A new malware campaign seen in the last few days plays on the popularity of websites like Classmates.com and FriendsReunited, by posing as an invitation to an imminent school reunion.

Kingdom denounces silence — Palestinian factions asked to unite

Saudi Arabia yesterday denounced the silence of the international community over the ferocious Israeli war on unarmed Palestinians in Gaza and the collective punishment inflicted on the inhabitants of the territory.

“The international stand of silence and defeatism in dealing with Israeli atrocities (in Gaza) has no parallel,” said a statement issued by the Council of ministers.

The Cabinet said the Israeli military attack that has killed and injured hundreds of innocent people and destroyed vital infrastructure, violated humanitarian principles as well as international law and agreements.

The Cabinet also disproved the Israeli claim that its aggression against Gaza was for self-defense against Hamas rocket fire, saying that claim has ignored the Jewish state’s history of occupation of Palestinian land, its policy of economic blockade on its people and its negative response to Arab peace initiatives.

I Am Ashamed

The latest war crime on behalf of the whiners in Israel and their blind and ignorant supporters in the US have resulted in the deaths of 531 Palestinians and an additional 2500 wounded. Let me put that into perspective. The US has 200 times the population so for us to experience the same causalities, we would have to have 106,200 deaths and some 500,000 wounded in ten days of massacre.

Have Bush and the Neocons Ruined it for the Israelis?

The Israeli propaganda blitz around their attack on Gaza has been greeted with uncharacteristic skepticism by the American public and even by some of the mainstream US press. Even the Jewish American community is uneasy about this one, in a way perhaps unparalelled since the 1982 Israeli attack on Lebanon and siege of Beirut. Jews for Peace in Los Angeles are actively protesting the Gaza atrocities, and newspaper articles from around the US on local protests held this weekend often mention mixed Arab-American and Jewish-American rallies.

If it is true that Americans are greeting Israeli talking points with more criticism this time, is it because we have been intensively exposed for the past 8 years to precisely this sort of mental manipulation by Bush-Cheney and their stable of Neoconservatives?

Let's take some of the basic techniques of propaganda practiced by Bush and compare them to those deployed by the Israeli leadership in the past 8 days.

The Politics of An Israeli Extermination Campaign: Backers, Apologists and Arms Suppliers

Because of the unconditional support of the entire political class in the US, from the White House to Congress, including both Parties, incoming and outgoing elected officials and all the principle print and electronic mass media, the Israeli Government feels no compunction in publicly proclaiming a detailed and graphic account of its policy of mass extermination of the population of Gaza.

Israel’s sustained and comprehensive bombing campaign of every aspect of governance, civic institutions and society is directed toward destroying civilized life in Gaza. Israel’s totalitarian vision is driven by the practice of a permanent purge of Arab Palestine informed by Zionism, an ethno-racist ideology, promulgated by the Jewish state and justified, enforced and pursued by its organized backers in the United States.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan today asked a court to place alleged $50 billion Ponzi scheme operator Bernard Madoff in jail while they continue developing their case against him. Meanwhile, in Washington a Congressional panel was asking what the SEC could have done to prevent the scandal.

Disgraced financier Bernard Madoff leaves U.S. District Court in Manhattan after a bail hearing in New York, today. Prosecutors on Monday said Madoff violated bail conditions by mailing about $1 million worth of jewelry and other assets to relatives and should be jailed without bail.

A federal judge, perhaps predictably, questioned the validity of the government's request to put Madoff in custody considering that Madoff's current bail terms -- home confinement in his posh Manhattan penthouse -- had earlier been agreed upon by the government.

A federal prosecutor argued that cufflinks, watches, and other personal property purportedly worth $1 million had been shipped by Madoff and his wife to relatives and friends during the holiday season, and that this constituted a violation of the terms of bail because the "dissipation of assets" could potentially harm investors seeking to recoup any of their losses from investing w

The Great Credit-Crunch Hoax of 2008

Remember the credit crunch? Of course, you do. We'd never seen anything like it, or so the highest financial authorities and their lapdogs in the news media told us – not in a cool, calm, and collected way, either, but in a breathless delivery that suggested imminent economic doom unless the government immediately undertook to "do something." Which it did, of course, on a scale never before witnessed in U.S. history.

So, looking back, as people are prone to do at this time of year, we can clearly see the telltale signs of the financial disaster that struck the financial markets last autumn: the terrible credit crunch, the "frozen" credit that portended a complete economic "meltdown" unless the government took drastic measures to head it off. (The government's spokespersons and the media's talking heads never got straight whether the thing was very cold or very hot, as they reached for horrifying metaphors in all directions at once.)

Milky Way — the galaxy — not snack-sized anymore

Take that, Andromeda! For decades, astronomers thought when it came to the major galaxies in Earth's cosmic neighborhood, our Milky Way was a weak sister to the larger Andromeda. Not anymore. The Milky Way is considerably larger, bulkier and spinning faster than astronomers once thought, Andromeda's equal.

Scientists mapped the Milky Way in a more detailed, three-dimensional way and found that it's 15 percent larger in breadth. More important, it's denser, with 50 percent more mass, which is like weight. The new findings were presented Monday at the American Astronomical Society's convention in Long Beach, Calif.

That difference means a lot, said study author Mark Reid of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass. The slight 5-foot-5, 140-pound astrophysicist said it's the cosmic equivalent of him suddenly bulking up to the size of a 6-foot-3, 210-pound NFL linebacker.

The American Puppet State

President George W. Bush was in his stand-up comedian role when he declared that he wanted to be remembered as a fighter for human rights.

Seldom has a fighter for human rights amassed Bush’s death toll. According to Information Clearing House, Bush’s invasion and occupation of Iraq has resulted in 1,297,997 dead Iraqis. Millions more have been wounded, and millions are displaced. Bush’s legions have taken out weddings, funerals, kid’s soccer games, hospitals, and mosques.

And that’s before we come to Afghanistan.

In Afghanistan “we don’t do body counts” declared a commander of Bush’s imperial legions. But the thousands of dead civilians and school children have rallied Afghans to the Taliban, whose lightly armed fighters have retaken most of the country from the Unipower.

The Taliban doesn’t have an air force, or cluster bombs, or drones, or “smart missiles,” or tanks, or satellite capability. The Taliban has Afghan resistance to occupation.

Bush was fighting for human rights in 2006 when he prevented for one month the civilized world from stopping Israel’s massive bombing of Lebanon’s civilian infrastructure and civilian neighborhoods. Israel had intended to clear Hezbollah out of southern Lebanon in order to steal that part of the country for its water resources.

Florida House shows support for Israel
By Josh Hafenbrack | Tallahassee Bureau
January 6, 2009

TALLAHASSEE - Led by South Florida Jewish legislators, the Florida House passed a resolution Monday expressing "solidarity" with Israel and its campaign against the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The resolution, approved by a unanimous voice vote on the first day of a budget-related special session in Tallahassee, called the Israeli military action in Gaza "an effort to defend its citizens as a moral duty against the unspeakable horrors of ongoing, indiscriminate terrorism" by Hamas.

"Because of the overwhelming Jewish community in Florida, I think it's important for the state to express its support," said House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, R- Boca Raton Click here for restaurant inspection reports, the sponsor.

Venezuela’s Chavez Says Israeli Attack Is ‘Genocidal’ (Update1)
By Matthew Walter

Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip are “genocidal” and called on governments around the world to demand a cease-fire in the Middle Eastern conflict.

Chavez said that Venezuela will show “solidarity” with the Palestinian people and that the U.S. is supporting the Israeli attacks on Gaza, in comments broadcast today on Venezuelan state television.

“How sad that Israel continues to act as the assassin arm of the Yankee empire,” the president said.

The South American country plans to collaborate with humanitarian efforts to send medicine and food to Palestine, Chavez said. Israeli warplanes bombed new Palestinian targets today and troops moved into the outskirts of Gaza City today, while at least 34 rockets from Gaza have struck Israeli territory since last night.

Israeli Wiretappers, the NSA, and 9/11

It was Bamford who popularized the existence of Operation Northwoods in his 2001 book, Body of Secrets. Gaza civilians bearing brunt of violence: aid agencies

Civilians in Gaza are bearing the brunt of the violence in the Gaza Strip, where people wounded in fighting are dying because ambulances cannot reach them, humanitarian agencies said on Monday.

As troops battled militants in Gaza's main city for the first time since Israel unleashed its offensive against the Islamist Hamas movement on December 27, the agencies painted a grim picture of the suffering in the impoverished territory.

"Wounded people have died while waiting for Palestinian Red Crescent ambulances," ICRC spokeswoman Dorothea Krimitsas said in Geneva.

This ranges from the strictly military institutions and includes the political institutions that provide the logistical funding and human resources for the terrorist arm."

Israel's 'Fait Accompli' in Gaza

There are two completely different versions of what is currently happening in Gaza.

In the Israeli and North American press version, Hamas – "Islamic terrorists" backed by Iran – have in an unprovoked attack fired deadly rockets on innocent Israel with the intent of destroying the Jewish state.

North American politicians and the media say Israel "has the right to defend itself."

True enough. No Israeli government can tolerate rockets hitting its towns, even though the casualty totals have been less than the car crash fatalities registered during a single holiday weekend on Israel's roads.

The firing of the feeble, homemade al-Qassam rockets by Palestinians is both useless and counterproductive.

It damages their image as an oppressed people and gives right-wing Israeli extremists a perfect reason to launch more attacks on the Arabs and refuse to discuss peace.

UN: Stop Israeli 'monstrosity' in Gaza

UN General Assembly chief Miguel d'Escoto has criticized the Security Council for its inability to curb Israel's "monstrosity" in Gaza.

D'escoto criticized the UN Security Council for not showing enough tenacity in ending Gazans suffering in the wake of the weeklong Israeli offensive in the coastal strip.

"I think it's a monstrosity; there's no other way to name it," D'escoto said Saturday when asked about the Israeli incursion on Gaza.

The UN Security Council again failed to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip due to US intervention. The statement would have called on Israel to end its ground incursion into the region.

"Once again, the world is watching in dismay the dysfunctionality of the Security Council," D'escoto argued.

The two previous UN draft resolutions seeking an end to the violence in the region have been blocked by Washington. The United States has so far vetoed over 40 anti-Israel resolutions at the UN.

Gazprom to take Ukraine to court

Russia's energy company Gazprom has increased the volume of gas being delivered to Europe. The company blames Ukraine for siphoning the transit gas and is filing a lawsuit against it in the European court.

This follows the cutoff of gas supplies to Ukraine on January 1, after the two countries’ gas companies failed to agree on a price for 2009.

Gazprom is now filing a lawsuit against Ukraine's Naftogaz claiming the firm violated its obligations as a transit party. Several countries, including Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and the Balkans, all say their supplies have dropped.

“Our European consumers in Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Poland and in the Balkans are reporting unlicensed siphoning off of Russian gas on Ukrainian territory. In this situation Gazprom must provide additional volumes of gas through other gas transporting corridors,” said Gazprom CEO Aleksy Miller.

Gaza: the Belligerence of Oppression

The Israeli/Palestinian conflict is the most stubborn and indeed the most volatile political dilemma facing the world. Today, as in its inception over sixty years ago, the victims are denied their day in court. The cruelly caged, oppressed people of Palestine have a story to tell in the court of history…if only history would lend them the opportunity to be heard.

The saga of the oppression suffered by the people of Palestine does not begin with “…we became under rocket attack and we reacted accordingly,” unless, of course, the narrative is controlled by the oppressor.

Now that Israel is one of the mightiest military powers on the face of the earth; now that it has routinely been exercising that power without sense of proportionality and restraint and thus putting world security at a greater risk, it is high time to hold it accountable.

It is about time that the state of Israel is pressured to comply with the Geneva Convention or be dealt with as a rogue state.

Surely the lesson cannot be lost on President-elect Barack Obama. That such violence can be waged on so defenseless a population with the support of the Bush Administration is unconscionable. That Obama chooses to remain silent is nothing short of cowardice.

Obama's silence on the Gaza crisis grows more curious by the day; it has already cost him much political capital. He appears weak and ineffectual even before his inauguration, one more symbol of hope capitulating to the realpolitik of the ‘special' U.S./Israeli relationship.

Unfortunately, Obama is missing in action in this first challenge to his Presidency. The Israelis have used his own words to justify their aggression, and Obama has responded with a deafening silence. This does not bode well for the future.

President Bush has blamed Hamas for the bloodshed in the Middle East, which has so far left more than 400 people dead.
He used his weekly address to urge Arab countries to do more to stop militants firing rockets into Israel - which he described as an "act of terror".

Israeli forces have continued their air strikes on the Gaza Strip today, killing a senior Hamas commander, and militants have fired more than five rockets into Israel.

How MySpace's New 'Pay Per Click' Ads Rob Artists

Any bands or solo artists out there thinking about trying MySpace's new "MySpace Ads" advertising campaign? Think again.

What MySpace is doing, in my opinion, is nothing short of a scam. Because, in the end, for most of us, what they're promoting is nothing close to what you'll get.

Thousands rally in Tel Aviv

The Chairman of the Balad Party, MK Jamal Zahalka, said at the rally that there is a need to "try Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi in an international war crimes tribunal for their role in the killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip."

Not everyone can be a Rivero, or a Rense

I don't have much influence, but I am making an effort at Yahoo forums. I have quite a few, besides the ones shown below. I used to be brain-blind about Israel, too. I use my own graphics for impact, so they include a lot of info. I am currently using a graphic from rense. com, because it says so much. I don't know if it is really allowable, so it may not get to stay. I am ashamed of the lack of US Christian voices, but I know they are as generally brain-washed by US Zionist-dominated media as are US Jews themselves by their own media. Be glad, those who have been freed from gov/edu/media/church/synagogue propaganda bondage. Everyone is vulnerable to being seduced by slick, and continual mis-representation. And "they" never stop the attack!

European protesters urge end to attacks on Gaza

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in European cities on Saturday against Israel's bombardment of Gaza, including protesters who hurled shoes at the tall iron gates outside the British prime minister's residence in London and waved Palestinian flags.

Meanwhile, Americans roll over on the sofa and go back to sleep hoping Palestine will be gone soon.
Americans should be so "proud" of what their support of the Israeli AshkenNAZI leaders is bringing about.

Oregon to Penalyze Good Gas Mileage

The state of Oregon is apparently piloting a program in which drivers will be taxed according to how many miles they drive, rather than how much fuel they buy. Compared to the status quo, this effectively penalizes hybrids and rewards vehicles that get bad gas mileage.

Bush's Final F.U.

With president-elect Barack Obama already taking command of the financial crisis, it's tempting to think that regime change in America is a done deal. But if George Bush has his way, the country will be ruled by his slash-and-burn ideology for a long time to come.

In its final days, the administration is rushing to implement a sweeping array of "midnight regulations" - de facto laws issued by the executive branch - designed to lock in Bush's legacy. Under the last- minute rules, which can be extremely difficult to overturn, loaded firearms would be allowed in national parks, uranium mining would be permitted near the Grand Canyon and many injured consumers would no longer be able to sue negligent manufacturers in state courts. Other rules would gut the Endangered Species Act, open millions of acres of wild lands to mining, restrict access to birth control and put local cops to work spying for the federal government.

Did Bush Sr. Kill Kennedy?

Russ Baker's new book presents an account of the U.S. government that is both remarkably new and extensively documented. According to this account, George H. W. Bush, the father of the current president, devoted his career to secret intelligence work with the CIA many years before he became the CIA director, and the network of spies and petroleum plutocrats he began working with early on has played a powerful but hidden role in determining the direction of the U.S. government up to the current day.

The Economist: U.S. In Depression, Not Recession

Renowned financial publication The Economist reports that, based on the characteristics of the current financial crisis, the U.S. is in a depression, not a recession.

The admission marks the first time that a major international financial news outlet has acknowledged that the scale of the economic mess is unlike anything seen in recent decades.

Under the headline, Diagnosing depression, the article asks, “What is the difference between a recession and a depression?”

A depression is characterized by “falling asset prices, a credit crunch and deflation,” according to the article, all factors that we see unfolding in the current crisis.
