Thought for the day

"I just wonder what it would be like to be reincarnated in an animal whose species had been so reduced in numbers than it was in danger of extinction. What would be its feelings toward the human species whose population explosion had denied it somewhere to exist.... I must confess that I am tempted to ask for reincarnation as a particularly deadly virus." -- Prince Philip, in his Forward to "If I Were an Animal" - United Kingdom, Robin Clark Ltd., 1986.

Five Minutes to Midnight aims to explain some of the intractable issues in international politics. In the coming weeks we will begin by examining six topics: Iran, Libya, Syria, Tunisia, the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the Palestine-Israel conflict.

Hosted by Mohamed EL-Doufani, a retired editor of 30 years experience working for the BBC and holder of a doctorate in Politics from Lancaster University.

All interviewees will be experts in their fields. Five Minutes to Midnight will try to keep each episode short and simple — and therefore memorable. Unlike mainstream broadcasters, we are not afraid of governments cutting out funds or bullying us, or of political lobbies terrorising us. We will ask hard questions and seek honest answers.
