit, the drug companies could insert the pandemic virus into the vaccine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To all English-speaking people in the UK and Europe who read this site:

As reported at:

http://blogs.mercola.com/sites/vitalvotes/archive/2009/07/17/Squalene-...

"Flu vaccines can also contain a number of chemical toxins, including ethylene glycol (antifreeze), formaldehyde, phenol (carbolic acid) and even antibiotics like Neomycin and streptomycin.

"In addition to the viruses and other additives, many vaccines also contain immune adjuvants like aluminum and squalene."

"In addition to the viruses and other additives, many vaccines also contain immune adjuvants like aluminum and squalene."

"The adjuvant? Squalene."

"Your immune system recognizes squalene as an oil molecule native to your body. It is found throughout your nervous system and brain. In fact, you can consume squalene in olive oil and not only will your immune system recognize it, you will also reap the benefits of its antioxidant properties."

"The difference between “good” and “bad” squalene is the route by which it enters your body. Injection is an abnormal route of entry which incites your immune system to attack all the squalene in your body, not just the vaccine adjuvant."

"Gulf War veterans with Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) received anthrax vaccines which contained squalene.[ix] MF59 (the Novartis squalene adjuvant) was an unapproved ingredient in experimental anthrax vaccines and has since been linked to the devastating autoimmune diseases suffered by countless Gulf War vets.[x"

Please share this with everyone you know, particularly people with kids, to give them some information that everyone should have before deciding of they (or their kids) should get this vaccine.

CIA’s ‘ghost flights’ to be made public in UK trial

Lawyers for Binyam Mohamed, who spent some seven years in US custody, five of them at Guantanamo, say that Jeppesen UK, a subsidiary of Boeing, has agreed to the presentation of evidence about the “ghost flights” it allegedly operated for the CIA — off-the-grid private jets that transferred terrorist suspects to sites where they would be tortured.

According to an article in the UK’s Guardian, Jeppesen’s decision not to block details of its alleged role in extraordinary rendition has “wide-ranging legal implications that could help expose which countries and governments knew the CIA was using their air bases to spirit terrorist suspects around the world.”

A majority of people don't consider the stupidity of having a standing army occupying our cities, towns, and countryside until one of their friends is the target of a power-crazed abuser. This may be changing. More people are beginning to awaken to the fact that the policeman is NOT your friend. Ever. The evidence is overwhelming and shocking. Inside the swine flu hotline call-centre: Tasteless 'David Brent' jokes and a terrified 16-year-old recruit

During a training session, instructor Ben Kirby – whose manner was akin to television character David Brent – joked that the rapid spread of swine flu would help boost the profits of Teleperformance, the firm contracted by the Government to run the hotline.

Our investigators also found:

  • Among those selected to field enquiries was a 16-year-old school leaver who confessed she was so terrified she told a caller to dial 999.
  • Teleperformance will earn money from each call it handles under a hastily-struck deal with the NHS – prompting Mr Kirby to state: ‘There’s an endless budget...on this campaign.’
  • Mr Kirby joked about sending a victim to run around the streets of Bristol to spread flu.

Hillary Clinton: Iran pursuit of nukes 'futile'

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that Iran will never achieve its goal of obtaining a nuclear weapon, declaring to Tehran: "Your pursuit is futile."

"What we want to do is to send a message to whoever is making these decisions, that if you're pursuing nuclear weapons for the purpose of intimidating, of projecting your power, we're not going to let that happen," Clinton said.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to SECSTATE HRC: my dear lady, the "big lie" technique is not working on the American people anymore, no matter how desperately you feel the compulsive need to publicly prove your undying fealty to Israel.

FACT: As a signatory to the NPT, Iran is perfectly within its right to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes, i.e., build a power plant.

FACT: The IAEA, which has been inspecting this plant, has declared that there have been no missing or unaccounted for nuclear materials which might be used to create a nuclear bomb.

FACT: The level of uranium enrichment necessary for creating a weapon is infinitely stronger than that necessary for creating a power plant, and the IAEA has found absolutely no evidence of that either.

FACT: Israel, which does have nuclear weapons, refuses to sign the NPT, which would mandate inspection of their nuclear facilities.

FINAL FACT: Secretary Clinton, you must be, in light of your position in this administration, aware of the reality that senior Russian officials have warned that a military attack against Iran will trigger WWIII.

If you are insane enough to believe that somehow, a war between Russia and the US would be a really good thing for this country, you need to be immediately relieved of your responsibilities as Secretary of State, and receive a psychiatric evaluation.

It was then that we started doing our work.”

    Mass Layoffs: The Continuing Devastation

Stock market investors shrug off a disaster in our midst: mass layoffs. Investors act as though it will soon be business as usual. Companies cut costs by firing employees that have been with them for decades. Then the companies can report higher earnings from cost-cutting measures. The media then proclaim an increase in earnings. But how will these increases be sustained? How will an unemployment rate of 11% help get the economy back on its feet?

    Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder what direction the anger these laid-off people feel will take?

CIA 'put pressure on Britain to cover up its use of torture'

The CIA has been secretly pressuring the British Government to help it cover up its use of torture, documents filed in the High Court have revealed.

The documents, to be discussed at a hearing this week, suggest that the UK authorities did everything they could to accede to the CIA's wishes while at the same time trying to conceal the fact they were talking to the agency.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

No surprise here; the CIA is attempting to cover its nether regions on this one.

Unfortunately, however, the embrace and the institution of the use of torture has created two major consequences for this country.

First, for all practical intents and purposes, it has effectively removed the US from any human rights accords to which it has ever been a signatory.

Secondly, because torture became (and continues to be) US policy, any US military or civilian personnel who gets captured can expect no better treatment than the US meted out at Abu Ghraib.

The US Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, has just signed a decree granting vaccine makers total legal immunity from any lawsuits that result from any new “Swine Flu” vaccine. Moreover, the $7 billion US Government fast-track program to rush vaccines onto the market in time for the Autumn flu season is being done without even normal safety testing. Is there another agenda at work in the official WHO hysteria campaign to declare so-called H1N1 virus—which has yet to be rigorously scientifically isolated, characterized and photographed with an electron microscope—the scientifically accepted procedure—a global “pandemic” threat?

Poisonous gas from African lake poses threat to millions

It is estimated that the lake, which straddles the borders of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, now contains 300 cubic kilometres of carbon dioxide and 60 cubic kilometres of methane that have bubbled into the Kivu from volcanic vents. The gases are trapped in layers 80 metres below the lake's surface by the intense water pressures there. However, researchers have warned that geological or volcanic events could disturb these waters and release the gases.

Dennis Blair: Iran Has Not Re-Started Its Nuclear Weapons Program

Earlier this month, Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen made headlines when he was asked by CNN whether Iran had enough enriched uranium for a nuclear bomb. “We think they do, quite frankly,” Mullen said. This morning, Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) asked Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair to address the “confusion” about what the intelligence says about Iran’s weapons capacity. Blair said the intelligence community has assessed that Iran does not possess any highly-enriched uranium, and clarified that Mullen had been referring only to low-enriched uranium.

Moreover, Blair said that the 2007 National Intelligence Estimate, which judged that “in the fall of 2003 Tehran halted its nuclear weapons program,” still stands

Gates, in Visit to Israel, Will Find Iran Looming

The official, who was briefing reporters in advance of Mr. Gates’s trip, acknowledged that the Israelis did not think the diplomacy would work and that they were losing patience. “Are they anxious?” the official said. “Yes, they’re anxious. But we’re not having regular conversations where they’re coming in and saying, ‘Stop your engagement now, bomb Iran tomorrow.’ ”

    Webmaster's Commentary:

This is one of the many articles we're seeing lately, the intention of which is to "groom" the American public for an Israeli-led/ US supported attack on Iran.

However, there is one minor problem with the "bomb bomb bomb...bomb bomb Iran" scenario.

It is the the 6,000 lb gorilla, sitting on the Steinway, and one which should be acknowledged by any thinking adults (if there are any) in the halls of power in Tel Aviv and Washington.

That 6,000 lb gorilla is Russia. Russian leadership has already stated very flatly that there are no inducements the US can offer it to turn a blind eye against an attack against Iran. Russian leadership has already stated unequivocally that an attack against Iran will lead to WWIII.

Does the US really want to go to war with Russia to "neutralize" Iran for Israel?

    I'd like to hope not.

But there are some in the halls of power who believe that only another massive military confrontation can possibly deflect the anger of Americans against this government for having bungled the economy so spectacularly, and also jump-start the economy.

Distrust of government blunting Obama's pursuit of new programs

If President Barack Obama got anything indisputably right at his news conference last week, it was this: The American people don't trust the federal government.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

And why should the American people trust the government?!?

The only thing for which they can trust the federal government, at this point, is that the federal government will lie to the American people to achieve any objective the government believes is in its own best interest, whether or not it is actually in the interests of the American people.

In fact, for most think Americans, one of the most terrifying statements to hear is, "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you!!"

    New Biden Criticism Surprises Russia

Just weeks after a summit meeting intended to show a thawing in relations between the United States and Russia, Vice President Joseph R. 2. Law enforcement in Brazil and South Africa acted

US: Parade of officials to caution Israel

The Obama administration is dispatching four of its most senior foreign policy and security figures to Israel this coming week with the same message on two open questions causing friction between the close allies: Don't do it.

Taking a firmer line with Israel than the Bush administration, President Barack Obama is urging Israel to stop all settlement construction in the West Bank or risk closing off the most promising avenues for peace negotiations.

Washington also wants Israel to shelve any plan for a military strike to sabotage Iran's nuclear facilities, arguing that Obama's offer of engagement and talks with Iran deserves time to bear fruit.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to President Obama: sir, Netanyahu's government keeps spitting in your face and telling you it's raining on the settlement issue.

And you just told the world right out loud on Friday, that you will not use the one bargaining chip this Israeli administration would understand, and that would be the immediate cessation of all US military and financial aid.

Israel's response regarding settlements, coupled with that statement on Friday, has made you look catastrophically impotent to Palestinians and Arabs of all stripes because this telegraphs to them that you have completely lost your integrity as a potential honest broker for peace.

And as to Iran, watch for Israel to most probably stage some kind of a "false flag" to get that going well and truly before the end of the year.

They will expect American taxpayers to fund this, and for American kids to fight, die, and get maimed in the process of "neutralizing" yet another one of their existential enemies in the region (and that seems to include all of their neighbors!)

The Israelis are experts at this. As any of your staff to google the "USS LIBERTY", and you will see, very clearly, what I mean.

Tax on 'gold-plated' health care plans gains ground

White House officials are embracing a plan to tax "gold-plated, Cadillac" insurance policies, giving momentum to an idea that is receiving bipartisan consideration on Capitol Hill.

Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said Friday on Bloomberg TV that he is "taking an intense look at it."

    Webmaster's Commentary:

    Oh, REALLY?!?!?

Then let's start with taxing the health care benefits of all congressional representatives!!

    As reported in:

    http://public-healthcare-issues.suite101.com/article.cfm/health_care_f...

"As soon as members of Congress are sworn in, they may participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). The program offers an assortment of health plans from which to choose, including fee-for-service, point-of-service, and health maintenance organizations (HMOs). In addition, Congress members can also insure their spouses and their dependents.

Not only does Congress get to choose from a wide range of plans, but there’s no waiting period. Unlike many Americans who must struggle against precondition clauses or are even denied coverage because of those preconditions, Senators and Representatives are covered no matter what - effective immediately.

And here’s the best part. The government pays up to 75 percent of the premium. That government, of course, is funded by taxpayers, the same taxpayers who often cannot afford health care themselves."

And please understand; even if a senator or congressional representative has served for only one term, these benefits stand FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.

“It was straight luck that we didn’t have a lot more guys hit,” said Sgt. Brandon Tritle, another squad leader in Company C, who cited the Taliban’s skill at laying down a base of fire to mount an attack.

“One force will put enough fire down so you have to keep your heads down, then another force will maneuver around to your side to try to kill you,” he said. “That’s the same thing we do.”

    Webmaster's Commentary:

The Afghan people want their country back.

We do not have anywhere near the complement of military boots on the ground to win this.

We cannot win what is essentially a ground war from the air. We can kill (and further radicalize those who are left) women, kids, the elderly, and the medically fragile. But that's not "winning" this conflict.

The US puppet installed government is believed so crooked by the Afghan people that many believe these people have to screw their socks on in the morning.

There will be a "Saigon Moment" in Kabul. The question is, how many more of our military will have to die and get maimed before that happens.

And why are we there? For the installation of pipelines, and protecting the drug trade, which is so profitable for so many.
